Top Tips For Choosing Bridal Jewelry

Once you have chosen the perfect dress for your big day, the next big step that you will need to take is choosing how to accessorize it. When choosing jewelry to pair with your wedding dress, it’s important to make the right choices so that the pieces that you wear complement your dress perfectly and bring your whole outfit together so that you are the belle of the ball at your wedding. We’ve put together some top tips for choosing your bridal jewelry to help you make sure that your look is everything that you’ve ever dreamed it would be as you tie the knot.
Less is More
When it comes to choosing bridal jewelry, the rule of less is more has never been more relevant. On your wedding day, you will want your dress to take center stage and really be the star of the day, therefore any jewelry that you choose should be done so in order to complement it rather than upstage it. Simple and classic jewelry items such as diamond bracelets and necklaces can make the perfect accompaniment to a stunning wedding dress. Of course, the only ring that you should be wearing as you walk down the aisle is your engagement ring – see Atlanta engagement rings if you have yet to choose one.
Don’t Rush
As a general rule of thumb, don’t rush into buying wedding jewelry. Your bridal jewelry should be last on your shopping list, after you have chosen your dress, veil, headpiece, shoes and any other accessories so as to make sure that you definitely pick jewelry pieces which go well with the rest of your outfit. The last thing that you want is to have already pieced some stunning jewelry, only to find that it clashes with your dress once you have chosen it. To make sure that your wedding outfit planning runs smoothly, leave your jewelry to the end so that you can be sure that you’ve made the right choice.
Add Some Color
Your bridal jewelry is the perfect opportunity to add a small splash of color to an otherwise traditionally white outfit. You can use jewelry to tastefully match your outfit to your wedding’s color theme, for example by wearing a necklace with a sapphire stone if your color theme is blue, ruby for red, or amethyst for purple and so on. Or, many brides also like to go with traditional, white diamonds or pearls for their wedding day in order to keep in line with a traditional white theme.
Your Bouquet
Last but not least, don’t forget about the flowers which you will be carrying in your bouquet when it comes to choosing the jewelry that you’re wearing. If you are carrying flowers which are all one color, picking jewelry which is in a contrasting color can be a nice touch, or a matching color can help to bring the whole outfit, flowers included, together.
There are so many different options for bridal jewelry out there, but the main thing is to make sure that your jewels don’t upstage the dress!

  2. These are some great tips. I wore something that has a bit more pizzazz and not your average princess like jewellery. I wanted ti wear something that meant a lot to me and my husband.

  3. Such great advice, Kim:) I myself have never really been into jewelry so I think my mom helped me pick out whatever I wore that day. It was only the bouquet I really cared about:P

    Have a great weekend!

  4. These are great tips. Especially about the jewelry complementing the bouquet. That is probably something brides don't always think of!

  5. These are great tips! I chose simple yet elegant looking necklace and rain drop earrings which weren't catchy. As you said it should be your dress that take the attention, not the big catchy jewellery! I went for pastel bouquet, I think pastel colours look beautiful with the wedding dress :)

  7. I kept it simple and classic with my bridal jewelry and I think that's definitely the way to go. And I waited until after I had my dress to choose my jewelry. I got really lucky with my dress so I had time to get my jewelry. Ooh do let me know what you think of the Marie Kondo book when you finish reading it Kim. I found her KonMari method to be life changing.

  10. These are definitely some great tips. I went simple at my wedding but that is because my dress was pretty elaborate. I think jewelry and accessories could also really dress up a simple wedding gown.
