Cargo Cosmetics: Suited To A Tea Tin Kit Review

A cute tin covered in sweets, teacups and filled with makeup!?! Yes, please!!! That is what attracted me to the Cargo Cosmetics 'Suited To A Tea Kit' ($38 Nordstrom & Cargo Cosmetics and currently on sale at Ulta for $29) and of course the lovely illustrations. Cargo Cosmetics is a Canadian makeup brand that was founded in 1996. I've never tried their makeup. So how did this kit fare? Mmm, it was bittersweet for me. Some things were good and some not so much.

The quality of their makeup (at least what I tried in THIS tin) is on the same level as SOME drugstore makeup. I LIKED the lipstick in Santa Fe. It was moisturizing and a great everyday color. I LIKED the Texas lash mascara. The bristles on the brush were soft and did a fabulous job making my lashes fuller. The eyeliner in Pfeiffer Beach was OK. I had to go over the lines a couple of times to achieve the look below. Where things got WEAK was with the blush and eyeshadow. The blush gives off this shine & iridescent look that sits atop your cheeks. It doesn't blend in well with the rest of your makeup. The eyeshadow is a little chalky. Overall, I found the colors to be a little bland (dead). When I think of a tea party, I think of pinks, peaches (lively colors) etc. The only item with a little punch was the lipstick. Overall this kit didn't wow me. But at least I have a cool tin! HaHaHa  There's also an eyeshadow kit (sold separately; shown above). One day Ulta or Sephora gave (the eyeshadow kit sold separately) away for FREE, if you spent so much (that is NEVER a good sign LOL) I was so un-amused about this kit, that I've sat on this review for TWO MONTHS. The other day I said, "oh well, let me post it". >.<

Here's my look, using the kit! Do you see what I mean? I could achieve the same look and better with drugstore makeup. I guess I can't complain about the price, because I DO get 5 products and a cute tin for $38. I think it's the QUALITY I'm displeased with. Maybe it's the COLORS that don't suit me? Should I stop bitchin'? What are your thoughts? LOL
