DIOR Cherie Bow Collection Product Review

Sweet-Bittersweet-Not Sweet
The Dior Cherie Bow Collection is Bittersweet
Happy Friday Everybody! I purchased a couple of items from the Dior Cherie Bow Collection a couple of weeks ago and wanted to share my thoughts with you regarding the collection. I'm rating it Bittersweet. Let me explain why. Although it's a very expensive & pretty collection (especially if you like the color pink), there's nothing unique about any of the color palettes or the quality that you would expect by paying so much for it. You can easily find dupes (copies) of everything you see here at a much cheaper price. The quality is ok (and that includes the packaging), but for me it just doesn't warrant the exorbitant prices. I purchased this collection for two reasons: (1) I plan on wearing lots of pink this summer (2) this is my first Dior Cosmetic Collection and I really wanted to try and review their products. I've used Dior's nail lacquer before, but nothing else.

Rosy Bow Nail Lacquer
The nail lacquer was the best item out of the entire collection. I would describe it as a petal pink with a hint of lilac in it when applied. Once it dries, it turns into a pretty bubblegum pink. It's very thick, so you only need 1 coat. It dries fast. The brush shape is rectangular & flat (not too crazy about that) and it holds lots of polish. You really have to be careful not to apply too much.

Pink Happiness Blush
My second favorite item was the pink happiness blush. The name of this blush is definitely befitting, because it does put a smile on your face when you apply it. The cost not so much! HaHaHa. This is a two-toned pink blush. Blended together it gives you a very subtle hint of pink on your cheeks. It's very soft. Again, nice but nothing special.

Dior Addict Espiegle Lipstick
No matter how I photographed this lipstick, it always came out darker. Weird, but the true color is the gif which was taken outside. None of the other products did that, but oh well. LOL I don't think I'll buy this again. The color goes on light, is very sheer, but buildable. I had to go over my lips several times to get the color you see in the pic. To me it's very streaky and your lips have to be really moisturized or it will show every single line in your lip. It's just not a winner in my book.

Dior Rose Charmeuse Eyeshadow
Let me tell you what threw me for a loop with this palette! The hot pink shade (it should've been a lip color, instead of an eyeshadow)! It's pretty in the palette. It's pretty when you swatch it on your arm. However, no matter how I applied it to my eyelid (lid, middle,>), it either looked like I was going to an 80's party or had pink eye. LOL So I ended up only using the light pink, champagne color and black as an eyeliner. The CD shadow in the middle has specks of glitter in it. I didn't like that either. Pink eyeshadow is already difficult to wear, so if you're not a pro at applying it don't buy this. I would buy the Rose Ballerine eyeshadow palette instead (see below). It's much softer. Plus I have that cover eyelid thing like most Asians (I'm African American), so eyeshadows always puzzle me. I can work the hell out of a lipstick, blush and nail polish, but eyeshadow's MESS me UP (especially if there's more than 2 colors to apply)! HaHaHa

My facial expression is priceless huh? HaHaHa So what I'm saying is I can achieve this same look with less expensive brands and without the crazy Dior prices. The complete Dior Cherie Bow Collection is below. You can find it on Dior's website, Nordstrom, and Macy's. I've seen swatches of the Grey Sigh eyeshadow Twin Set and it's gorgeous. Hope this review helped you guys. Stop by Monday, because Shabby Apple wants to give one of my readers a $50 gift card. Have a Great Weekend!

  1. Ooh I love that polish - such a nice pink collection you got! Shame about the rest of the collection not really doing it for you, but I love the polish and the fact that you only have to use one coat of it - great! :)

  2. Thanks for the review Dior. I have the blush (gifted from a friend) and like it, but you're right - it's nice, but not $40 nice (or however much it is!)

    Have a good weekend dear!

  5. Thank you for such a great and honest review, Kim. I think the only Dior make-up I ever used was a lipstick that my mum gave me and that one was quite nice, especially in winter. Apart from that I haven't really tried anything... Those pinks look very pretty on you! x

  7. I love the idea of this collection, but I think your bittersweet rating is accurate - I've tried so many Dior products in the past and most really don't justify the price point. I do love their blushes, but the blush at Chanel is of the same quality at the same price point and in better packaging... I want to love Dior, but I feel like, at least in the cosmetics department, they need to meet me halfway :) I do love the look of the nail colour, though. It suits you perfectly!

  9. Thank you for another detailed useful review. The lipstick sounds definitely bitter. The nail polish looks great on your hands, but the application with such a dense product must be rather messy. As for the eyeshadow, I've had the same experience with any bubble pink shade I've tried. As much as I love that shade of pink, I think it might be suitable only for special occasions, combined with bright orange. All considered, you look very pretty and I think that would make a great profile picture! Lots of love Kimmy xoxo

  10. The colors and packaging are indeed very pretty but it's s ahme not all of them were all that wearable. I agree with you that the prices of Dior's beauty products are a bit steep for the quality. Anyway you look so cute modeling as always Kim!

    Have a fab weekend girl!

  11. The colours and packaging look wonderful, shame it didn't work for you, especially at those prices. But, I appreciate your honest opinion of them and not just saying it's great because it's Dior. I hope you have a marvellous day doll & weekend too :)) <3<3

  12. The nail polish is a really pretty shade of pink! I appreciate that you give your honest opinion when reviewing products. I've never tried any Dior products because of the price.

  13. I am sorry to hear that your money was not well spent.
I hate it when I make an investment and then the products are not worth it.
Now on the bright side, the colors are very nice and they look marvelous on you.

  14. So glad that you did this lovely review Kim, even though the pink colour is exquisite on you, yes, sometimes the label is too big for the product's own good. I have only tried Dior's mascara and lip gloss. I liked the ADDICT gloss, but the mascara I didn't buy again. Wishing you a great werkend dear! xx

  18. Hi Kim love! What a GREAT review of the Dior cosmetics ... guess you just never really know until you try and you can't sample things like the lipstick where it counts in the store (ooh yuck) so posts like this are a huge money-saver for those thinking of trying something expensive ... thanks. (you always look just too cute, btw, despite the not-so-favorite-lipstick you were posting about!) I've been so incredibly busy lately, have you? Hope you have a wonderful weekend, friend! xoxo ~S

  25. Hi Darling Kim,

Pretty in Pink YOU! Love your product review for Dior. With all my Fashion Week madness its nice to catch up a bit to read it. I'm usually a red lip gal but as of late I'm warming up to a more subdued lip. This is sweet for spring, want to try it out. :)

  27. The nail polish looks so beautiful on you, and I am actually considering buying it as the colour is so pretty! I think that the blush actually looked extremely natural on you in the photo, I wouldn't have even guessed that you were wearing makeup! But yeah, going off what you said about the price, maybe there are other cheaper brands that sell blushes that produce similar results.

And I can see why the blush and nail polish were your favorite products! They would have been mine too if I ever bought the collection:DD

  28. Sorry to hear it was only bittersweet, it looks so pretty. The nail polish is gorgeous. I love the color of the dark pink eyeshadow but I agree with you it's so hard to pull off, at least for me anyway. The products do look great on you though and you definitely look ready for spring/summer.

  29. Such pretty variations of pink here, but I can understand your review with respect, as it is fairy pricy and you would def. expect high quality!

  30. hahaha @ "it either looked like I was going to an 80's party or I had pink eye" - hilarious. Yeah pink eyeshadow is usually a no-no for me, unless its very subtle. I find that it does the same thing, Too bad about this collection, the lip colour does look nice on you though!

  32. Hello Kim, I like as you have written this article, the sincerity in your words is noted, thanks by orienting us about the products of certain marks, therefore some prices are exorbitant and is unjust to pay so much by something that like your say can have similar results if used a mark but accessible. Kisses!
