Another reason I like Vogue India, is that they incorporate the accessories, taste, style and fashion of India women in every issue. You're probably saying, well Kim it is Vogue India. HaHaHa And you're right! However, many times there's an American on the cover of Vogue China or Vogue Russia. It always comes across a little odd to me. I'm an individual that likes to learn about different cultures and customs. So when there's a woman from India on the cover, or Asian on the cover, or Russian on the cover of a magazine it helps me to understand that individual and what makes her successful in her country. Before today, I knew nothing about Sonam Kapoor! Now I know she's an actress, former model, and highly praised for her fashion taste. Not only did I find out who Sonam Kapoor is, but it also introduced me to some designers I've never heard about before. Yes, I know McQueen, Versace, but I've never heard of Lourenco, Scervino and Arora. HaHaHa So see, blogging is learning! I love to see designs on models, but what I love about a photo shoot is that we get to see those designs on different nationalities and body types. That McQueen looks entirely different on Kapoor! Photo shoots can give you a different perspective.
Don't laugh at me! But let me tell you what else I learned. I'm very finicky about any PR offers I accept (I raised my prices and haven't accepted any in months because everyone wanted to be on my blog), but I get them all the time. The other day, I got one that talked about a camel toe pad. I was like WTH is that? Well ladies, if you look at the picture above (lavender). The model has camel toe (crotch) and Kapoor doesn't. HaHaHa It hit me like a ton of bricks! They must've given Kapoor a camel toe pad. I've NEVER heard of such a thing! I can be so green about some things! You guys have a great weekend.

I love Vogue India. The models have great body shape, and the colours are fabulous, as the country itself.
ReplyDeleteI have crazy offers for my blog too but not as funny, LOl.
Have a fabulous weekend, dear Kim.

She is so beautiful Kim! I love seeing women of color represented {looking forward to the day we don't even need to make that distinction} and how crazy is it that she wears each one of those outfits better than the model! She's totally on my radar now--thanks!

This is a really interesting post Kim and I totally agree, it's so refreshing to see magazines properly tailored to their target market! It's why I love Irish mags xo
ReplyDeleteShe's so stunning, love her look. And I prefer her covers to the others...beautiful!! Hahahaha...camel toe, that's hilarious!! I didn't know they had pads for that, hahahahaha. I can't believe an offer for it came to you, too funny!! I would have fell over laughing, hahaha! I love it. Happy Friday doll xxx
ReplyDeleteShe looks gorgeous and that first dress is one hell of a statement! I actually think she looks much better than the catwalk models because - whilst she's still very slim - she's not as sickly-skinny as them, but looks fresh and healthy. Beautiful. Have a wonderful weekend xo
ReplyDeleteYes, you must be selective with PR's, haha! As for the images, I love that red dress and especially the looks in white are stunning. She's gorgeous! Happy weekend Kim. /Madison
ReplyDeleteShe looks stunning.
ReplyDeleteI was all set to comment about how beautiful, striking and obviously accomplished Sonam Kapoor is... and then I read about the camel toe pad and all of those thoughts went right out the window, replaced by, "WHAT?!" The gimmicky products on the market will never cease to amaze me {for example, my husband's cousin - no joke - has become a millionaire by developing mens underwear that lift and separate} particularly because people obviously buy them! I always knew you had integrity, Kim, but knowing you passed on writing about the camel toe pad is a great reminder ;)
ReplyDeletexox,
Cee
She is beautiful and her skin flawless and an amazing body right - Love her:)
ReplyDeleteAnd the camel toe pad - ha ha - imagine being the person who invented that!! ;-)
Happy weekend,
Axx
She looks really fabulous, you're right about the girl on fire part. Haha! And that Alexander McQueen-dress is just gorgeous! I hope you're having a fabulous day!
ReplyDeleteShe really is gorgeous and I love everything she is wearing and the video , gorgeous post Kim .
ReplyDeleteMeghan Silva's Blog
Oh my gosh I am cracking up about the camel toe pad! Who knew they even made those things, ha ha! She is really beautiful, especially in that purple dress :) Heather
ReplyDeleteHahaha....camel toe pad....that's priceless:D
ReplyDeleteAnd I must say she looks so stunning in that red gown. I agree with what you wrote....a lot of Asian magazines always seem to have very Western-centric covers (ahem), and it boggles my mind too. It's great that Vogue India tries to actually cater to the target audience.
Sonam is gorgeous! Great pics and fashion inspirations, Kim. Have a fab weekend!!! xo T. http://tickledpinkwoman.blogspot.com
ReplyDeleteThe camel toe pad - they really do make something for every non existent problem don't they? haha! I'd say just get some better fitting clothes, but I'm cheeky like that ;)
ReplyDeleteLove love her photoshoot - and how you've displayed it next to the runway pics. She looks like a wonderful fun loving lady, complete contrast from the stiff catwalk models. It must be so tiring for models not being able to smile!
Also, your comment on my blog - if I had a chance to meet him I definitely would have gotten you Ricky Martin's autograph, haha! He didn't even sing, let down!

ReplyDeleteShe looks uber fantastic.
Also, she has a great build, and like you said: "I'm an individual that likes to learn about different cultures and customs"
(same here), and, "but what I love about a photo shoot is that we get to see those designs on different nationalities and body types." I know WHY this (diverse models) doesn't happen...and, then again I don't.
As slow as it seems we are getting to a little town called Diversity, we are at least going there!
Thank you for sharing this! So cool!
**Runs off to grab her own copy**
She looks really beautiful, especially in McQueen! Love that shot very much. Very romantic.
ReplyDeleteAs for the advertising offer. I have actually known about this thingie for several years. It was PR'ed in Russia back in 2009-2010 if not earlier. It certainly caused a lot of laughs. :)
And since I adore Aymeline, I just have to say that she doesn't actually have the CT moment in that outfit - the real CT is a bit different - just google a pic or two. :D
And Vogue just retouched everything - easily done.

lmao omg i like this vogue too!!! and good for rasing your prices hun! your blogs amazing! eww camel toe pads you shoulda excepted just for shits n giggles hahahaa
ReplyDeleteThese models are all amazing! Wow, camel toe pads, how weird!

Hi Kim
ReplyDeleteI could not agree more - blogging is learning!
You know, i like how you placed the runway photo and then the magazine.... i was actually surprised to see that some of the items look so much better on the magazine!
Kim, I love reading this post! Omg, didn't know what a camel toe pad is. Wow, it's true, we learn something new every day. Haha. I love the contrast of both dresses. Very nice. Sonam is gorgeous! I was obsessed with the Bollywood actor/actresses too. We had a Bollywood (Oscar night) here in Vancouver back in April and boy, the stars are SO BEAUTIFUL! Anyway, what are your plans this weekend? I'm watching Les Mis (broadway) tonight. Don't know what's it's about but they all said that it's good. Have a great weekend girlfriend!

I really love the combination of the international (mostly European) designers with Indian designers here. Sonam wears everything beautifully.

Thanks Kim for the education. No, I know what is was before you explained. I have daughters and they were recently in high school so I know a few things. Do you know "RT"? That one was news to me. hahahaha
ReplyDeleteThese fashion run-way and model comparisons are interesting in that the run-way models look ill or too flat chested. I don't understand that necessity?
Thank you for your HUGS from my Daddy/Grandma post. Every so often I just have to share my heart. :D
Oh my word, the camel toe! The horror! xD Hahahaha
ReplyDeleteTrendy Teal
sonam kapoor brought fashion to bollywood.period. it is because of her other actresses started paying attention to what they wear and they all hired stylists overnight almost. this girl is the "it-girl" of india. i have never seen her wearing anything in which she doesn't look good. she knows her style.
ReplyDeletehave you seen "slumdog millionaire"? the guy who played the game show host is her father. she was never a model, she refused to do so as she knew that would jeopardize her acting career. people here are really snooty and look down upon models who try their hand at acting.
I love Kapoor! So nice to see her on the cover of Vogue India. Another girl I really liked is ex MIss Malaysia Deborah Henry also appearing on Vogue India - they are both such stunners! And the camel toe thing is hilarious!

Isn't she just captivating! I love the video's too. You really get a sense of the personality of the models as well which is nice to see rather than just the 'in print' finished results.

Oh my! I had never even heard of camel toe pads!! -_- Would this be one of those "ignorance is bliss" situations? lol
ReplyDeleteAlso, I totally understand what you mean about the India Vogue ACTUALLY being from India! I don't get why the heck they would use an American model for Vogue China?? I used to work at Barnes & Noble and I remember running across the different Vogue covers. It never made sense to me. ;)
India vogue dresses so fabulous. Amazing outfit of sonam kapoor. It's truly amazing. Thanks for a nice post.
