Too Faced Cosmetics Born This Way Liquid Foundation in Warm Beige Review, Swatches & Video

For two weeks, I'll be reviewing some Too Faced products that I purchased over several months! Today, I'll be discussing their new liquid foundation Born This Way. It's oil-free and considered medium to full coverage. It promises hydration (coconut water), brightening & elasticity (alpine rose) and a smoother, youthful appearance (hyaluronic acid). It currently comes in 12 shades, but 6 additional shades (2 lighter + 4 darker) will be added by Fall 2015 via Too Faced. The foundation is dispensed by a pump and is housed in a frosted glass bottle, with black cap & gold trim. Below are my thoughts.
I purchased Too Faced's Born This Way Foundation in the shade Warm Beige and have been testing it out for several weeks. I really like it. I strongly suggest you go to a store to match for your correct shade! I lucked up and correctly matched mine after watching a plethora of YouTube videos. But this is too expensive ($39) to chance! If you're really fair or dark, wait until they release the 6 extra shades that are coming out Fall 2015. I don't know why they didn't do that from the very beginning, because MANY understandably felt left out. Beauty brands must start accounting for all ethnicities.

This foundation is definitely medium to full coverage (buildable), but it doesn't feel heavy on the skin. It blurred my birthmark, freckles, and many of the dark marks on my face. For darker marks, you will need a concealer. The shade I chose, Warm Beige, blended well with my natural skin tone. The foundation also gave me a nice glow. For the record, I have DRY SKIN. I was unable to use my Smashbox Photo Finish Primer (clear) with this foundation, because it made my face too matte (dry). So, I ended up purchasing Too Faced's Primed & Poreless Face Primer (I'll be reviewing tomorrow) and Smashbox's Hydrating PhotoFinish Primer. Smashbox's Hydrating Primer did ok with this foundation, but Too Faced's Primed & Poreless worked better. I have NO CONCEALER on in the picture below! I only have on Too Faced's primer, foundation and pressed powder. For me, the foundation started breaking up after 6-8 hours. This foundation worked for me and I really like it. Is it ABSOLUTE PERFECTION, as Too Faced claims...NO! I've read LOTS of complaints, from people with oily skin. They say they're too oily after using this foundation. This foundation didn't seem oily or greasy to me, but maybe my DRY SKIN is sucking it up. LOL There are also complaints about shade matching. I didn't add lipstick or blush in my picture below, because I wanted you to get a good look at the foundation itself. I'm going to discuss the primer & pressed powder tomorrow and then you'll see this foundation with blush & lipstick Wednesday - Friday. I did wear this foundation in THIS POST.

A sample was included in my order. Below are the 12 shades(chart) that are currently offered. They also included 3 real samples in Vanilla, Light Beige and Sand. So I swatched them for you. My YouTube video, showing the application of the Too Faced Primer, Foundation and Pressed Powder is attached below. I give this foundation a Sweet rating. I want to try Makeup Forever and Marc Jacobs NEW Foundation.

  5. I've been wanting to try this foundation out! $39 is a little hefty but luckily everyone who carries Too Faced has good return policies so it seems worth the risk. It looks really great on your skin and seems like a great balance of coverage while still looking natural so hopefully I can get around to a store soon to test some shades :) Since me and foundation matching online seem to never get along anyway.

  7. Wow Kim that's a great color match and this foundation gives you such a luminous finish. I agree that beauty brands really do need to start accounting for all ethnicities and offer a better range of shades all around. Glad this one worked out much better than the Rimmel one you reviewed yesterday.

  9. It sounds like it's really working for you Kim! :)

Like you I think it's odd that they haven't released all the colours at the beginning, maybe they were waiting to see if it was as popular as they wanted it to be? haha!

  13. I might try this foundation. In general I avoid Too Faced only because there price per ounce is typically pretty bad compared to other companies, at least in my experience. However, in the past year or so my T-zone has decided that it's dry! The rest of me is normal so I might get a sample of this from Sephora to compare it. I currently use UD Naked and love it so much, but I can't deal with flaky patches, you know?

  15. I hadn't tried Too Faced products until last December, but so far the ones I've found, I've really liked. Mostly I'm using powder products right now - eyeshadows, blushes and bronzers - and what I like about them is the bang you get for your buck, pigment-wise. That said, I don't normally deviate from my standard Estee Lauder foundation, but the coverage you got from this one is really impressive... I may just have to change my mind!

  17. The foundation looks like it has great coverage! My skin gets oily (especially in the summer) so sadly I don't think it'll work for me.

  18. Thank you for the very very honest review! That is what I love about your blog. I have been dying to get this but haven't seen it near me to swatch, but I am a little more cautious now, especially because I have oily skin in the summer. It looks nice on you though!

  22. Well, well, well...I don't need another base products, heaven no but this has definitely piqued my interest! The shade Sand looks really close to my skin colour but you're right, $39 is not something that I should take a chance with. I like the finish on your skin too, Kim and I have dry skin like you so this foundation might work for me too.

  26. Your skin looks so nice and flawless!! I've been curious about this but might have to wait for the lighter shades to be released. My skin might be too oily for it but hey that's what free sephora samples are for LOL!! I'm so glad you like this Kim, it looks like it applies nicely as well! I'm looking forward to your other too faced reviews!

  29. You've got me already after the description, Kim! I have oily skin, luckily and sadly at the same time... so I love the fact it's oil free and about the other complaints... each skin has still different preferences! Totally love this product with coconut water! Fab review as always and your skin looks really like you was born this way! :D
