A Very Sweet Blog Turns Two

A Very Sweet Blog turns TWO today :) CHEERS for a New Year & Blog Birthday! I love my blog, the people I interact with and all the things I learn each day. After reflecting on some things, I've come up with three goals for my blog.

Goal #1: Balance
I want a balanced blog. Last year, I would do beauty reviews for five days, then talk about fashion for one day and then have five sponsored posts. That's not balanced to me. I'm limiting sponsored posts to two days a week. I love sponsored posts because you get free products, learn about new products and get extra money, but I don't want this to become a commercial blog. I plan on mixing up topics each week. You'll see a healthy mix of fashion, beauty, personal style etc. each week. I love variety and variety needs to appear every week.

Goal #2: New Only
We all have our favorite beauty products and fashion picks, but it's important not to get stuck on Chuck! My two main culprits are Philosophy and Charlotte Olympia. I talk about their products ALL the time! I still plan on talking about them, but I'm limiting myself. It's important to discover "NEW-to-me" things, so I plan on doing that in 2014.

Goal #3: Simplify
Over the next couple of days, you'll see some minor changes with my blog layout. I'll be deleting some things and moving things around. Nothing major or alarming. I just want a really simple blog, that's easy to navigate.
I'm also working on not typing so much in blog posts, but as you can see it's hard ;) HaHaHa
I would love to hear your thoughts. Do you evaluate your blog?

  1. Happy Birthday to your blog doll!! I hope it has many more years to come, I love coming here!! I think all your goals are perfect, it's the same things I try and work into my blog as well. Variety is great, it helps you as well not to go insane, haha. Or feel like your stuck in Ground Hogs day. I need to do that even more so than I already am. I look forward to seeing the blog layout changes as well. I like simple and eye catching blogs. All those ones with ads and pictures all over tend to distract me. Your's is fab already, I like the moving thing at the top. But, I look forward to seeing how it will look :))) You are doing a marvellous job though doll, you work harder than a lot of bloggers and I always appreciate that. I am learning to do my product posts better because of you, haha ;) I hope you have a marvellous New Year doll, you deserve it!!! Lots of love, happiness and fun for this new time Xxx

  17. Happy New Year Kim and Congratulations on another blog milestone! It is always enjoyable to stop in and see what's new and sweet here. I've learned with my blog that changing things around and some simplification can be helpful and positive. I've also had to at times scale back on the writing, its seems with so much on the internet folks have a small window of attention. So the first few seconds is crucial. Good luck in 2014 and Cheers darling!

  23. Congrats on your two year anniversary! I just had my 4 year and it doesn't seem like that long ago I started the blog! I do like to refresh every so often, I did take a class recently and removed much of the stuff on my sidebar that really didn't need to be there. Simple is best but I always thought your site was very lovely. Here is to a great 2014 for you!!

  28. Happy Blog Birthday and New Year Kim! Haha, a double whammy it seems. I love the goals you're setting for yourself. I'd like to expand my blog to encompass more than just outfit posts, but it's going to be tough balancing it all with school and work too...we'll see. I have a lot of personal goals that I'm going to be working towards though.
Looking forward to seeing more from you in 2014! :)

  33. First off Happy New Year and happy birthday to your blog!!

I agree on simplifying your blog that's something I also want to do on my blog too. Balance is key to everything. I can't wait to see the outcome I know it'll be great!

  34. Happy blogversary! I look forward to more posts from you. I do agree that we have to balance our blog sometimes. Selling your blog to just about every company can make you lose your authenticity and sincerity with blogging. Posts that are personal and from the heart are always the best (in my opinion).

    Happy New Year! :)

  45. Congratulations on reaching 2 years here at A Very Sweet Blog Kim! I love your blog, your dedication is amazing, and always reflecting and striving to improve is a definite key to success. Love your goals for this year. I also try to keep my word count down as I know many readers (including me) have a bit of a low attention span hehe, and if there's too much text, it will just be skimmed through. I do read every word of your posts though, as they are particularly entertaining. I like how you have already varied your posts to include book and movie reviews, there always seems to be something to capture my interest. I'm looking forward to seeing what you get up to this year :D. Have a wonderful 2014! sparkle2day.com
