I like to look past the clothes & person when evaluating a photoshoot. Kapoor's backdrop was breathtaking. Vogue India filmed this shoot at the Taj Falaknuma Palace in Hyderbad, India. Built in 1884, this palace boasts 220 rooms, a dining room that seats 100, jade collection, library, billiards, state room, Venetian chandeliers, marble and exquisite artwork. In 2000, it was renovated and turned into a hotel. YES! You can stay there! It received very high ratings on TripAdvisor. For 35,000 Indian rupee's ($637/night) you can stay in the Royal Suite. For 75,000 Indian rupee's ($1365/night) you can stay in the Grand Royal Suite. Ok...I always think BIG! I think the least expensive room is $330+ a night. But hey! You're staying in a palace. That would ROCK!!!

Vogue India: Kareena Kapoor + Taj Falaknuma Palace
Kareena Kapoor Khan posed for the 2013 February edition of Vogue India. I really didn't know much about her, so I decided to look her up. She's a very popular Indian actress, that has appeared in a number of Bollywood films. Kapoor is also a stage actress, has done humanitarian work, launched her own clothing line and has co-authored three books. Her controversy seems to stem from her recent marriage to actor Saif Ali Khan and her outspoken assertiveness. I want to know, how does speaking your mind and marrying a once divorced man account for "controversy"? HaHaHa Will some of my India readers chime in on this pairing.Click HERE to read the article (click thumbnails).

Well...if you've got the money, why not? Haha, although that is super expensive. Still, love the fact that you'd be saying "Yeah, I stayed the night in a palace." Haha bragging rights there!
ReplyDeleteLove this gorgeous shoot, the location is definitely stunning :)
Trendy Teal
Ooh I want to stay there now! How gorgeous. And she is so beautiful. Thanks for sharing :)

Oh wow I'd love to say I spent the night in a palace! So expensive though, but I guess for a once in a lifetime opportunity it's worth it! :)
ReplyDeletebeautiful photo shoot :)
Away From The Blue
Now that beats camping every time ;-) Would love to spend a couple of nights there and explore all the rooms! The shoot is great, though it has a bit of a 90's feel to it - maybe that's just me.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for your lovely comment on my birthday post, I really appreciate your kind words :-)
Have a lovely week xo
Oh I love it how you did the research about the place! Imagine staying there - would definitely make you feel like a princess. :)
ReplyDeleteWonderful post!
Have a beautiful day, Kim!

Such stunning images - I really want to visit India but doubt I'll be staying here!
ReplyDeleteWhat an absolutely breathtaking spread! I've heard of Kareena before, and seen video clips of speaking her mind... to me, she seems just like a regular woman who says what she thinks but in a more conservative country, I suppose that could be shocking. Of course, that just makes me think she should speak her mind even more - if there aren't women in the public eye speaking their minds, we can't ever hope that the average woman in their countries will feel free to do the same...! Great post, Kim :)

Ahh what a gorgeous setting. I stayed in a redone fort in India and that was cool. I have mixed feelings about Kareena but liked this shoot and her brief intro.

Kim! Thank you for following me. Your blog is fun and feminine. It's fun! This post is off the charts GREAT!
ReplyDeleteWhat a stunning editorial! I'm loving the dramatic palatial backdrop! It's amazing that one can actually stay there. Sign me up lol :) I don't know why it still astounds me in this day and age that certain things are still considered scandalous in some cultures.
ReplyDeleteHappy Monday Kim!
Rowena @ rolala loves
I hadn't heard of her before but she's stunning! That is so neat that they turned the palace into a hotel...who wouldn't want to stay in a room there? :)

I've never heard of her, but I don't keep up to date on Bollywood. Very pretty.
ReplyDeleteGotta love the red and black combo. She looks stunning and glamorous, dont you wish we could wear these in real life?
ReplyDeleteHappy Monday Kim.
She looks beautiful and I love the photos!
ReplyDeleteI adore her hair !
ReplyDeleteI think i would feel a bit guilty - even if i had the money - to stay at such an expensive place!
reply to your comments: i'm so glad you understand me kim<3 the problem with me is I cry for EVERY movie. xD i literally cannot remember the last movie i DIDNT cry for! sometimes this is a bit humiliating haha.
ReplyDeletehave a great week also<3
Wow, gorgeous photos. I love all of the pops of red.
ReplyDeleteHahaha, Kim, i know what you mean! But Indian society is not as progressive as it is here! Marrying a divorced man, or even getting divorced is still a taboo there! It happens a lot in our generation, but the old school still is struggling to accept such things like divorce, gay and lesbianism, living together and similar.
ReplyDeleteBtw, India has an immensely rich cultural heritage. Such forts are abundant there, and if you really wanna live life king size and get a taste of royalty, I mean how exactly kings used to live, you should stay in one of those magnificent fort-hotels!

Oh my goodness, the hotel/palace looks amazing! Unfortunately it's a little out of my price range, but my budget could stretch to the least expensive room for a very special occasion! xx
ReplyDeleteAlmost Delightful

Red and black is such a beautiful color combo, isn't it? I love the photo with the top hat, the red trench and the black pants. I think I want to recreate it...I just need to find a palace for the background, lol.
ReplyDeleteKim! You make me smile and chuckle. Many have said, Oh la la today with my post. I just wanted to have the red speak for itself and I guess the tights are, too. hahahahaha
ReplyDeletewow that place is amazing!!! in dreams ahhh lol
ReplyDeleteI think I might have heard of her! But that's probably because I have Indian friends, lol. That money is worth it since it's a palace! Beautiful shoot!
ReplyDeleteShe is stunning! Hope you have a great week Kim:)

I have to be honest and say i am not a fan of Kareena, I've randomly seen her in a few movies on tv here and was unmoved by her (earlier) acting and haughty persona. That said, she has an amazing figure and really great style. Love the red dresses in this editorial.
ReplyDeletewhat a stunning spread and a stunning woman. If that is considered controversial, I can't imagine what the country thinks of our celebrities.
ReplyDeleteChic on the Cheap
Ooh, you're giving me wonderful inspiration for our next staycation lol :D

Great post Kim and I love how you show stars or actresses from other countries because while she's so popular in India I've never heard of her and love this shoot. She's beautiful and I usually shy away from Red and black together but these looks are stunning.

What fabulous photos! Black and red have my heart when it comes to a color palette for dressing...

Black and red always oozes with class.
ReplyDeleteI've not heard of her too but she is gorgeous. I would think there is nothing wrong with being outspoken and marrying a divorced man but your friend Juneli's comment helps explain a lot.
I would love to stay like a royalty at the suite too.
oh she is gorgeous! her hair is stunning and those cheekbones!!!

stunning photos and seems like a mystical place =)
ReplyDeleteBeautiful pictures and gorgeous clothes! Wish I could afford to stay in such a luxurious palace hehe
ReplyDeleteI'm a big fan of Vogue Spain but I've never read any other foreign edition, so it's nice to get a sneek preview of other countries' content. I think Vogue always does amazing photoshoots, no matter where!
Have a wonderful week, Kim!

she comes from a long line of kapoors who were all powerful actors.acting is in her blood you can say.she used to be quite snotty about it earlier but she is a very good actress.you can try watching "chameli" with subtitles....there was not that big a controversy about her marriage and i don't think she officially uses the khan surname.the fact is saif ali khan and she met for the 1st time on a set where her older sister karisma was working with saif.she was 10-14 and no it of course wasn't love at 1st sight.saif is 10 years older than her.and has 2 grown up kids and his 1st marriage was when he was pretty young to someone who was 10 years his senior...and in other news she has milky white skin..radiant even without make-up thanks to great genes(and a british grandmother i think).she created quite a stir after dropping to a size 0 having been criticized for her weight throughout her acting career.the 1st and only size 0 actress in india.but that was a few years back..phew..!!
ReplyDeleteSuch gorgeous photos...I wouldn't mind living there :))) xx
ReplyDeleteAh! Kareena. She's the queen of Bollywood or so they say. She is one of the top actresses and stuff! Saif and she were termed controversy because of his past relationships as well as the age difference between them.
ReplyDeleteShe is also known for bringing the size zero trend to the country.
:) That's probably what you'd want to know about her.
All that apart, the shoot looks stunning. I was flabbergasted when I flipped through Vogue.
