Last year J.Crew came out with the cutest pair of glitter sandals (see pic below). I adored them (and obviously everyone else haha), but decided to hold off buying them. J.Crew shoes are not cheap! So when I went back to buy them, you guys can imagine what happened next. Yep, they were GONE! G-O-N-E!!! I'm 6ft and wear a size 11 shoe. I didn't think MY size would be gone so fast. WTH???
So the next thing I did was go to net-a-porter. I'm going to let you in on a secret. Shhh, don't tell anybody! When designer stuff sells out at the regular store, they usually have it on net-a-porter. Well guess what? It was sold out there TOO! Well the other day, I found the damn sandal on eBay! Some guy is selling them for $350.00, but only in a size 8 and 9 (if you're interested). So the bottom line is, he doesn't have my size, I'm not paying him $350 even if he did have my size and I can't find this shoe anywhere. Ohhhh, what a HARD LESSON to learn!
Second Chances! So, I was on Pinterest the other day and decided to type "glitter sandals" in the search box. A lot of glitter sandals came up! I looked through them all. Ho! Hum! They're not like the J. Crew crushed glitter sandal (sigh, sigh) and then ALL OF A SUDDEN...the trumpets blared...the fat lady began to SING...and a light glowed around a pair of shoes on the screen. Omg'd, I LOVE THESE! Let me click on the link to see who makes them! Pixie Market! Pixie Market? I've never heard of them before! They're in New York! I checked the listing, and they only had ONE SIZE LEFT IN THAT SANDAL. A SIZE 11!!! It was MINE! MINE! I grabbed my credit card, before any other big foot size 11 Fashionista could purchase them and here they are (see pics below). What GLITTERY GOODNESS they are! THE END! Don't you love HAPPY ENDINGS! :) I'm a happy girl! Pixie Market says I'm a Pixienista! LOL I Love You Pixie Market!

Lesson Learned: If you LOVE IT, BUY IT! Don't let it WALK AWAY! HaHa
I love J.Crew but actually love these more! Great choice. And yep, I have been in that situation and buy if I love now! :)
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad this story had a happy ending - I love the ones you bought even more than the ones that got away!
ReplyDeleteAnd I reviewed that chanel hitchcock collection - with a little shout out to you! http://beaut.ie/blog/2012/first-look-chanels-moody-and-mysterious-autumn-winter-collection-les-essentiels-de-chanel/
Kim,
ReplyDeleteThey are gorgeous and now I want a pair. The same thing has happened to me before this dress at f21 was gorgeous I said I'll get it tomorrow and bam it was gone just like that.
P.s. I had no idea you are 6ft I had to read that twice. You're so lucky I am a shorty here standing at 5'1 on a good day ;)
I've never heard of Pixie Market but now I'm intrigued! And actually I love the sandals you bought more than the J Crew ones. So fun!
ReplyDeletethey are cute sandals! I really like them, glad you were able to get something similar to what you wanted, even if you had to wait a little longer.
ReplyDeleteThat just makes the story even sweeter when you tell everyone who asks where you got your pretty shoes! :)

Oh Kim, i honestly love the pair you found more than those of J.Crew. A great combination of fun orange color and fun glitter. I think it is meant to be that the J.Crew sandals were sold out so that you could find these beauties. That i call a happy ending :D
ReplyDeleteoh my! how cute they are!! i was so curious after reading your tweet last night. a purrrfect pair! ;)
ReplyDeleteHah! That's really great advice! I really hate not buying something and then having to spend the whole night thinking about it. I'm glad you had a 'second chance' and found these sandals. They look fabulous!

Absolutely agree with your rule! I have a few regrets of my own...
ReplyDeleteGorgeous sandals! Hope you two (well, three, if I cound each shoe separately) will have lots of fun walking. :)
Your new sandals are absolutely gorgeous!! Glittertastic! Hehe!
ReplyDeleteI know that awful feeling you're talking about: when you see something you loooove and think, "I'll just think about it and come back tomorrow" and yes, it's GONE!! That has happened to me on a few occassions. Which is why, like you, if I see something I desperately want, I buy it. I'm too stressed out already to add that kind of misery on my plate! Haha!
Oh my gosh - I love this post - not only do you sound like me when I regret not buying something but you found a pair I love even more! Seriously - when you showed your shoes I wanted to buy some but all SOLD OUT. Great buy and love glitter all the way.

I like the last sandals!
ReplyDeleteThis has definitely happened to me, but I think you lucked out on this one. The shoes you ended up getting are cuter, imo. Super cute!
ReplyDeleteSo pretty! Love them! I do the same thing...I guess I always tell myself if it's meant to be they'll come back into my life somehow. :o)
ReplyDeleteI would normally go for J Crew but in this case, the sandals you bought are far more eye catching and prettier.
ReplyDeletei literally go through this ALL THE TIME! i try to stick it out for sales & then miss it completely (with my heart in my stomach by the end of the night)! so glad you found another adorable pair of these sandals!
ReplyDeletethe j.crew ones totally remind me of a pair from H&M- i don't know if you're into pink but check them out: (http://www.hm.com/us/product/00576?article=00576-A#article=00576-B)
& thanks for all of your comments on my blog- you are literally THE best & i seriously always smile when i read your supportive comments :D thanks so much for being an awesome fellow blogger! *hugs*

Ohh I love your pair, the orange is really a fun pop of color! I was going to say H&M has a similar pair out right now, I haven't found them in any store but have seen them online.
ReplyDeleteThat exact thing happened to me with a Modcloth top recently. I literally thought about for a moment too long and it was gone.
Oooh, those are gorgeous!! I like them even better than the J. Crew sandal. Waiting worked out well for you, after all. ;)
ReplyDeleteI've been in that situation more times then I want to admit. The worst is when I'm traveling and I see something and think "I'll come back for it" and I don't or can't remember where it was.
ReplyDeleteSuper cute sandals!
Hi Kim! I love this story! I actually like your pair more than the J. Crew one. You look so petite for a size 11 feet. Anyway, if it's an expensive item, I usually sleep on it, but if it's something that I can afford, I usually buy it right away. Lol.

I'm glad you found a pair of sandals you liked just as much! They are so pretty.
ReplyDeleteSomething similar happened to me the other day, there was a huge sale online and a bag I kind of liked and instead of ordering it right away I kept browsing and by the time I went to order the bag they had sold out. Oh, well I guess it wasn't meant to be.
I'll have to check out Pixie Market.
Kim! I had no idea you were so tall! Typically its not that hard to find shoes (esp when you have bigger feet), but I understand why the J Crew pair sold out so quick! They're super cute! Glad you were able to find another pair that's equally as great (if not better cause I like the orange!) It's a tough lesson to learn, but I always just buy when I see something I like, then debate on it at home so I don't have to miss out!
ReplyDeleteThese sandals are so totally tes chic!

Gorgeous sandals, you got lucky. I like the ones you got better really :)) I have learned this lesson well, always get what you want in the first place or it will be gone. So many times I've liked something come back to get it and it was gone. So annoyed. So now, if I really like it, I get it straight away if I can :)) Saves me the sadness, haha!!
ReplyDeleteKim, I cannot agree with you more. While shopping Paris I saw a pair of ballerina flats with a crown jewel brooch (now mind you this was five years ago...way before the flat craze caught on in the U.S.)I promised to return and buy them but I never did and I still think about those darned shoes!!! Well if you want my opinion, I think the ones you got are actually more stunning than the J. Crew ones :) Happy wearing!
ReplyDeleteif i start telling you how many times this has happened to me i would have to write an essay!lesson learnt..i grab it if i know i wouldn't mind shelling out the non-sale price just to secure it!love the sandals kim!
ReplyDeletesuch amazing sandals! totally my style, kim. i'll have to check out their site... :D
ReplyDeleteYAY!!!! It WAS meant for you!!!! I have done the exact same thing - I call it 'NO Buyer's Regret' when I don't get it then regret it later!! LOL! LOVE your better and more awesome {grammar?} sandals!!!!!
ReplyDeletexo, sam
*Style of Sam*
Oo...me love!!!
ReplyDeleteThat's why I NEVER wait for sales...because my sizes are always the first to go, lol! Or At least that's how I justify my purchases! When I was in search for gingham shirts and couldn't find them, I got the last one on net a porter, hehe.
