But back to Betsey! I received a PR invitation by email to attend (I felt so VIP! HaHaHa), but I couldn't get there because of an important prior commitment. I knowwwww! Booooo! Hisssss! I was pissed! I also missed Christian Louboutin at Saks Fifth Avenue last year (but ummm you had to buy a new pair to meet him...sooo, i didn't have THAT kind of extra money to spend. hahaha)!
But don't despair my sweet peeps! I located pictures and also a delightful video from the event that should inspire you. She walked in second lining with an umbrella and threw trinkets at the crowd (like a Mardi Gras parade in New Orleans). I love Betsey's LOVE for our city!!! I love Betsey's ENERGY! I love how she keeps moving FORWARD despite it all! I LOVE the pink tutus, cartwheels and splits! I love Betsey's ATTITUDE! She states in the video, "The way to have fun is to entertain yourself with your clothes...with your gadgets...and i like color... and little things to look at all the time." Betsey wants us to have FUN!

Is she doing the splits?! How cool, colourful and fun. She looks like a madly energetic person. Sorry you couldn't go, seems a real shame. I'm sure something else exciting will pop up in your email box soon :-) xo
ReplyDeleteIt looks like such a fun event, and look at her doing the splits, wow!
ReplyDeleteShame you missed it Kim - at least you got to enjoy the photos and video :)
Away From Blue
WOW she looks like a rainbow of fun - we don't have much of her stuff here in {minimalistic B&W} Scandinavia, but she sure looks like a gal who likes to have fin. Happy day sweets, would have been fun going, but these pictures makes it feel like you were there already :)

It looks like a really fun event! And how cool that you get invited to these sort of events - but agree with you, if you have to buy an expensive pair of shoes in return I would probably stay at home too!
ReplyDeleteI love fashion events. When I was in Antwerp a friend of mine was modelling for the end-of-the-year show of Antwerp school of design and she invited me to attend and it was really cool! I still have vivid memories of the edgy collections presented by the students and the cool vibe of the event :)
Have a wonderful day, Kim!
Me and a dear friend both adore Betsey! love how she breaks barriers in age defying clothes! What a sweet surprise to read this post. PS You are VIP in my books! Xx

What a shame you had to miss out on this event, Kim - and I know exactly how you feel, since I missed out on missing one of my favourite designers, J. Crew's Tom Mora, recently. But I'm so glad you decided to share some shots from the event with us, anyway. I've always thought that Betsey had the most fun personality and this just proves me right!

ReplyDeleteBetsey looking good! I love the new Betseylicious tshirt, especially with the pink tutus. I will try that! I see Brandon from the Betsey Johnson show there. Can you see Betsey's old telephone purse in the audience? A classic from the 90s, I believe. Viva la Betsey, and all the Betsey Johnson handbags in the world.
