The Kupcake Factory, New Orleans

I had a taste for cake last Monday, however the bakery I usually purchase sweets from was C-L-O-S-E-D! Waaaaagh! I didn't feel like baking a cake, so I pulled myself together and went to Plan B. The lesson for today is, always have a Plan B :) If I couldn't have cake (in my best Marie Antoinette voice), then I was going to have CUPCAKES! So I drove to this cute little place called The Kupcake Factory (Uptown location). They're locally owned with 4 locations and their specialty is gourmet cupcakes (specialty cakes upon order). I couldn't believe, I hadn't been here before. I flung the door open to the shop and my eyes began to do a happy dance, because this is what I saw!

The Kupcake Factory is Sweet!

Don't you just want EVERYTHING? I picked up a dozen assorted (don't worry, I had plenty of help eating them) and was going to rate each cupcake individually, but there was no need. ALL of the cupcakes were scrumptious! Each cupcake is HUGE! They're like 2 cupcakes in 1! Cut 1 cupcake in 4's and 2 people can eat it. The cupcakes were moist, fresh and topped with just the right amount of frosting. Every cupcake tasted exactly how it was described. Eat a wedding cake cupcake, it tastes like wedding cake. Eat a goin' bananas cupcake, it tastes like bananas. Eat a snozzberry...Ooops! No snozzberries...That's Willy Wonka & The Chocolate Factory >.< but they do have raspberries! I want to give a sweet shout out to the young lady that worked that day. It was my first time there and she explained all the flavors, hours & pricing. She was awesome. She knew her products! Also, thank you management for being OPEN on a Monday! You satisfied my sweet craving. For my readers & friends, here's a closer look at the cupcakes I purchased :) Happy Cupcake, I mean Monday!

  6. I am such a sucker for a cupcake shop, Kim - we actually had cupcakes at our wedding instead of cake, that's how much I love them! Needless to say, after reading through this delicious post, I'm having a serious cupcake craving. The chocolate chip looks so scrumptious - as do all of the others!

I had wonderful cupcakes in Melbourne at a blogger catchup with Cecylia (cecylia.com) and I've been curious to try some of the Brisbane cupcake stores since. Doubt anything could top the Melbourne lovelies though, haha.

  40. WOW these cupcakes look like perfection! I'm stuck studying for my college final and craving one of these cupcakes terribly now!

It looks like they use Swiss Meringue Buttercream, which is one of my favorites. It's so much light what I call fluffy icing. I have a recipe for strawberry cake and strawberry swiss meringue icing that is so light and yummy :)

  41. How fun to sample these Kim, makes me wish I'd been there too :) And if these were Plan B then that cake must be pretty darn good! I also like that you mentioned the sweet girl--it makes such a difference to have someone who really knows the product and is happy to explain it.

  51. Kim, you know from my blog that I'm a huge cupcake fan (as well as the macarons!) and I have tried so many including the famous ones like Magnolia Bakery. These look so pretty and there are some interesting flavours such as wedding cake which I woud love to try. I had a go at doing that swirly frosting but it's more difficult than it looks - definitely more practice needed. Great post!
