The Golden Phoenix Cupcake

Let me introduce you to the world's most expensive EDIBLE cupcake! LOL I thought I had seen everything when Serendipity 3 introduced their Golden Opulence $1000 sundae years ago. Well now you can have a $1010 cupcake! It's called, The Golden Phoenix! It's only at Bloomsbury's, in The Dubai Mall, located in Abu Dhabi. From what I read, Bloomsbury's can also be found in London (Bea's of Bloomsbury). Has anyone eaten there? Has anyone done a post? Please leave a link if you have. Their cupcakes and sweets look beyond delicious. HaHaHa The ingredients for this cupcake are listed below. I think what I like most is the edible gold sprinkled on the luscious chocolate! Ohhhh, it looks so good! HaHaHa Is it just me or does anyone else get a kick out of looking at beautiful desserts or food? I wouldn't buy this, unless the money went to charity. It's so over the top. HaHaHa Can you imagine what an entire cake would cost? Take a moment and watch the video. I took snapshots from the video (photos: property of Bloomsbury's).

The Top 5 Most Expensive Ingredients:
Flour – Doves organic flour from the United Kingdom
Butter – Rachels organic butter from the United Kingdom
Chocolate – Premium Amedei Porcelena cocoa from Italy
Vanilla Beans – Gold Ugandan high quality vanilla beans
Edible Gold Sheet – 23 carat gold

Meet a blogger who is 24K Gold! Her name is Kizzy of The Dainty Dolls House.
She interviewed me and put together an exquisite post. You can read it HERE.

  2. Good Lord, that much for a freaking CUPCAKE?? I wouldn't eat it...I'd sell it lol
Anyway, watching the video on how they make it was pretty cool - and I won't lie, I'm kinda craving some frosting now...

  4. It looks pretty amazing and I like to get the best ingredients I can when I cook and bake, however, this is so ostentatious and ridiculous that it makes me slightly sick. To think that millions of people can't afford Christmas dinner or any dinner for that matter... Not your fault, obviously, but I really wonder what is going on in those people's heads...

  8. What are people thinking really when they come up with these things!!?!! It looks ever so beautiful and gorgeous. But, I'd feel all the guilt in the world to charge someone for this delight. Never been to the places before, but I doubt I could afford a napkin there, hahaha!! Amazing what you can do creatively, but what would impress me more is if they made this without such a price tag or gave the money to charity of some sort. Looks blooming good though, hahaha!! Ahh...you are welcome for the post my dear, much deserved!! Am just happy you liked it :))) xx

  9. Wow, talk about decadent! I wonder if anyone actually orders these uber extravagant treats. If I could, I probably wouldn't order it because I'd want to keep the gold!

  14. I wonder who will actually eat these sweets. Must be someone who has extra cash to spread. They are so neat looking Kim. I have never heard of such outrageous price tags for desserts...ouch.

  15. Wow. I want to eat that in a very undignified fashion.

  16. I heard about this a few months ago! I thought it was a little insane, like gold? Real gold? Hmmm...but if I had the money, why not?

I'd like to taste just how special a $1,010 cake can taste. For that price, my standard would be through the roof!

  17. Edible gold, huh; sounds a little suspicious to me! If you have indigestion after eating this, you can have a good idea why!

Even if I could afford an $1010 cupcake, it's just too gorgeous to eat!!

  18. Kim,

I love cupcakes they are my favorite dessert however I don't think I would pay that kind of money for my favorite dessert!!

    Happy Tuesday Kim!!

  19. As decadent and delicious this looks, I don't think spending this much on a cupcake can be justified when we have so many starving orphans here in Africa, it just doesn't seem right, what do you think Kim?

  25. Wow, it's so gorgeous I'm not sure I could eat it, it reminds me of something that would exist in The Hunger Games. I'm really curious how many of these they sell... I agree with you the only way I could purchase one of these is if the money went to charity.

  26. Wow. This cupcake is beyond stunning! Although I admit, I really don't understand the point of edible gold - it does look beautiful, but it's so expensive and it doesn't have any flavour. Just my two cents. I still love seeing beautiful desserts made with it :)

  33. Woah! That is expensive!!!! Oh my gosh, I don't think I'd ever splurge on something like that, I don't think I'd even be able to swallow something that expensive. But yeah, the ingredients used are definitely from the finest of all finest. The cupcake looks gorgeous and the plating is pretty!

  38. Dear Kim, first of all congrats for your interview over at Kizzy's. You both are wonder women to me :-) as far as the cupcake is concerned, considering it is your absolute favourite sweet treat, you would deserve this one, sprinkled with gold. It looks terrific, and if I close my eyes I can almost taste it. Much much sweetness to you

  39. Just catching up on your posts after a couple of days away in London. I must pop over to read your interview too. I remember seeing this cupcake advertised when I visited Bloomsbury's in Dubai. There are branches in Abu Dhabi too. The ones we enjoyed were just the usual cupcake price!! http://missbbobochic.blogspot.co.uk/2012/12/miss-b-lovesbloomsburys-cupcakesand.html I have since read that they donate 50% of the profit from each Golden Phoenix sold to charity, the World Food Programme. Apparently the donation from one cake is enough to feed 1850 children. Bea's of Bloomsbury, London is a different company, I believe, but they do amazing cakes too!

I know I'm really fortunate to have visited both places!!

  40. I read about the 1k sundae and thought it was really ridiculous to spend that sort of money on desserts. Now there is cupcakes? I must admit they look good though and I'm along the same line as you. If the money goes to charity, it's perfectly alright.

Thank you for sharing. I always like to equip myself with new knowledge.
