Well, it's chilly again. So, I put away the iced tea and decided to make myself a cup of hot tea. HaHaHa This is
Ooh La La Brands, Brew La La Organic Strawberry Chocolate Tea (say that 3 times). I reviewed their
Pumpkin Pie Coffee &
S'mores Hot Chocolate last year and this tea was part of that order (see, I don't forget). I'll review their Chocolate Macaroon Coffee before Easter (I think. I break promises. I'm so bad.). Oh well, stay tuned. I'll get there eventually! This is not a sponsored post. I purchased everything with my money.
All products from the Ooh La La Brand (tea, coffee, etc.) come in really cute packaging. This tea comes in a strawberry pink tin with a hinged flip-top lid. I love the strawberry frosted cupcakes that appear on the front of the container and there are little pink teapots & cups scattered on all sides of the container. You'll definitely want to save it and use it again. You receive 50 string & tag teabags. They're divided into 2 (25 ct) freshly sealed silver packets (see picture below). So your tea definitely stays fresh. I placed this order in November of 2013 and everything is still fresh. FYI: These bags are not resealable. Keep your tea bags in the silver bags. Put the silver bags in the canister. You'll be fine.
The first thing you'll notice (rather your nose) when you open the container, is the awesome aroma. You definitely pick up a red berry scent. I didn't detect chocolate though. I would use a small teacup to drink this tea. The reason I say that, is because the tea bags are small (half the size of a regular tea bag). Too much water will overpower one tea bag. If you want a large mug of this, then use more tea bags (to strengthen). Follow the directions on the canister. Make sure your water is 100 degrees or hotter. Let it brew for 5-7 minutes.
For taste, I added 2 packets of sugar to mine. I tried it without, but preferred it with sugar. This tea has a very light taste. I picked up hints of berry, but I did not pick up chocolate. So, I added chocolate candies to it :) (for the picture of course). If you're looking for a STRONG strawberry & chocolate tea, this is not it. If you want something light, has a berry taste and will relax you, this is it. It tasted really good with sugar. However, I can only give it a Bittersweet rating, because of the missing chocolate taste and overall it's just not hearty enough for me. Onto their Chocolate Macaroon Coffee (I have a feeling their coffee is their specialty).
Sweet-Bittersweet-NotSweet
supersweet(run & buy it) sweet(really good,buy it) bittersweet(ok, issues)not sweet(not good,don't buy this stuff)
Brew La La Organic Strawberry Chocolate Tea is Bittersweet
these look so nice!!

Looks so nice, shame the chocolate flavour didn't come through!! So pretty as well. Happy Wednesday doll :) xx
ReplyDeleteThis is so cute! Where do you find all these cute (sweet-related) things? I have been looking for a tin just like that so I might have to go ahead and buy from them even though I don't drink tea or coffee. Hehe. ahhh lavya see ya soon x
ReplyDeleteWhen it comes to berry tea I prefer it strong but I have never tried any chocolate tea before ;)
ReplyDeletexx
Yummy I want one you got me hungry for chocolate.
ReplyDeletehttp://tifi11.blogspot.com
I agree. Strawberry Tea could taste bittersweet. Not a good combination for me. I have the Macarron Coffee. Enjoy them!
ReplyDeleteKim, I remember your previous reviews very well. What a shame the missing chocolate taste! When I read the flavor it soon inspired me a lot cause I am either a tea and chocolate lover :) Btw, u know that I always drink tea without sugar? Also coffe!:) Have a good day dear, many hugS! xo
ReplyDeleteoh god the chocolates look yum..wish the tea was good too.

ReplyDeleteOh shame it's not as tasty as the name sounds - although nice it's still got a hint of sweetness to it with the berry flavour! :)

I'm a HUGE tea lover so I definitely want to try this!! Looks amazing!

The combination sounds awesome Kim. Too bad the flavor is weak and the lack of chocolate is disappointing. I love tea too. I guess a winter decides to stick around longer. It is already end of March but still colder than usual. Yucky weathern
ReplyDeletehmm that sounded great, really good combination. too bad the taste is weak, I wouldn't mind too much about the bittersweet taste because tea itself tends to be slightly bitter. If you try the macaroon coffee let us know how it goes, that sounds bomb!!
ReplyDeleteThe Beauty Break
Aww it sounded like it had so much potential! Too bad it didn't work out too well. I'll have to send you some tea from this area!

what an interesting flavor! i'm more of a coffee person but i do love my teas :) i always stick to the jasmine/green tea flavors but i do love white peaches too. i should be more adventurous and try all kinds of flavors!
ReplyDeleteI am a coffee girl %100, but I have been trying teas lately. I think I would try this one, even though it doesn't have the chocolate taste, just because I love berry flavors so much! Great review Kim!
ReplyDeleteIt's a shame the chocolate flavor didn't come through cause strawberries and chocolate make such a winning combination. Well at least you can enjoy the berry flavor and the packaging is quite cute. I drink a strawberry green tea from Kusmi during the summer. It's so good iced!

What a shame this tea didn't live up to expectations, it sounded like it could have been absolutely delightful! It sure does look wonderful with those chocolates :)
ReplyDeletexox,

Bummer. You have made me very curious though. I want to try it. I wonder if a different brand would be better?
ReplyDeleteI'm one of those crazy people who does't like coffee or tea. The tin is super cute- reuse it for a flower vase!
ReplyDeletealways, koru kate
thanks for the heads-up! =) Good to know. I am usually pretty boring with teas...I opt for plain ol' green tea. Or chai! =D

Hey sweets, never heard of chocolate tea before - not sounding like anything I'd like though - probably prefer a hot choco instead. But the packaging is cute :)

Oh my goodness me, strawberry chocolate tea, really? Sounds amazing, pity about the flavor though, I still think it will be interesting to try. Thanks for stopping by hun :)
ReplyDeleteOoohhh I love the canister too. I've never really had tea before and I'm curious what would chocolate tea taste like. And those chocolates beside your tea makes me want to eat them... lol.
ReplyDelete(^^,)
Your chocolates look delicious. I really wish I loved tea (it has gotten cold here again too). I have tried it numerous times and in different flavors and just haven't found one I like yet.

I don't think I would purchase it.. I would want the chocolate taste to be stronger! Great review!
ReplyDeletewww.amemoryofus.blogspot.com
Hmm, I don't know that I really would want much chocolate flavor in my tea, but it's good to know because if you ordered it really wanting the chocolate flavor it would be pretty disappointing! The packaging is so cute though. :) Thanks for the great review, I can't wait to see what you think of their coffee!

ReplyDeleteThose chocolates look delicious Kim.
A shame the tea lacked a chocolatey taste.

I must admit, i wouldn't be tempted by the flavour - it's simply because I like my tea as nature intended :), but the packaging is something I would want to have and keep 100%. :)

I know it is so annoying. But it is a good excuse to drink a yummy tea like this! It sounds amazing.

Too bad it was a bit disappointing. Strawberry chocolate tea sounds amazing! Thinking I should look around for that flavor but in a different brand.
ReplyDeleteHa! It has turned cold here again too, so hot tea is definitely a great idea. As I'm always looking for new and exciting ones, this looks great! Also like the tins :-)
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for all your lovely comments. I'm so sorry to hear about your uncle, my thought are with you and I hope it will somehow turn out ok in the end…
Lots of love and hugs xo
Strawberry and chocolate! Wow seems so good!
ReplyDeleteLove the
Initially I was excited about chocolate flavored tea and then the more I thought about it, the more I thought, mmmm maybe not for me - glad to see I'm not missing out on too much ;)
ReplyDeleteLove this post, those chocolates around the tea cup have made me hungry Kim! Normally I'm not a fan of berry or fruit in my tea or chocolate, but I just had the most amazing dark chocolate with dried cherries recently and now I'm a convert but probably will stick to green or black tea.

Too bad this tea disappointed! I am a chocoholic, so I'd have definitely found the lack of chocolate in the chocolate strawberry tea to be bittersweet. Those chocolates sure do look yummy, though... Big hugs, T. http://tickledpinkwoman.blogspot.com
ReplyDeleteWhat cute packaging - too bad the tea wasn't the best.
ReplyDeleteI LOVE THAT CHOCOLATE TEA EXISTS!

The tin box is really pretty. It's a pity the flavours didn't show too much but at least it tasted nice.
ReplyDeleteI really like sampling teas and I once bought a chocolate & mint tea but I have to say that I wasn't too keen on the flavour and I think I will stay clear of chocolate flavoured teas. Not my favourite flavour combo hehe
It looks so pretty, I adore the tin can. We used a lot of organic food/stuff around the house so this is in my alley. Thanks Kim for sharing.

Is it a rubios tea? Usually manufactures will use rubios to enhance, or give a "chocolate" flavor. You didn't mention it, so I'm guessing it's a black tea? Either way, it sounds charming, but too bad it wasn't able to fully deliver.
ReplyDeleteThe packaging is really cute, but I like my teas in huge tasty cups. I remember well your previous reviews, waiting for the next one!
