Style City: Let's Talk About YOUR Wardrobe
This fashion editorial, featuring model Chanel Iman posed a thought provoking question: "Want to travel the world? Start with your wardrobe." Interesting! It reminded me of another familiar saying, "Don't dress for the job you have! Dress for the job you want!". So I'm asking YOU! Do YOU evaluate your wardrobe? Does your wardrobe reflect who YOU are? Does your wardrobe, reflect the city (or country) you live in or another place? Does your wardrobe reflect where you want to be in life (realistically, no excessive dreaming lol) and lifestyle that you want to live? Does your wardrobe reflect the job you have now or the job you want? It's a lot to ponder, but I find it interesting. Excuse me while I go & evaluate my closet! I need to change some things! :)
Apparently I need to move to Hollywood or San Francisco, because I'd love to dress like that all the time! Haha, I love this editorial with her, she modeled beautifully and the styles for all the different cities were fabulous. Plus, great concept! Gotta dress for the city you want to go to :)

I love the London look! I am always reevaluating my wardrobe! Culling things, thinking about different ways to wear things, buying a couple of new things. It's hard work!!!! Lol! Cute post, Sweet Kim. Xx
ReplyDeleteDefinitely food for thought! I would love to be in San Francisco, and I dont mind the look either, so effortless chic.
ReplyDeleteYou raise so many interesting questions!
ReplyDeleteI think my wardrobe is a lot more casual than my lifestyle is now, the bulk of my clothes are casual weekends wear rather than office wear. But it's just so hard to downsize, haha!
Away From Blue
Nice story and topic. I think mine definitely reflects who I am and how I feel, the destination comes next. On the other hand, the way I feel does depend on the destination… :) Complicated, I know… :D
ReplyDeletex
These are gorgeous!! I do think the place you live in, sometimes reflects the way you dress. There is a 'dress code' kind of thing for each place. London is very quirky, very diverse, you can wear so much in London and people don't bat an eye. I love that, but it depends where you are there, if your in jeans and a tshirt, you can get certain looks, haha. Tourists from America tend to stick out quite a bit, haha. Paris is so chic and I love it! But, in these pictures, I have to say London is my favourite...adore that!! Super cool doll :)) xx
ReplyDeletereally cool editorial spread! those questions got me thinking.. I think the wardrobe I have now is a mixture of Tokyo and Californian style, and I try to change it every season :) Thanks for an inspirational post!

I agree this, Kim. Every city definitely has a certain look, and I think it's great to kinda dress like as if you're from there sometimes:) When I was younger, I've wanted to go to Paris so bad, but couldn't really afford at the time so I just wore a lot of blacks, berets and such....sigh....memories.....:) (When I got to Paris, I did realize how off I was)
ReplyDeleteAnyhoo, lovely editorial with Chanel btw:D
Oh lol, that is a very nice and funny question! I think that is reflects well who I am but not the job I'd love to have! And I think I need some changes as well. The editorial is awesome, seeing at the images, I feel like "San Francisco" much more :) Kisses Kim! xo
ReplyDeleteFirst of all this model is a blast of sweetness and charm! Secondly, my wardrobe reflects who I am, but my daily wear reflects how depressed my job mostly gets me! Today I look like I had a dive in my closet blind eyed and with the lights off. Much love dear!

Amazing post,Love it.Chanel looks awesome in these pictures.Love your question. Sure my wardrobe has so much places to travel.I try as much as possible to rock different styles but i won't wear clothes that would reveal my bathroom secrets ''lol' Love keeping it cool.

i LOVE this editorial! i can't decide which one i love the most or which one is the most like my style! too fun!
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun post....and best thing to do in the new year too! I think my wardrobe is probably quite a bit like me...and have become more so over the years. Hope you are having a good week so far!

I can't say for sure but my wardrobe is mostly basic and than some addition to fit where I am at the specific moment!
ReplyDeleteWhat a cute photo shoot! I definitely have adapted style to my city. I wear shoes that are much more casual here and I wear a lot of dresses since it is so humid in SE Asia. But I love to layer in NYC and wear a variety of hats and darker colors!

That is so fun Kim. Dress and style according to your city. Does that mean I should incorporate Texas style more? And you incorporate more of Madri Gras style? :)
ReplyDeleteWhen I lived in NYC, it definitely upped my style game! I think some of the best dressed women are there!

My wardrobe definitely reflects who I am. I wear a lot of bright colours such as pink and reds as I am a bold and happy person. I do need more statement pieces that reflect my culture though.
ReplyDeleteGreat post by the way. Love it!!! Xxxx
ReplyDeleteHmmmm… these are good questions! I don't think my wardrobe reflect my current city, however I have picked up some cues from it. Because I have moved a lot in the past few years I think that is to be expected…
ReplyDeleteI do need a mini overhaul--- at least I feel one coming on soon :)
~Alexis Grace of North On Harper
My major city is San Francisco so I would say that I do dress like my city, based on that Chanel Iman look. But I kind of wish I dressed like the L.A. and Sydney looks because those are beautiful!
ReplyDeletesuch a great fashion shoot! wonderful post!

I think for my country, it's pretty easy as it's always hot and humid. So just dress anything Summer all year long! LOL! There's always issue when it comes to travelling to colder places.
ReplyDeleteOn the side, I love Chanel Iman. I think she's pretty.
I think I have a few gaps in my wardrobe...
ReplyDeleteI'm off to evaluate mine too! Great questions Kim x
ReplyDeletemy closet's a mess now :O watta shame .. but to answer your question I think my wardrobe reflects the perky, outgoing me :) I'm just not sure about my bags @_@ I only have a few and I realized I've been using just one for almost all my outfits @_@
ReplyDeleteThis is such an interesting topic you bright up Kim, I think my wardrobe does reflect how I want to dress, but living in a small place, taking certain fashion risks are often stared at, lol. Chanel looks beautiful.
ReplyDeleteWhen I was much younger I was obsessed with clothes and how they reflected my personality, and I guess I've grown my comfortable in life and don't feel the need, although I can never resist a good piece--usually shoes. I have also collected lots of great basics through the years so I don't have to think about it too much but this is such a thought provoking post because it made me stop and question myself for a moment! :)

Kim, what a cool post! I don't dress like London, but maybe I need to start ;) hehehe. This was a great read!
ReplyDeleteoh i love this campaign! and the outfit is so stunning and chic <3

This is such a fun editorial Kim! Chanel Iman is too cute. I think dress like a New Yorker even though I don't usually wear head to toe black.

Fun. I can't believe how much I love the Cali ones.
ReplyDeleteMy wardrobe could ALWAYS use more, but I think for now, it is who I am…which varies from day to day! That's the good thing about style, right?!
ReplyDeleteGreat post kim:) Think I need to go evaluate my own!

Very interesting topic from the publisher, I sometimes get relaxed clothes and sometimes I produce a little more: p white dress, top and striped skirt dots are my favorite

I love that black and white striped skirt!!

my wardrobe isn't quite who i am. i dress for our warm locale, but my style wants to be LA or London!
ReplyDeleteI often feel like I am buying clothes for the life I want rather than the life I have, but getting that life seems to require a bit more effort than just a wardrobe, I am finding.

Hey Kim, my favourites are Sydney and London!

Kim, this is a fun pictorial and your questions are super valid. I definitely find myself dressing differently when I travel, for a job interview depending on the culture, at events etc. Our clothes tell a story and send a message for sure. Love this post! It's a great conversation piece babe. XOXO

I love the Hollywood one! Living as close as I do to San Francisco, I can say they almost hit the mark spot on (if that was the point) - except the shoes would be black! SFians love and I mean LOVE denim and black together.
ReplyDeleteSuch a fun idea for an editorial campaign!
Love that editorial.=)
ReplyDeleteReally interesting questions! Unfortunately my style is more who I am and definitely not who I want to be ... Often I´m too lazy to dress up how I would love to.
ReplyDeletexx
Cool editorial. I think my wardrobe speaks of who I am and my style. A little both of everything to sum it up for me.

These pics are so chic and inspiring! My fave is the London one! I do try and take stock of what's in my closet--from time to time. Sometimes it's hard to be as objective as I need to be about what's in there, tho'. Hugs, Kim! T. http://tickledpinkwoman.blogspot.com
ReplyDeleteYes, I do plan and organize my wardrobe according to the Season. Like for sure, we can't wear white pants during Winter and Fall. This campaign is so original and fun.
ReplyDeletelol. Yes my wardrobe totally reflect who I am - as in no style whatsoever. But hey, at least I know myself :O)
ReplyDeleteI so agree that looking the part goes a long way towards looking and feeling like a success. Sorry you came looking at my blog when it wasn't updated for a fair while. I couldn't leave a message saying when I'd be back because I didn't know when or if it would happen. It will be tough to fit the blog in this year but I'm going to try. I've missed my blog buddies. Have a great weekend, hope you get to take it easy. P.S. Let us know how you get along with your new skin care :) sparkle2day.com

A cute editorial and a post which made me think about style In different cities. I know that style is influenced by climate too. Layers here at the moment! What we wear though certainly says something about our personality. I noticed in London last week there were (as usual) some people being very creative with their look. Fascinating! I need more colour in my wardrobe!
ReplyDeletehttp://missbbobochic.blogspot.co.uk
That is such a cool editorial!
ReplyDeleteI definitely could say that my wardrobe represents the place I work! (Well that could be because I am working at H&M & I have tons of clothes from H&M :D )

My closet is a little bit of everything! Unfortunately I have many clothes, but I never wear most of them.
ReplyDeleteOh i think i will have to move to London or NYC… great shots.
ReplyDeleteI am constantly evaluating my wardrobe, editing… and also buying.
So it's like an endless cycle :(
Haha, move to Paris or London, oh yes, please! :D Really interesting idea, Kim! I suppose my mood affect my clothing choices a lot, although I'm sure they're nowhere close to looking this good most of the time. :S
