So excited! I won a beautiful Anne Klein Cross-Body Bag from Linger Rose LLC in a Giveaway hosted by Lyddie of Chic On The Cheap blog. Thanks Ladies! I Love It! It's going to be perfect for Fall :)I took it with me on my recent trip to Barnes & Noble (Metairie). Just call me a Barnes & Noble BABE! I love that place! I could literally spend all day there and never get bored. What's not to love!?! They have a cafe, huge music selection, and a plethora of books and magazines.
Here's a little tour of the one I frequent. Does your Barnes & Noble look the same? I bet most do!
May I take your order? This is the Barnes & Noble Cafe in Metairie (outskirts of New Orleans). They serve muffins, cookies, cake, sandwiches and a variety of Starbucks drinks. I know it looks like a milkshake in the picture below, but I actually ordered a strawberry-banana smoothie. I forgot the name of the sandwich, but it was really good. The bread was awesome.
Below are some accessories I wore: Mary Jo Matsumoto's 4 Free nail lacquer (this shade is no longer available, but she has many other beautiful shades to choose from), a Gypsy Hamsa charm brown leather bracelet I purchased on Etsy (It's a sign of protection against evil. Read the Wikipedia entry. Very interesting. I just learned about this). I also purchased these beautiful handmade Autumnal Earrings from Etsy.
Don't leave without a treat! Aren't these cookies humongous? HaHaHa They're so good! Moist too! Definitely get one if you go. Love the Godiva Chocolate Candy Bars! Get the strawberry/raspberry one! You will THANK me! :)
Ohhh yeah! Books!!!! My bad! HaHaHa Fiction, Non-Fiction, Self-Help, Biographies, Kids Section, Business, Cookbooks, Mystery, Romance! You name it and they have it! Do you know this was the first time I didn't buy ONE book while I was there? HaHaHa I was exhausted from taking pictures, drinking smoothies and eating a sandwich. HaHaHa
I love coffee table books.There's just something about them. Here are a few that caught my eye. Jazz Age Fashion: Dressed To Kill, Marilyn In Fashion, Vogue The Covers Pin-Up
There's an entire section just for music and movies. I love the diversity & selection that can be found here. You can always find something unique & different.Below is a mural that features some people, things and organizations from New Orleans: Louis Armstrong, The New Orleans Streetcar, Bourbon Street, The Rex and Comus Organization, Mardi Gras and more.
There's also a really cool section in the bookstore that has calenders, books and other cool things about Louisiana.

ReplyDeleteIn Maastricht there was a very beautiful bookshop inside a former church and I love to go there just to take a look, even if they didn't have a broad range of books. In Aachen, a nearby city in Germany there was an absolutely great bookstore with five stores full of great books and magazines. A friend and I once spent three hours there just browsing books and gift cards :)
Now in Basel I'm spoilt for choice as there are a couple of big bookshops, one with four or five stores as well, a many other smaller ones.

I always love a good book store. We don't have Barnes & Noble in Canada so visiting it is always a highlight of my cross border trips. But I have yet to visit one that served cookies, and I'm practically drooling over your photos of those peanut butter cup cookies. Yum, yum, yum!

I love spending a day at the bookstore as well. In the philippines we don't have B&N but we have something like it called powerbooks where we have starbucks, a plethora of books, magazines, music to browse around and listen to as well :)
