Karl Lagerfeld photographed the campaign at France's Hôtel du Cap Eden Roc. Models Saskia de Brauw and Joan Smalls did a wonderful job striking poses on various gymnastic equipment. The pictures are breathtaking and these models truly make it look effortless. Karl has raised the bar with this photo shoot.
My Sweet Treats (weekend purchases): I've decided to purchase a little something for myself every weekend. I think it's important as women, that we treat ourselves to something we love. We're always putting others needs first (children, job, etc.) I'll showcase mine every Monday. Cute Spring clothes are slowly trickling in. It stays warmer longer here in New Orleans, and my Summer wardrobe is usually worn out by the end of summer. So I definitely need to start adding to it. This 'tartlet burst top' from Anthropologie caught my eye. I could've played it safe and gone with the navy, but I chose the dark orange instead. I've been eyeing this 'Grapevine' Aerosoles t-strap. Aerosoles super discounted the green, brown and mustard suede. I purchased it in the green suede. I'll get more use out of it next fall/winter. Have you treated yourself lately?
You're right, this photoshoot is amazing! I love the idea of treating yourself to something every weekend. I would love to do the same myself :)

You have to give those models credit for some of those photos. Especially the one dangling on the trapeze in the water!
ReplyDeleteLove your t-strap shoes. The fashion magazines say these are the hot thing for spring/summer. I spent the last of my gift cards from Christmas and treated myself to a pair of leopard loafers! Heather
lovely photo shoot
ReplyDeleteGorgeous photos, love the movement and mood of them! Most definitely right in B&W!! How exciting the Olympics too :))) That is a fantastic idea to purchase something for yourself each weekend. We do tend to put others first, since having my daughters, I have found that time for myself is so needed or I cannot function properly for them (with my first, I put myself last too much from the pressure of others telling me how to do it and it wore me down and I got really bad baby blues because I felt I had to be perfect and you just can't do that, you need time to breathe)and I have to be tip top for them, no less. And I am woman, so I need these things, hahaha!! But, its fun to get pampered and have fun and that is what we need in life - more fun!! Gorgeous purchases, really pretty!! Hope your Monday is fab darling girl!! xoxox
ReplyDeletevery impressive photoshoot! and nice idea for a weekend treat :)
ReplyDeleteThese images are gorgeous! I love the lighting, the setting and the languid movement created by the models. Totally agree about treating ourselves to something we love. Great picks for yourself. The tartlet burst top is really sweet and the color is so lovely and vibrant! Have a great week Kim!
ReplyDeleteThe campaign is lovely- definitely reminds me of an ANTM photo shoot! And I love the idea of treating yourself like that! Unfortunately I treat myself too often and have to cut down!

So, I love that though they look like they're working the muscles so much, the models still look like ballerinas. So graceful.

These photos are beautiful. It is amazing that they can look so graceful in those awkward positions. I find I treat myself too much and have to force myself to cut back lol -Dreama
ReplyDeleteLove the fact that the shots are in black & white and the 1920's feel they have - beautiful.
ReplyDeleteThe top and shoes are lovely. I've been lucky to have found a great blazer - bright red with white polka dots - from Zara in the sales. Half prize and fantastic for Spring, so I'm very pleased with myself ;-)
Wishing you a lovely week, thanks for all your comments. Bisous xo
so beautiful! Thanks for sharing. And great buys too, definitely great to treat yourself :)
ReplyDeleteGirl I am so on board with your weekend treats!!! Good for you! And that top is fabulous - gorgeous details with the one strap :)

it's so dreamy, I love it, and I really want to learn how to shoot b&w photos!
ReplyDeleteThese photographic images are truly fantastic! Clean and simple yet they make the right statment. Karl has such a great eye for photos.
ReplyDeleteYou are so right about us ladies treating ourselves. I have been on a self shopping hiatus and you have inspired me to get out there and at least get a few things to pep things up. :)
Thanks for your comment on my blog sweets! xoxo

ReplyDeleteI say next year we do a blogging fantasy team. We should show the boys how it's done! haha
Great shoot. I like the idea of treating yourself every weekend, I might have to try it out.
ReplyDeleteThis is amazing! I bet that model never thought in a million years she'd be doing the upward facing dog in a chanel dress. Could Karl do anything wrong? No.
ReplyDeleteAw, I like this photoshoot, my daughter does gymnastics...the open water in the background makes me dizzy though, I feel for the models if they have a fear of heights and open water like I do...haha.
ReplyDeleteI love the top and shoes! I like the idea of treating yourself.
I so love this campaign! Chanel is amazing!
ReplyDeletexo Mary Jo
I usually don't think much of photo shoots but this one is amazing. The models really do make it look easier and the Olympic flavor is easily seen. Ah one day I want to own a Chanel bag. ^^
ReplyDeleteIt's great that you treat yourself! I love the blog and I think orange will be a great color. T-strap shoes are super cute as well. LOL I totally treat myself all the time, I should cut makeup. XD

Hi Kim! First, the Chanel photoshoot: don't you wonder if the models were loving all the poses or were afraid of hanging out there over the water? They look beautiful on the gym equipment and you're right ... make it look so effortless! I love to treat myself as often a possible too ... keeps life exciting LOL! Let's see ... recent treats have been: a smaller (and lighter) Coach cross-body bag because I hate carrying heavy bags while shopping and wanted to be hands free (and I'm loving it ... I was right ... so freeing!) ... another frequent treat place is Sephora (love to try out new skincare and scents). My biggest recent purchase, however, was my brand new Nikon camera. Been saving up for that one (combined with gift money from Christmas) and I'm in camera heaven! ;)
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for your sweet words on Ooh La Frou Frou, Kim, and your compliments on the post and card (and the image is before it's even dressed in glitter and crystals) ;)

As a former gymnast, this Chanel campaign really struck a cord with me. After all, Karl Lagerfeld combined my first love, gymnastics, with my current passion... fashion. What's not to love? Not to mention that those black and white shots are beyond stunning. I'm so excited for the summer Olympics this year in London - to watch the gymnastics, of course! Can't wait :)
ReplyDeletexox,
Cee
I haven't treated myself lately, maybe I will this weekend. hehe..I love how you shared these Chanel ads because I think they are so cool and it's like Cirque du Soleil meets fashion. Great post,

What a beautiful top- I love the colour! This Chanel ad is great- the styling is so unique and the clothing is breathtaking!
ReplyDeletewhat an interesting campaign. and i couldn't agree with you more...we all deserve a little treat. good for you for taking action!
ReplyDeleteOMG I love the Olympics and can't wait!
ReplyDeleteThis ad campaign is stunning for sure - Chanel always rocks it. Your purchases are darling - way to treat yourself!
http://theclosetintervention.blogspot.com/
these models make the high bar so glamorous! I love the black and white.
ReplyDeleteChic on the Cheap
Weirdly enough, while I'm not a fan of the clothes (too... high fashion for me) I really like this shoot. Shows that women are strong in addition to being models.
ReplyDeleteBreathtaking photography - to me, that's what high fashion shoot should look like :) the models look like true athletes, well, At Least ballerinas. Loving it.
ReplyDeleteAnd your purchases are sweet, too, I love that shade of orange and I think it'll look fabulous on you :) I treated myself with a pair of bright blue jeans this weekend, and I can't wait to style them ;)
Have a lovely week, Kim! xoxo
What a cool shoot and I love the concurrent front and back shot of the dresses!
ReplyDeleteI may be getting a Chanel bag (pseudo vintage of course!) We'll see!

Macarons and Pearls
even with flaws i grudgingly accept that lagerfeld is a marketing genius..he knows what sells.and what is the right way to go..
ReplyDeleteas for treats..i think everyone needs it.i got a few new things.a scarf,a new pair of jeggings..and loafers which weren't my size..so i had to give it away to my sister ..hehe
Karl Lagerfeld reminds me of a proper renaissance man who is good in everything. The photos are breathtaking. I totally agree about women treating ourselves. I have friends who haven't bought a single piece of clothing for themselves in years, not because they couldn't afford to but they put themselves last.
ReplyDeleteI love the last image from this campaign very much.
ReplyDeleteYour idea of little treats every weekend sounds like fun. :)
xxx
it is amazing what the models can do. i think they have to be more than a pretty face or a great figure. they're actors who have to tell a story. :) amazing photos for karl's campaign. :)
ReplyDeletegreat purchases, kim. i adore the top!! the strap detail is gorgeous! great choice. :) no, i haven't treated myself recently. my new year's resolution is to re-use my clothes from the closet... and not shop for anything unless it's an absolute must-have. we had so many expenses recently that i really have to tighten my belt.. :)
xoxo
