From SUGAR to SH*T: The 2013 Chanel Cruise Collection

I REALLY contemplated about writing this post. I mean the title of my blog is A Very SWEET Blog and I'm about to say anything but. I'm not even going to post the entire 2013 Chanel Cruise Collection. I was that dismayed. The theme song  for this collection, should've been, "Send in the Clowns". I'm sure you guys have seen it. I decided to only post Chanel's Press Kit photos from the collection (featuring model Cara Delevingne), which is a little bit more palatable. She doesn't even look happy. HaHaHa

I don't know you guys. I've looked at the entire 2013 Chanel Cruise Collection from the right, left, top, bottom, and I'm still not feeling it. Those jean knicker-boxer pedal pushers, orthopedic platform sneakers and hips-out-to-there skirts and dresses are just irking me. Do you think a drink might help me like it? LOL I like some of the jackets or top parts of some of the dresses and then I look at the bottom and it's all funky (wideeeee leg pants etc.) I know it's an ode to Marie Antoinette butttttttttttttttttttttttt...LOL

WHAT ARE YOUR THOUGHTS? Maybe I'm missing something. After this post, I know I will be blacklisted from Chanel. LOL Let's Vote!!! Shout out your opinion. I'll tally up the LIKES and DISLIKES and share the consensus tomorrow.

  1. Oh I totally agree with you! I like the top parts but it goes so wrong on the bottom.... Those wide legged pants are much too wide and that dress with the crazy wide skirt looks like it wouldn't fit through a door!

The colours are nice though, I like that :)

  2. Ok, there are aspects I like and don't like. I would wear some of these, but the girl staring back at me is a bit annoying. It seems to try hard really and not laid back or regal for that matter. It's like Rainbow Brite meets the ghetto meets Marie Anoinette and this girl's face says it all - like help, get me the hell out of these!!! Hahahahahah!! But, I do like number 2, 8, 9, and 10 outfits, lol!! :))))))))))) Hope your week is going fab!!

  4. Hmmm, some of the stuff I like- like the classic jackets, others I'm definitely not into. Plus, I really hate the styling. Why does no one ever go for simple and elegant styling?!

  5. I think that first powder blue dress is gorgeous with all the detailing in the front and very ladylike. I am also not a fan of those terrible platform shoes though!

  6. Kim: all i can say is a "high" fashion can be very difficult to understand. Obviously i also have a hard time interpreting its beauty..haha...i dont have such sophisticated vision or what?!?! They dont always design clothes for normal people to wear on the street, it is quite overrated at times.

  7. this is far from the 'chanel' we are used to seeing. but I have to say that I'm happy they stepped a little out fo the box. I think the outfits have editorial appeal. and if they stepped this far out of the box, im sure the next collection will be even better.

  8. I gotta say, I really like a lot of the looks. I know they're not the classic Chanel that people love and are familiar with, but I really do love super poofy skirts and ruffles and pastels!

  11. I think some pieces are good for runway but not good in practice. Will check out the collection in the store. : )

  13. I love that you posted this and called it from Sugar to Shit because honesty is always appreciated.

I see a few hits, but mainly a ton of misses.

  14. *shudders* I think PARTS of the looks could be great if styled correctly but ugh, it is dissappointing! Way to theatrical for me. I think in small doses maybe... but overall, it's way to overwhelming in a not so great way. Such a shame. Xox <3 hautepinkpretty.com

  15. It's almost too abstract to be Chanel. The brand is associated with timeless glamour and sophistication. :S

You do always find the coolest fashion videos though. I like the garden runway concept. Gorgeous!

  16. I'm with you Kim, I am not loving this collection. The shoes are awful! I do like the jacket in the last photo though.

  17. Hmm... first thing that came to my mind was Alice in Wonderland. The collection seem to resonate well with the madness of if all.

    Blacklist me too.

  18. Kim, I totally get where you're coming from. I don't think the styling helped at all but some of the silhouettes are just not very wearable. Chanel comes from a place of classic elegance and this isn't it. Hope you're having a lovely week my dear!

  19. I agree with you. Looks like they have tried to step out their comfort zone, but some designs look like costumes, not outfits. Who would've thought, right?
I just found you on Instagram and followed, and it would be lovely if you joined mine as well!
Have a very sweet day, Kim!
    Good luck!

  22. hmmm, I like some of the tops, that first sweater is beautiful as is the white jacket with red and blue trim but the skirts/dresses/cropped pants are just so voluminous I can't imagine people wearing them. Then again isn't haute couture meant to be admired for being tough to wear?

  23. I totally agree! I, for one, can appreciate artistic vision. I can even appreciate obscure fashions. But this collection is just not there. This reminds why I never have claimed to like Chanel. I love the bags, but not the clothes. I also have a feeling that Mr. Lagerfeld just pushes the limits because he can and because he has a giant ego.

  24. Aside from the white jacket, I'm not feeling it at all!, totally with you on this one!

    [oomph.]

  25. I felt this way too, I often feel the Chanel shows are a little silly. I am not crazy about Karl Lagerfeld's work. Which I probably should not say in the fashion blogging community!

  26. Woah! those clothes are ulgy as! What's up with those wide leg pants?... and why is the girl hold them out like that? Cant stand the white grapes/cherries on that mumsy cardigan. A total loss...
