The White Issue
Have you guys started shopping for Spring/Summer yet? Judging from the SS 2014 runways, white, black & white and neutrals will be very popular. I'm thinking of incorporating more neutrals and softer color palettes into my wardrobe. I remember when people avoided wearing white like the plague, for fear of looking bulky or large. White shoes were out of the question. Well all of that has changed. Today's designs are sleeker and more tailored. Fashion editorials, such as the one below have been showcasing all white looks. When changing to a neutral wardrobe, there should also be an adjustment to makeup. It should be soft as well. White nail polish is even hot right now. I think white nail polish looks great if you have short to medium length nails. It gets kind of scary with super long ones ;) Simplicity and minimalism is very chic. What are your thoughts? What do YOU plan on incorporating into your Spring/Summer wardrobe?

The problem I have with white is that I'm very clumsy and afraid I'll get grubby really quickly or spill coffee on myself!
ReplyDeleteI love all-white outfits on others, and in editorials. They are always beautiful, and fresh and sweet looking.
ReplyDeleteHowever, my pregnancy has just increased my clumsiness. I'm definitely not going to be rushing out to buy any more white than I already have in my wardrobe. it's a miracle I still own some and it hasn't been stained beyond repair, haha! :)

Absolutely love, love, love it! I generally like neutral colours (maybe with a splash of "in your face colour") and tend to wear a lot of them. Not sure I'd go ALL white, but an oversized white shirt with a pair of jeans is never wrong, right? ;-) Have a lovely day xo

I wear white all the time in summer, it's really my favourite colour haha - glad you are saying that it's going to be very fashionable :) And I haven't started shopping yet, after my exams are done I will!! I have tried white nailpolish but I didn't like it very much, but I will try again! xx

ReplyDeleteThere is no way I'm wearing write. The kids spill all over me, all the time. However, I also want to incorporate more neutrals into my wardrobe. Softer colors are very appealing. I can't wait to see what you get. These pictures are gorgeous though. Love the crop top in the first picture.

In South Africa, we are in the middle of the Summer and the colour I have incorporated the most is nude :) I love it! I plan on keeping it in my wardrobe for autumn/winter. But white is also a favourite!
ReplyDeleteI think the "bringing white back" is a great idea. It's very classy and as for me, I'll have to be a tad more proper. To avoid spaghetti on my outfit of course hehe.

Oh these are so pretty! I avoid a lot of white because I tend to get everything dirty, lol. I actually want to learn to sew so that I can make an outfit for Comic con this year, and all-white one. At least I will be in-style :)

I love white but I really haven't bought a lot of it beyond classic white shirts for the very reason you mentioned .. thinking black would be more figure flattering ... but i love white and now that you've made me think about it, I'm going to make a point to try some white pieces on this season! I can't wait to wear white. But right now, with all of these snow here, all I see is White. That's ok. It looks heavenly despite the freezing temperature.

Wow - you aren't kidding when you say it's all about white, black, white and neutral. I think white on white outfits are so crisp and clean although not always practical. But it's really fun to see all these looks and how they're so different even though they are all wearing basic white. :)

Earlier this year I had an urge to to buy everything in white ranging from furniture to clothes, Kim. My husband rolled his eyes. Looking at my clothes, I just dont have that many white. Glad I am finally on trend...haha. White is such beautiful, serene and clean color but such a pain to maintain its true white. That's probably why I dont have many clothes in that color.

i have always liked white .. all white kind of reminds me of this 70s actor Jeetendra, who was an icon back then. when i got my white nail polish i didn't even think i would use it, it was for a music video shoot for which i styled and did the make-up. i wasn't even aware of the trend. i didn't get to use it in the video and ended up trying it on my own and loved it!

Guilty as charged! I've ran away from white for years but slowly in the past 2 summer's have been embracing it, slowly. I think it looks terrific with a tan and some gold accessories. I definitely plan to go minimal. This past winter I've done a lot of black noir. Time to think of the opposite. :)

I tried wearing white once. I didn't know I stained it so badly (and obviously) with ketchup until I arrived home. Of course, I was mortified and traumatized. I don't wear white nowadays unless I'm really required too... lol.
