My good friend Leah's birthday is today. Happy Birthday Leah! Leah (non-blogger) always comes up with the best gifts (
here -the ritz,
here and
here). Here's a picture of
her when we hung out while I was in Cincinnati visiting my aunt. As I was putting Leah's gift together, I came across TWO really neat sites. Leah, loves The Wizard of Oz! So I thought it would be cool to do a Wizard of Oz theme for her birthday. I started looking for Wizard of Oz wrapping paper. Thought it would be easy, but it wasn't. Well, I came across a site called
Spoonflower (this is not sponsored)! They have an awesome selection of
Wizard Of Oz gift wrap. I chose the "yellow brick road" satin design. It's $15 (a roll) but it's spectacular! It was super thick, durable and pleated like butter! HaHaHa It feels different than your regular thick, best-of-the-best, wrapping paper. It's that good! Highly recommend it for specialty gifts, Spoonflower ships internationally and they have a plethora of unique designs to choose from. I never heard of Spoonflower before (they do gift wrap, decals, wallpaper and lots of other things). I wrapped all of her gifts with the yellow brick road wrapping paper, used jute twine (to mimic scarecrow straw) for the bows and took quotes from The Wizard Of Oz movie for each gift tag (the quotes are clues as to what is in each gift). I purchased her birthday card from the UK! I couldn't find a Wizard of Oz card here in the States with all of the characters and yellow brick road on it. So I logged onto eBay and POOF there was one on there! They even personalized it! How awesome is that!?! I figured she could frame it if she wanted to. Here's the
link if interested. They have so many cards that can be personalized. So I wanted to share those two things with you (I like sharing my neat finds). The winner of The Wizard of Oz DVD is below. Congratulations!!! Have a great weekend!
Isn't that wrapping paper nice? After wrapping her gifts, I wrote clues as to what was in each gift (sort of a "follow the yellow brick road game". For example, in the movie Dorothy says "Can you even dye my eyes to match my gown?" So the gift is a gift card to a popular full service hair & nail salon where she lives. For another gift I used the quote, "We get up at 12 and start to work at 1! Take an hour for LUNCH and then at 2 we're done." That gift is a gift card to a popular restaurant where she lives (she can have lunch or dinner there with a friend). So that gives you some examples of what I did. I'm being vague about the gifts, because she reads this blog HaHaHa (I told her not to read it today, but sometimes C-U-R-I-O-S-I-T-Y....LOL). Leah lives in a different state (Ohio) than I do, so I thought it would be fun if she had a series of gifts to open. I love doing THEME gifts! So much fun!

ReplyDeleteKim you are the sweetest best friend ever! Leah is so lucky. Woah that wrapping paper was expensive but I'm so glad it's durable. There's nothing worse than paper that rips while you're wrapping the present. I hope Leah has a wonderful birthday. With your presents, I'm sure she will.
