I kept waiting to ooh and ahh over a collection at Paris Fashion Week. Well, it finally came on Day 7. Both Giambattista Valli and Elie Saab presented gorgeous collections. I really loved the flower embellishments in Giambattista's collection and Elie Saab always showcases gorgeous dresses with the prettiest lace details. Day 8 was a little tricky. I didn't particularly care for Alexander McQueen's collection and only liked bits n pieces from Chanel & Valentino. The Valentino collection looked like a warmed-over repeat of D&G and I have a love-hate for Karl Lagerfeld. He either comes out with a collection I LOVE or LOATHE. Well this time it was the latter, except for a couple of pieces (shown below). His collection was all over the place. I think he's taken on too many projects and when that happens, something gives (like this collection haha). He's making too much money to come out with shit like that (wouldn't I be a great boss? i tell it like it is. when something's shit it's shit). I loved Paul & Joe and also the Shiatzy Chen collection. Fabulous use of color & prints. ONE more day left of Paris Fashion Week! I'll post Day 9 tomorrow and then on to new stuff :)

Thank you for introducing me to Shiatzy Chen! Her work is beautiful!
ReplyDeleteI see what you mean about Karl's direction! Those colours and combinations are a bit blergh! Ellie is stunning as always. Great to see little Aussie Collette D up there too, she does a stunning wedding gown as well and a while back they weren't outrageously priced. I always like to see the real people behind the designs. Great coverage, thank you Sweets. xx
ReplyDeleteValli is definitely my favourite.

Oh the Elie Saab and Collette Dilliagan collections are beautiful!
ReplyDeleteAgree with you about the Chanel collection looking a bit off though, not what I would have expected.
Away From The Blue
Saab is always a favourite, I would love love to have some of that collection!! The Chanel collection is terrible for me, it doesn't mesh or flow at all and I wouldn't wear a thing, haha!! Not sure what happened there, un-impressed!! Have a great day doll xx
ReplyDeleteI totally agree - Giambattista Valli and Elie Saab made such gorgeous pieces!
ReplyDeleteElie Saab does no wrong (seriously he just makes the most beautiful gowns with exquisite detailing!)

ReplyDeleteI love that pink line!
ReplyDeleteHi Kim! Agree with you, also about Valentino. I love so much the collection but it reminds me of D&G too, little weird. Btw, Elie Saab is my fav so far, one of the best at the PFW. I have a crush on this designer who always grace and elegance. Have a good day dear, kisses! xo
ReplyDeleteWhat's up with the Chanel model having to wear a bib? Looks like she's been for a meal of ribs, or a visit to the dentist. I liked Stella McCartney's designs the best. Stylish and wearable. Love the dark silver skirt with printed fabric. sparkle2day.com
ReplyDeleteI LOL's on that Karl Lagerfeld comment...you go, Kim! :D
ReplyDeleteMy fave is Elie Saab from the sets you featured. So amazeballz!
Hahaha, your commentary just cracks me up! Totally agree that some of those Chanel pieces are really strange. Sorry Karl!

Elie Saab was one of my favourites from Paris Fashion Week - it always is, I love the work they do with lace. As for Karl Lagerfeld, I'm pretty convinced he's a one-trick pony. I love Chanel but I don't love the work he does for them and I'm counting the days until he's finally replaced.

Valentino, Chanel, Giambattista Valli and Ellie Saab are one of my favourite designers. I admire their talent, creativity and work. Only if I have the fortune to spend on their collections.
ReplyDeleteEverything in the Elie Saab collection looks really wearable. So fun to read your take on the collections!
