My Sweet Treats: So, did you guys have a good weekend? I was pretty quiet. Got my eyebrows done, did some things around the house, watched football (those were 2 stressful games! haha), watched Downton Abbey-Season 2 (quote of the night: "I'm a woman Mary, I can be as contrary as I choose") and tested wine LOL. I'm excited to tell you about my cool sweet treats for this week. If you're younger than 21 don't read any further. LOL
Cupcake Vineyards: The week before last I was reading a post from Beck's blog Oomph here and here (check out her blog. she has the best style and is super sweet. we've been blog buddies for awhile.) and noticed a bottle of wine. What really captured my eye was the word CUPCAKE and RED VELVET. I knowww SMH. LOL So I asked her if she had any information on the company. I went to their website and they have red, white and sparkling wine. So I ordered one bottle from each category ($13.99 a bottle):
Descriptions of the ones I purchased:
- Pinot Grigio (White) - “Our Pinot Grigio is full with a nose that shows hints of pineapple, pears and sweet lemons. The body is full and gives way to a creamy mid-palate, integrating tropical fruits with the vibrant zing of citrus fruits. It is reminiscent of a pineapple upside down cupcake.”
- Red Velvet (Red) - “Our first blended red wine for Cupcake Vineyards has over the top aromas of chocolate, deep rich blackberries, red fruits that follow through the palate to a creamy mocha finish that is unmistakable in its intensity and length, with a hint of coconut. It’s reminiscent of a blackberry chocolate cupcake with a mocha coulis.”
- Moscato D'Asti (Sparkling) - “Our Moscato is vibrant and expressive with floral notes that dominate with hints of peach and flavors of tropical fruits and lychee. It is a soft and luscious wine with just a hint of effervescence to tickle the palate and balance the sweetness. With bright fruit flavors and finesse, it’s reminiscent of a pineapple right-side up cupcake.”
My Verdict! Excellent price. It was packaged beautifully. Arrived by FedEx. They DO require an adult signature, valid id and someone must be home. How do they taste? I SUPER LOVE the Moscato D'Asti! It has a wonderful taste and is bubbly.Your palette will love it. You will SMILE! I'll be getting some more of that! HAHAHA The Red Velvet is an excellent red wine. If you like a dry white wine then you'll love the Pinot Grigio. Do you have a favorite wine?
Garnet Hill: When you shop online, you receive a lot of catalogs at home. One of the catalogs I receive is Garnet Hill. I love their clothes because they're simple, classy, comfortable and non-fussy. However, they can be pricey. So my budget only allows me to buy stuff from them now and then. I'm gonna let you in on a little secret! So shhhh, don't tell anyone else ok. LOL As I was perusing their website, they have a Sale and Clearance tab. Click on it. Then look to your left and scroll down until you see Sale of the Day. Every day they feature ONE item that is heavily discounted. This dress retails for $98. I purchased it the other day for $34 (it's now on sale for $49). So what's the lesson? No matter what online store you look at, check and see if they have an outlet, clearance, or sale of the day link. You could save some money and get a great quality outfit. :)
Happy Chinese New Year Everybody!
It's the Year of the Dragon!
That sundae looks mega, but I don't know if I'd pay all that for one!! But, it is tempting!! Glad you had a good weekend, mine was quiet, but nice. I am ready for Spring I tell you!!Need some flowers and sunshine, these dark days just make me sleepy, but I am fighting against it!! Have a great monday doll!! xx p.s. haven't watched a football game in so long, miss it sometimes!!
ReplyDeleteSounds like you had a wonderful weekend! I've seen this dessert on tv before, so over the top and so fabulous! :)

That is CRAZY! I would be curious to try it, but not $1000 curious! And the wine sounds AMAZING! I'm definitely going to have to look into that! One of my friends forced me to try the red velvet thing and I LOVE it now!

oh wow, how exquisite looks lovely
ReplyDeleteI wish I had $1,000 to spend on an ice cream sundae, but I would rather spend it on shoes.

The sundae looks amazing but I'd never pay that much for it - I'd be too scared to eat it haha! I've wanted to see Downton Abbey for a while yet, I must be the only person to have not seen it! The wine sounds so yummy, I love the sound of the red. xo
ReplyDeletewww.almostdelightful.com
That sundae is just over the top :D it's worth two times our apartments monthly rent, so... A bit expensive, right? ;D But it sounds delicious, though.
ReplyDeleteAs for the wines, my favourite is probably Freixenet Carta Nevada (semi-seco), which is a tasty, sparkling wine, it's wonderful by itself, or with light food. I love it :)
Have a nice week, Kim! xoxo ♥
I've always seen the $1000 sundae....but I don't think its worth it....
ReplyDeleteI've heard of the Cupcake wines....still haven't tried it...sounds Yumm though...Enjoy it for me Kim!! <3

ReplyDeleteI loveee Serendipity!! They have the BEST frozen hot chocolate. Yum! If you come to NY, you need to put that on your bucket list :)
ReplyDeleteI like Cupcake wine, it's good for the price. Now I want some wine and cheese!! :D
ReplyDeletei just think of how many shoes i could buy with $1000...i will take shoes over ice cream any day! and that red velvet wine sounds really good!!
ReplyDeleteNo way, I wouldn't pay $1000 for ice cream. That is too crazy that they made it. I will pay for wine cupcakes though because I love cupcake :D
ReplyDeleteYour weekend sounds relaxing Kim, minus the stressful game part. Mine was somewhat relaxing but not quite..those days were over years ago.
The wine sounds lovely! Happy lunar New Year Kim!!
ReplyDelete~Anne
holy cow! if i had a $1,000 to spend i'm not sure a sundae would be my first choice. that'd have to be some sundae!
ReplyDeleteI love serendipity and wine!
ReplyDeleteI think I saw this sundae on a tv show before, if someone else was willing to buy it for me, I would like to try it :)
ReplyDeleteIf not, I think spending that amount of money on a dessert is outrageous! Rather use the the money for charity instead.
Oh my goodness, that is one extravagant sundae! But I kinda cringe at the thought of eating gold! lol
ReplyDeletethat sundae is insane!!
ReplyDeleteI've tried cupcake wines before, I love their name so I couldn't resist when I saw it at my grocery store :)
The dessert looks and sounds amazing! It can´t get any better than that. The wines, I like very sweet wines, I´ve tried Pinot Grigio and was quite nice. I love Downtown Abbey too! Have a lovely week <3<3
ReplyDeleteI would actually be a little scared of eating gold, so my excuse of spending $1000 would be on a new camera that I desperately need :) LoL... anyways, I totally agree on the Cupcake wines! They're awesome, reasonably priced, and tastes really good!
ReplyDeleteHave a beautiful day!
Good luck!
skinnymoonstick.blogspot.com
The ice cream looks insane! It sounds good, but I don't think I would spend the money. Maybe figure out my own alternative???? I haven't explored many wines. I am guessing that I also like something a little sweeter because I like Pinot Grigio.

I may be a foodie but I balk at paying ££££ for ice cream! The best restaurants I've been to are the hole in the wall places with the mom cooking in the kitchen, dad at the till and the kids serving the guests. The wine sounds absolutely yummy! You've piqued my interest. Now I've got to search for similar wines here.
ReplyDeleteThe sundae looks amazing but for that price eeeeeek hmmm maybe as a really special treat for myself on a special occasion haha
ReplyDeleteP.S when you eat the gold does it stay in your system?! that can't be good, no?
ReplyDeletehaha i remember seeing this sundae on a paris hilton show years ago.. she ordered it and then said ' i think i'd rather have a purse for that amount of money!' hahahah
ReplyDeleteohhh i'm going to order that moscato for my husband he LOVES moscato thanks for the tip!!
wow I dont think I can finish a dessert like that!! I had a very productive weekend.
ReplyDeletewww.thoughtofpaps.com
That sundae... hmmm yum! I could eat that in a flash and still want more... ;)
ReplyDeletex.o.x.o
I think I read about this - I have a very sweet tooth but not sure I could manage that!!! Good selection of wine there!
ReplyDeletehttp://missbbobochic.blogspot.com/
Although I'm not a big wine drinker, those wines sound really yummy! Definitely have to check them out!!
ReplyDeleteHappy Monday Kim!
xx Corinne
OMG! That's CRAZY about that sundae!! It's hard to fathom $1000 for a sundae when it's all going to come out of one end, if you know what I mean! LOL!
ReplyDeleteAnd I LOVE Cupcake wines! I've tried the whites and reds, and all have been fab!!
So glad you had a nice weekend! Happy Chinese New Year Kim!!
xo, sam
P.S. I had to post this here too! The rat is a great sign! That was my dad's zodiac sign too. Dragons and rats have great compatibility! I knew there was a reason I've always thought you were great!! :)
i've heard of that place Serendipity! and wow, $1000! that is just so crazy. i would love to taste it, but definitely not paying for it.

I wholeheartedly agree with Sam! I would never spend 1K on anything let alone a sundae that will come in and out, even if I was a millionaire! Sometimes the best food are the cheap ones, I love the $1 stalls in NYC ;)
ReplyDeleteThese wines look amazing, I use to never drink wine but since starting law school have acquired a tasting for them. Thanks for sharing such a great find love!
Kim! love this post! (and anything food related!) I cruz the grocery store like most women cruz the shopping mall. I LOVE the cupcake vineyard wines too! Oh and I think we should split one of those 1000 dollar sundays once we both become affluent bloggers. hahahaa

that sundae may look amazing, but no way am I spending that much for it! I'll just buy myself a CASE of Cupcake wine (very good wine) and I'm set.

Glad you had a good weekend! Mine was fun but too short! I'm a fan of cupcake wine, they sell it in the supermarket here, but glad you reminded me, it's time for a change.
ReplyDeletexo Mary Jo
When I lived in NY I heard about that fancy Serendipity sundae, outrageous huh? Love Cupcake wines, tasty and affordable. Oh gosh, I miss wine, champagne. Have a drink today for me Kim!
ReplyDeleteRed Soles and Red Wine
It probably tastes like shit - all these distractions kill the taste; they're just there as expensive space fillers and not because their flavors are compatible. I'm all for materialism and opulence but this is too gaudy for me.
ReplyDeleteI love white wine and zinfandel; the gentler the better. I don't have a favorite brand because I'm open to trying anything.
Holy horses that is ridiculous!
ReplyDeleteSee Me Rwar
Sounds like you had a great weekend :) That is one decadent dessert!
ReplyDeleteThat is...absurd! I mean, it looks incredibly tasty...but I think I'd rather try a few other gourmet chocolates and ice creams for $1000 ;)

I remember seeing that sundae on the menu the last time I went to Serendipity...can't fathom paying that for a dessert! Love Cupcake Vineyards but have never tried their bubbly, I will have to hunt it out (as I love bubbles!) Great dress, the draping is beautiful, as is that rich plum color. :)
ReplyDeleteI love cupcake merlot! So yummy.
ReplyDeleteooh, i'm intrigued by the moscato d'asti! i just like saying the name, too! i will try that one.
ReplyDeletevery pretty dress, i like the color of it. i know i should pay more attention to those deals...you can find some amazing deals online.
[oomph.]
For some reason I think of heard of this red velvet wine! So happy u like it, i'm interested in trying once im no longer pregs. And yes, the year of the dragon! My boy will be born this year! Hope its a good thing!
ReplyDeleteAesthetic Lounge
What a fun wine company name! I love ice cream but I could never spend that much on a sundae!
ReplyDeletexo erica
Oh, that sundae...I think I might add that to my bucket list, but it's almost too pretty to eat. ;0)
ReplyDeletethanks for all the love on my blog! haha, i need to get my eyebrows done as well. Your weekend sounded lovely :)
ReplyDeleteFor the sundae, do you at least get to keep the spoon and glass?! Egads!
ReplyDeleteThat's definitely an expensive treat! I get to keep the spoon right? haha. I've been wanting to try the red velvet wine, I love the description. My favorite wine is Barefoot's Pinot Grigio.
ReplyDeleteThat sundae looks SO GOOD. Very decadent.. but I wouldn't shell out $1000 for it! Thanks for sharing :)
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh, I can't even imagine what that Serendipity delight must taste like! Makes you wonder, doesn't it, who has ordered it? lol And that wine sounds delicious! Making a note of the one you loved .. I like sweeter wines more than dry. Thanks for such a lovely comment, Kim, you're a delight! Love your blog and love being a new blogging buddie of yours. xoxo

happy new year, Kim!
ReplyDeletei love reading your posts.
the moscato sounds amazzzing!
i wish i could drink a little better (since i get red all over my body and have to lie down after 1 beer -_-+), but i never say no to good moscato wine.
That sundae really is something else... Although I have to say, I think I would prefer my gold in jewelry form :) I wouldn't say no to the ice cream, though!
ReplyDeleteSpeaking of treats, that Cupcake wine sounds amazing. I must investigate and see if they ship to Canada, anything that involves dessert is right up my alley.
Hope you're doing well, Kim! I am loving your revamped blog. Hugs.
xox,
Cee
I've heard about that $1000 sundae - absolutely crazy, kim! I would never . . .even if I had the money to throw around I wouldn't buy that. Can you say "waste"?
ReplyDeleteI've only been to Serendipity once. Well, *outside* Serendipity, since the wait was 2 hours long -.0
http://carrymel.blogspot.com
Whoa mama! $1000 sundae? No thanks. I'll take Ben & Jerry's any day! As for Cupcake, boyfriend and I LOVE them! So tasty and affordable.
ReplyDeleteI think Paris Hilton ate one of these sundaes- I remember reading about it somewhere! mmmmm looks delish! You reminded me-I need to make an eyebrow appointment lol!
ReplyDeleteHappy be-lated New Years Kim! Did you change the lay out of your blog?! It's gorgeous!! Love it!!
ReplyDeleteMoscato is about the only wine I honestly love. :) That dessert be crazy though. I can buy a lot of things for $1000 - it actually kind of makes me sick that there is such a thing. Somebody could be helping someone in need instead of dropping a grand on a sundae. Sigh.
ReplyDeletehttp://theclosetintervention.blogspot.com/
oh the ever so popular opulence sundae!!! if i can afford that, i'd prob spend it on an actual piece of gold LOL
ReplyDeletei am def gonna try out the Red Velvet wine!! my friend raved about it just the other day too.
hope u have a love new year!!! xx
Wow that sundae sounds awesome.
ReplyDeleteCome check out my blog FEST about food, style & travel.
XO,

Moscato D'asti is definitely one of my favourite wines! I love this post... makes me want to order sundae.. any sundae!
ReplyDeleteoxo,
ML
wow, that sundae is amazing. could never fork out the dough for that though! i need to get my eyebrows done. totally jealous of you!!!
ReplyDeletehttp://spinning-threads.blogspot.com
Not sure if I will eat that 1000 dollar sundae! LOL
ReplyDeleteI hope you enjoy your drinks! Wish I could join you ;p

The Sweetest Escape
happy new year to you as well! that is one expensive dessert. I'm not sure i would spend that much for one dessert.
ReplyDeletei can see you had a wonderful weekend!!! we always buy moscato d'asti :)
ReplyDeletexoxo, Haus of Gala
oh my gosh, I have heard of that sundae! isn't it amazingly decadent!!
ReplyDeleteWow you would want that to be a very yummy dessert for that price!
ReplyDeleteawayfromtheblue.blogspot.com
As pretty as it is, I think I'll stick to peanut butter ice cream. :)
ReplyDeleteEven if I had $1000 to spare, I wouldn't spend it on that sundae! And I'm not sure about edible gold, not that I've tried it but it just doesn't seem it would actually be THAT good. I rather buy some gold to wear!
ReplyDeleteI consider myself a foodie but I wouldn't plunk down $1000 on a single sundae. A full meal maybe. Like Stacey, I think I'd rather use the money on some gold to wear :)
ReplyDeleteI saw this ice cream on one of the news flash a few years ago. Well, actually I'm not sure if it was the same ice cream sundae but the price of $1000 is definitely the same. The main reason for the price was due to the edible gold too so I'm not sure if they're the same coz you mentioned a few other exotic and expensive ingredients here. Probably an upgrade version? lol
ReplyDeleteGold is actually tasteless. So I guess this ice cream is for the really rich people or people who just want some experience with eating a $1000 ice cream sundae.
I could buy lots of more permanent things for that price!
oh i have heard of this icecream..and also a gold leaf cake..i think it's madness spending so much on icecream or cake..but if anyone evr wants to treat me to those i hell won't refuse!!!
ReplyDeleteand the wine website sounds amazing! i love red wine..i prefer spicy flavours..
Those wines sound pretty amazing. I'm a fan of any white wines, but I'm not really a fan of red. Although the health benefits of red far outweigh those of white so I may have to start making the switch!
ReplyDelete$1000 on a sundae... hmmm, maybe on a pair of shoes instead! I cannot go past a moscato, they always feel so joyful to drink! And don't get me started on Downton Abbey, I'm officially hooked!
ReplyDeleteps. just stumbled across your lovely blog, and look forward to my daily dose of sweetness
wow that dessert is way over the top. i would so do it if i were married 50 years...golden anniversary!
ReplyDeleteid never!!!!! Lol but it sounds so divine
ReplyDeleteoh no i wouldn't pay that much money for FOOD. its kind of ridiculus
ReplyDelete
