Elizabeth Banks as the character Effie Trinket |
Sorry, that's my tum tum! Is it lunchtime yet? LOL This bowl of oatmeal is just not cutting it. HaHaHa
I desperately need to talk about another "hunger" today.
The movie 'The Hunger Games' (US) (UK) comes out March 23, 2012. Everyone excited? Personally, I can't wait for The Dark Knight Rises. Christian Bale! LOL But hey Lenny Kravitz is in this movie. Eye candy MUCH! LOL
I swear, I'm so behind on this trend. So I need all the The Hunger Games experts to step up and give me the scoop. This fashionista needs HELP! :)
I hope I'm not too late. I did a little research this weekend and this is what I found.
My TWO questions are in red. Thanks :)
The Hunger Games movie is based on THREE (3) Suzanne Collins novels: The Hunger Games, Catching Fire and Mockingjay. Do I need to read ALL 3 for this movie? (source)
This is the trailer. Will this be the ONLY movie for the books? or Will there be 3 separate movies? You know how they like to divide movies up! Part 1...Part 2...Part 3! LOL What's the word?
I haven't read one page (LOL), but I know two characters I want to see:
Effie (Elizabeth Banks) and Cinna (Lenny Kravitz).
The polish names coincide with the specialties of each district.
Luxe and Lush – District 1 (Luxury)
Stone Cold – District 2 (Masonry)
Riveting – District 3 (Technology)
Hook and Line – District 4 (Fishing)
Electrify – District 5 (Power)
Fast Track – District 6 (Transportation)
Mahogany Magic – District 7 (Lumber)
Dress Me Up – District 8 (Textiles)
Harvest Moon – District 9 (Grain)
Foie Gras – District 10 (Livestock)
Agro – District 11 (Agriculture)
Smoke and Ashes – District 12 (Mining)
Riveting – District 3 (Technology)
Hook and Line – District 4 (Fishing)
Electrify – District 5 (Power)
Fast Track – District 6 (Transportation)
Mahogany Magic – District 7 (Lumber)
Dress Me Up – District 8 (Textiles)
Harvest Moon – District 9 (Grain)
Foie Gras – District 10 (Livestock)
Agro – District 11 (Agriculture)
Smoke and Ashes – District 12 (Mining)
So am I up to date? Missing anything? Let me know your thoughts on the upcoming Hunger Games Movie. Have a Great Monday!

ReplyDeleteI haven't even read these books, thanks for the update on the movie. I can't believe that's Elizabeth Banks, she looks pretty amazing! Had no idea Lenny Kravitz was acting, now I'd really want to see that!
ReplyDeleteI like the glaze colours, they are so unusual. Not shades that are we commonly see, I like Fast Track and Smoke & Ashes

I still need to read the books! I'm so behind! I love the colors they choose though!
ReplyDeleteI think, based on the trailer, it's just the first book. I recommend them, Kim. They're super fast to read and quite engaging, even for someone as picky and judgmental as me (and believe me, I have some issues with these books, but for brain candy, they're quite good)

Girl...I haven't read any of the Hunger Games books either (had never heard of them until about a month ago). But you need to go here: http://www.busybeelauren.com/ for all things Hunger Games. Lauren is actually one of my favorite bloggers (I think you'll love her) but she is OBSESSED with Hunger Games so she's been doing lots of posts lately. She's also very sweet & would probably be very open to answering any Hunger Games questions for you.
ReplyDeleteCheck it out! :o)
Exciting! I have to find out more about the Hunger Games--never heard of it, but now I'm curious!
ReplyDeletexo Mary Jo
I've only heard of the Hunger Games through people raving about it on their blogs, I am very intrigued to find out more about it, so thank you for sharing the trailer! I can't want for The Dark Knight Rises, Christian Bale is gorgeous. xo
ReplyDeleteYou just need to read the first book before the movie comes out in March, but trust me, you'll dive right into the second one! I'm a new follower, follow me back if you'd like!

I can't wait until this comes out, I have some exciting news I've been dying to share...and I'm so tempted to share it, but I must wait...*sigh*
ReplyDeleteYou don't need to read all three books, It's following the first book. They are making a movie per book. It's geared towards a younger audience, but I thinks it's enjoyable, but I may be biased.
I am on the same page I wonder if I should read it before I watch the movie! It looks like a really interesting movie!
ReplyDelete<3 Kelly
I'm still reading Catching Fire - IT's AWESOME.
ReplyDeleteI think you should totally read the book because I just wonder how the movie will be like :3
girl, i have no clue!! i'm even more behind than you...haven't been to an (adult) movie in years. the book covers do look familiar, though, and based on a few comments above, it sounds like a great reads. will add this to my queue!

ReplyDeleteI love the polish colors, I want to try the Luxe and Lush.
I'm right there with you - aka behind! haha. I haven't read these yet and I'm still on the fence about them. I'm not a series reader generally. I do love those polishes though, the Luxe and Lush looks so fun for spring!
ReplyDeletei plowed through all 3 books in a matter of 5 days. yeah, but that's because i enjoy reading - plus it was a pretty good trilogy.
ReplyDeletedidn't know they had cosmetics, etc marketed under it. interesting, ahah. and kinda ironic! if you ever get to reading the book/s or see the movie, you'll get what i mean. with the capitol and all :)
anyways, HI! eheh.

I am SO excited for the movie. I loved the books. My husband just rolled his eyes that there is a nail polish color for each district. lol.

This sounds like a great movie! =)

I am so behind the times when it comes to pulp fiction, and especially when it's fantasy based. I've heard so much about The Hunger Games, but I haven't gotten past page one. I just can't get into anything that involves alterna reality, I don't know why. I could definitely get into the China Glaze nailpolishes based on the book, though, the warm neutral shades are perfect for everyday wear. Oh, and that glitzy orange? Amazing!
ReplyDeletexox,

The trailer looks amazing. Makes you want to see the movie :)

I can't wait for the movie to come out! I have read all of the books, but I don't know the answer to your questions. However, they were really quick reads, if that is any motivation:)

Ohhhhhhh Lenny *sigh*.....................................
ReplyDeleteoh sorry, I got lost there for a moment...hahah dreaming.....
I love Lenny! I haven't joined the whole Hunger Games bandwagon yet. I need to find out more about these books and movies (one movie? More movies?)
See? I know nothing. But thanks for talking about Lenny....*sigh*.....
; )
I don't read the Hunger Games so the majority of my opinion is secondhand. But apparently, it's super ironic that they're making polishes out of the Hunger Games characters because it's the luxury and extravagance that the Capital is supposed to represent.
ReplyDeleteHaha. I hope someone else can explain it better.
goodness i love nail polishes! i haven't read the hunger games books but admit the preview for the movie makes it look good. i agree that the dark knight rises looks awesome!!!

I am so excited about the hunger games! I absolutely adore the books and hope the movie won't kill it! haha
ReplyDeleteYou only need to read the first book to see the movie and they are breaking it up into several films.
I'm loving the nail polish colors too!
Aw, Kim, now you have me laughing out loud! I read all these books at least three times, and I LOVED it! I think you would too :) I promise :) Can´t wait to see Lenny!

Stop by sometimes :)
Macarons and Pearls
I'm a HUGE reader, and typically shy away from things that get this much attention (i never read or saw anything concerning twilight) but many of my other nerd reading friends recommended the series. I just finished the first book (literally in 2 days), and LOVED it. It keeps you on the edge of your seat the whole time.
ReplyDeleteAnswers to your questions: you do NOT need to read all three books for the first movie... which also answers your second, yes, there will be a separate movie for each book. Whether or not they'll divide up the last book in to two parts like they did with Harry Potter and Twilight, I'm not sure. But for now.. if you want to read it, just get the first one The Hunger Games. You will not regret it!!!
