I received The SFP LookBook: Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Spring 2014 Collections to review.
Have you cleaned out your closet for Spring? I completed mine several weeks ago. What challenges me the most (after a closet clean-out), is making OLD outfits NEW again. I'm always asking myself, how can I breathe NEW life into an outfit? How can I SPICE it up? My friends at Schiffer Fashion Press came to my rescue, by sending me a copy of their Spring 2014 Mercedes-Benz New York Fashion Week Look Book ($45 USD). The SFP Look Book gave me NEW fashion & styling inspiration! I blogged about NYFW (Spring 2014), but I seemed to have missed some things! An important one...MIXING COLORS! I'm a neutral girl at heart. The majority of my closet is black, white, beige and brown. I have specks of color here & there, but for the most part I keep things neutral. As I was flipping through this look book, designers such as Donna Karan mixed ORANGE & BROWN, Jenny Packham mixed LIME & BLUE, and Lela Rose mixed BLUE & ORANGE. I've also seen a lot of ORANGE, WHITE & TURQUOISE around the blogosphere lately. I would've never thought to mix those colors. Also, basic colors such as NAVY, were paired with BROWN and BROWN with WHITE (Michael Kors). So that puts a nice spin & twist on neutrals! I looked in my closet to see what I could do! I'm pairing my Emma Go sparkly sandals (w/hints of blue & silver), with an orange maxi skirt, white top, wicker handbag and my Dior Summer Mix Collection. I'm not bold enough to wear a turquoise top with that orange skirt, but maybe some small turquoise jewelry (necklace, earrings, belt) would pair well with it for a separate outfit. Are there any COLOR COMBINATIONS you plan on trying out this Spring/Summer? Will you stick with NEUTRALS? I would like to thank SFP for sending me this book. I previously reviewed Fall/Winter 2013 Look Book and loved it. I hope they continue sending me copies of their latest editions, because they're excellent references that help me with styling. Plus Fashion Week moves so quickly, it's hard keeping up with everything. With this book, you have everything at your fingertips.
