Let's catch up! Before my Dell laptop kick the bucket, I mentioned TWO skincare brands that didn't work for my dry, sensitive skin (Eve Lom & PAI Skincare). For the next several days, I'm happy to share with you THREE skincare brands that DID work REALLY WELL for my dry, sensitive skin. All three have different price ranges, but ALL were very effective, I was very impressed and would highly recommend. The first brand is REN Skincare. I SUPER LOVE REN SKINCARE! Below are my thoughts.
Sweet-Bittersweet-NotSweet
supersweet(run & buy it) sweet(really good,buy it) bittersweet(ok, issues)not sweet(not good,don't buy this stuff)
REN Gentle Cleansing Milk - Supersweet
After using PAI Skincare, my face was puffy, I had little pustules underneath my skin and my face was flushed. I experienced some type of reaction (despite it being an organic brand). The REN Gentle Cleansing Milk cleared it up immediately. I felt a difference in my skin, after just ONE USE! My skin felt calm and the cleanser was soothing. I didn't have any redness. I didn't have any dryness. My skin felt moisturized, but not oily, heavy, greasy etc. It cleansed my skin without depleting it. I love it! I highly recommend it. It's specifically formulated for sensitive, delicate and reactive skin. It has a creamy consistency. It has a light yellow tint. It reminds me of buttercream. It's contained within a pump and as you use dispense the product it moves upward. You can always tell how much product you have left, because of the clear packaging. I love the packaging for this, because it is very sanitary! There's no way to access this product, except by dispensing it via the pump. Very clean concept! It's super fabulous! Your skin will love it!
Another cleanser? Why Kim? When I finished the PAI Skincare, I had 2 pimples on my chin. So when I went to order a REN cleanser, I was curious about both (clay & milk). The REN Clearcalm 3 Clarifying Clay Cleanser took about 2 weeks to get rid of my 2 pimples. But once they were gone, they were GONE! I wouldn't suggest using the clay cleanser on it's own as a cleanser, but I would suggest it as an additional step in your skincare regimen. Everyday...EVERYDAY...I used the cleansing milk and then the clay cleanser! They worked beautifully together! I didn't have a pimple while using it! Do not worry about the clay drying out your skin! It NEVER dried my skin out! In fact, my face felt moisturized. REN describes it as a PURIFYING ANTIBACTERIAL CLEANSER formulated to combat the appearance of breakouts and blemishes leaving skin visibly clearer and calmer. THAT is SO TRUE! Again, I don't like this as a cleanser on it's own, because it doesn't do a great job totally cleansing the face. But it is SO EFFECTIVE in the management of breakouts. I love it. This product is in the same type of packaging, however the clay is in a bag (see gif below). I'm just guessing, this keeps the clay moist and malleable. There's no scent! It's just a clay that easily smooths onto the skin.
Finally, I chose the REN Ultra Moisture Day Cream as a moisturizer. REN does recommend another Evercalm moisturizer for sensitive skin, but this one claims to be more moisturizing (and it is). I loved it! Very clean scent. Very creamy. It moisturizes, without being heavy, oily or greasy on skin. Dry skin will definitely absorb it, but still feel moisturized. What I also loved, was that it didn't affect my makeup application. All my makeup applied beautifully after putting this on. I would definitely repurchase this. I still have more of this product left. I ran out of both cleansers before using this up. So despite the price point for this moisturizer, I only used half. So I think it's awesome. At night, I would use AVEENO's Ultra Calming Night Cream. I SUPER LOVE THAT STUFF! Look for a giveaway, in my next blog post!
I'm REALLY IMPRESSED with REN Skincare! All THREE products worked wonders on my skin. No redness. No irritation. No dryness or patchy dry areas. Just healthy glowing skin! REN makes a lot of other products, that I plan on trying, but I wanted to make sure the basics worked. As I test them, I will definitely post the reviews here. Also, REN believes in CLEAN Skincare. There are NO parabens, sulphates, mineral oil, petrolatum, synthetic fragrance, synthetic colours, T.E.A, D.E.A, Gylcols, Silicones, PEGS ET AL. It's dermatologist tested and approved and REN is against animal testing. This is not a sponsored post! I purchased ALL of these products with my own money. I used REN for a month and I'll be going back to it. Tomorrow I will discuss a less expensive brand that also worked well with my skin and the next day a more expensive brand that worked well with my skin. So, I am finding options for my dry, sensitive skin problem. Sorry for the length of this post, but I felt it was important to explain.
Yay! So glad you got your Mac figured out, haha, it really is a different system compared to Windows! I really want to make the splurge and invest in one as well, but the cost makes me break out in sweats and bite my nails off...aha, so maybe when I'm more financially secure...
ReplyDeleteAnyway, sounds like one great skincare system! I've been having some serious breakouts this past month, but I finally just stopped wearing makeup, and in the one week I've done that, it instantly cleared up. So hopefully it's just a reaction to some products...

Nice to see you back, Kim! And good luck with MAC. I remember how tricky it was to get used to using it, but now I cannot go back to PC's, they just feel odd...
ReplyDeleteGlad to see your skin loved REN - I used one of their serums (or was it oil? don't remember the official name), which was good and am currently thinking of the mask.

So good to have you back, Kim:) We missed you too! And I've seen Ren in some mags, but it is pretty pricey so I've never tried anything from the brand. Great to know they work great. I break out easily, so this line sounds right up my alley:D
ReplyDeleteWelcome back, Kim! And welcome to the world of Mac users :) It's great to have you come back with such an awesome review, too. I've never struggled with dry skin but this summer we had to get a dehumidifier for our place as we found the reason my skin has been so plump and lovely is that our place is way more humid than average. The poor dehumidifier is working hard all the time to keep our place dry which is great but it's also drying my skin out likely crazy! I'm going to have to give REN a try, it sounds like it may just be the answer to my skincare prayers!

Yay you're back Kim! So glad to hear you're all set up with your new MacBook. The learning curve definitely isn't as steep as with PCs so I think you'll be an expert in no time. I'm so glad your reviewed this line as it's another one on my list. I tried a sample of their Gentle Cleansing Milk and totally loved it. It really is amazing for sensitive skin. I definitely want to check out the Day Cream now. It sounds so good!

Welcome back Kim. Too bad that cleanser isn't the best for cleansing, but at least it's good for managing breakouts. I've not used the whole range from Ren, I've only used their facial moisturising cremes. All the best with the MAC! :)
ReplyDeleteThe Travel Deluxe
I have seen this line in the stores. That cleansing milk sounds very good, I just bought an Aveeno cleanser but when it is done I will try this for sure. And yes sounds like you had a reaction.

ReplyDeleteWelcome back, Kim, definitely missed your presence in the blogsphere! I have read LOTS of great reviews on REN skincare but the only thing that stopped me is the price tag. However, after reading your review, I think it's worth the splurge, I might pick up these 3 for myself.

Sorry to hear about your computer issues as I know for a blogger that can be pretty intense! I do use Eve Lom, shocked to hear you didn't like that line. I have heard of this one, but never tried anything yet. Sounds like it would be a good brand to give a try.

Yay, I missed reading your posts! I have an insane stockpile of skincare stuff right now because I take so many months to actually finish bottles up, but the fact that this treats acne so well is really intriguing to me. I always go through horrible breakouts when my anxiety spikes and this seems like a great system to keep everything under control :)

These Ren products look amazing. I have heard great things about them. It's nice that they are not tested on animals and has no parabens.
ReplyDeleteAfter using windows for so long, using a Mac can be like going to school and learning about computers all over again. I loved my Mac, but I had to give it to my husband.

ReplyDeleteI love the clean concept of a pump as well. It shows how the brand is caring about healthy skin care... I don't see it unfortunately not that often in the drugstore. You sound very exciting about REN's products, Kim! I think it's very important for girls with dry skin to have a cleanser and cream which also help to get rid of blemishes and breakouts. AND YAY, Kimi is back!! <3
