Accordion Pleats & Tulle
According to dictionary.com, accordion pleats have been around since the 1800's. They're classic. We've seen them sashay down fashion runways. Marilyn Monroe is famously known for her white accordion dress being blown from a subway grate. Child Star Shirley Temple (I'm a vintage movie buff) wore an accordion dress in the movie, 'The Little Girl Who Fought The Great Depression'. The list goes on and on. When people ask me what my particular style is, I always respond...CLASSIC. It's who I am. My fashion sense (like my home) is no fuss, understated, simple, classy and elegant. When eShakti asked me to model a dress for them, their Accordian Pleat Tulle and Cotton Knit Midi Dress immediately caught my eye. Not only does it have accordion pleats, but it also has an overlay of tulle! Tulle is so dreamy. This dress has a simple elastic band at the waist, pockets and is topped off with a scooped neck ballerina style neckline. Plus, it's classic black. How much does this dress cost? Only $55 and change. It looks more expensive. My Look: $55 dress #gotitfree + $5 Sunnies + Bobbi Brown Makeup + Chanel Shopping Bag :) You don't have to spend a lot of money, to look like a million bucks! I love that eShakti caters to different sizes and their designs can be customized. I've been a series of sizes my entire life. Study your body shape. Know your strengths & weaknesses. Build your wardrobe based on what works for YOU! It's a formula only you can unlock. eShakti can be found on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Pinterest and other social media. #eShakti #realfashionforrealpeople

The overlay of tulle definitely gets a thumbs up from me - anything tulle tends to look completely dreamy! It's lovely to see a fashion-focussed post on your blog Kim, it's always fun seeing more of someone's personal style :)

Kim, love love love this outfit! You look so fab, girl....such a classic and classy outfit. That skirt is such a great addition to any wardrobe, and I love how you styled it with an all-black ensemble. Two thumbs up:)
ReplyDeleteHave a lovely weekend, and a great CNY:)
I totally agree, Kim - you don't have to spend a lot of money to look like a million bucks! (My one exception to that is always looking for quality fabrics - polyester is not my friend.) Classic styles will never fail you in that regard. I go back and forth in my relationship with pleased, but this season I can't get enough of them, so I just love this skirt. The overlay of tulle is such a fun and unexpected touch!

This dress has such a classic and feminine vibe but the tulle overlay on the skirt just gives it that extra touch of ballerina inspired oomph! You made a perfect choice and it looks fabulous Kim! Happy weekend and happy lunar new year babe!
ReplyDeleteVery cute! This outfit reminds me of Breakfast at Tiffany's. Def a classic! I have worked with eshakti before and I love that they customize pieces for all shapes and sizes.

ReplyDeleteIt reminds me of a ballerina inspired gown. Very pretty.
YASSSSSSSSSSSSS girl! I love this! Perfectly styled and so chic the way you let the skirt do all the talking! I also tend to like more classic styling but I do get colorful haha. This is a good reminder that sometimes I should probably dial it back. Love seeing your fashion post! And I love that Eshakti is so affordable for doing customizing. Gorgeous look, Kim! xx

I love it Kim. Beautiful wardrobe piece. Like you, I love my pieces to be classic so they are easy to wear and never go out of style. I think I need an accordion skirt now. :)

I do agree, it's always best to reach for the classics! The pleated skirt is gorgeous, I wish they had a version that was just skirt and not a dress.
