What's Up? Watt's Up? I have an oldie but goodie for you today! Remember when a couple of my blog buddies & I won Benefit's Let's Be #Curlfriends Contest (
here and
here)? Well, I came across a couple of products I won ... but never tried or reviewed! One is
Benefit's Watt's Up! Benefit came out with Watt's Up (soft focus highlighter) waaaaayyyyy before (in a galaxy far away) highlighters & illuminators were cool. I always thought it was interesting, but never knew what to do with it (so therefore I didn't buy it)? LOL Well now since I understand highlighters, illuminators & strobing ... I GET Watt's Up! Watt's Up comes in a solid, stick form! This makes it portable & great for travel! I say that, because for the past 2 years we've been inundated with both powder & liquid highlighters, illuminators & strobing products. In 2017, I've been seeing a switch to solid/stick products. Have you noticed? Ahhh, everything always comes full circle...both in fashion & beauty! So we know highlighters, are all about that GLOW! This is a CHAMPAGNE GLOW! It can be placed on top or beneath makeup. I had a sample of this, but THE BIG SIZE you see here is double-ended! Highlighter on one end. Blending sponge on the other end. I found the blending sponge to only work well for small areas (nose, cupid bow, under eyebrows). I used a beauty blender for my cheeks. I love Watt's Up! I think it's definitely (as Benefit says...) turns on the WATT for your face!
Sweet-Bittersweet-NotSweet
supersweet(run & buy it) sweet(really good,buy it) bittersweet(ok, issues)not sweet(not good,don't buy this stuff)
Benefit's Watt's Up! is Supersweet
This highlighter is definitely one of the Original Gangsters. I remember when I first found out about the magic of highlighting, this was all the rage. I have not used it yet but I totally put it on my wish list. I just love that glow! xoxo
ReplyDeleteThat's such a good point, highlighters ARE returning to stick-forms! I can't put my finger on what I love about stick highlighters, but something about them reminds me of the kind of cosmetic packaging I 'used' as a kid (you know, they'd always smell of strawberry? haha). Glad to hear this gets a Super Sweet from you Kim, it looks beautifully natural on your skin. I'm pretty obsessed with Benefit's High Beam liquid highlighter (...still), so I can imagine I'd most likely like this too :)

That's a really pretty highlighter!! I'm obsessed with contouring and highlighting, so I'm always looking for new products to do the trick :)

This definitely sounds like a winner, Kim:) I usually use both cream and powder highlighters (esp for a long day so I just layer them up), but have been using powders more lately. Methinks it's time to check this out. Champagne highlighters are my jam:D
ReplyDeleteThis looks like such a pretty highlight :) I remember when it was everyone's fav back in the day!

Oh I like the built-in sponge on the end, even if it's not ideal for everywhere on your dace. It looks like such a nice colour too :)

I really like highlighters in stick form because they're the easiest to use. I just remembered that I have a deluxe sample of this one and I need to dig it out now after reading your positive thoughts on it Kim. It looks super pretty on you!
ReplyDeleteThis highlighter sounds amazing, I like that it comes in stick , need to give it a try.

I discovered that I had a small size of this mysteriously in my collection and I like it as well! It's not my go-to highlighter but it's very pretty!

I have this in my list to purchase because it's such a soft focus, subtle glow! Good to know that it has your approval too, Kim.

I had an early version of Watt's Up when I was in university, but like you, back then I really didn't know what to do with it, ha ha. Now that I'm more adept at highlighting, I would love to give it another try - the glow it gives you is just gorgeous, Kim!

I love how this highlighter looks on you Kim. Being in a solid form is such a bonus!
ReplyDeletewhat a nice product! The packaging seems very practical. The sponge is kind of small so I understand why you used it only on smaller areas and needed a blender for rest, but it still seems like a handy thing... Watts up has adorable name and I like the packaging for this illuminator:)
ReplyDeleteI like that it can be used both under and on top of make up....a bit of glow is always welcome. You got this one in some giveaway? how nice!
You're right....Illuminatiors and highlighters are returning to stick forms..and why not?
I think I've had a sample of this before and prefer the powder version highlighters in general but this does look really good on you!
ReplyDeleteOmg! I think I remembering getting this years ago in a teeny tiny sample size from Sephora!!! I have noticed that a lot of products are now coming in stick form, which I kind of like and not like. I like the compactibility and the idea of being able to do my makeup on the go. At the same time, I think it isn't as sanitary? Idk, lol! Thanks for sharing, beauty, and I hope you're having a great week so far!

I love all your makeup reviews! Benefit products are always a great treat and I love the fact this highlighter is in a stick for; makes it so much easier to apply I think :)

I feel like every raves about this product and I'm here not understanding the situation lol! I have tried a sample of this highlighter and I didn't think it was all that great, may be I need to try the full size to see ;)

I have this too and barely used it! It's so subtle and lovely on you - I really need to break out mine!
ReplyDeleteThis is definitely a beautiful highlighter! I had a mini size before and I liked it, but I didn't really understand highlighters yet either when I had it lol! I also have a NARS stick highlighter thats super pretty, and it's nice to see the stick highlighters popular again! I might have to pull mine out!
ReplyDeleteOMG! That's just super pretty! I'm starting to be hooked to highlighting now. Still thinking of which brand to stick to. Will check this one out. :)

I really like Watt's Up, especially as it has been around for so long, now you can get something similar for a fraction of the price but still one of my faves. Thanks for sharing your thoughts, great review! Xx
