Christian Louboutin Rouge Louboutin Nail Lacquer Review

Oh, WHERE do I start!?! The packaging for Christian Louboutin's Rouge Louboutin Nail Lacquer ($50 USD) will have you singing Naughty Girl by Beyonce (I'm feeling SEXY), but the nail lacquer will have both YOU and your pocketbook seeing RED! HaHaHa Let me say this! YOU REALLY DO NOT NEED this polish, unless you're a collector of unique beauty packaging (my hobby) or own a collection of Christian Louboutin heels that are prominently displayed in your closet. This red nail lacquer is not worth $50. It's a pretty, one-coat, glossy & shiny red, that mimics the red on the bottom of his famous heels, but you can find other nail lacquers that can do the same (and better). The wear time for Rouge Louboutin before chipping is about 4 days.

I'm about to ripppp Christian Louboutin a new one and I hate to, because I love him to pieces (but everyone that knows me, KNOWS I don't kiss ass no matter who you are)! I believe in tough LOVE! Go out and buy yourself a bottle of Sinful Colors Go Go Girl red polish ($1.98 regular price and .99 on sale) Oh no you didn't Kim!!! Oh YES I did!!! You will thank me and I just saved you over $48 + shipping + tax! See my gif below!!! The only thing you'll have to do is use 2 coats of Go Go Girl! Not a thrifty??? Ok. Purchase Butter London's Come To Bed Red ($15). It's even better and has a sexy name! LOL

{answer: sinful colors go go girl is the top nail (gif) // rouge louboutin is the botton nail (gif)}

The packaging for Rouge Louboutin is true Christian Louboutin! Sexy...Erotic...Thrilling...A Puzzle...Deep! The nail polish handle mimics his popular stiletto heel in appearance, which cannot be removed while applying the polish. I thought it would be difficult applying the polish or heavy, but it really wasn't. You'll want to hold the handle by it's lower base to apply the polish. The handle reminds me of two things: 1. A Fine Art Painting Brush (and your nails are the canvas!)- when it's in your hand, you feel like you're about to paint a masterpiece painting (only you're painting your nails) 2. A Feather Ink Pen That You Dip In A Glass Bottle Of Ink (but your dipping into nail lacquer) - you know the one's that were used to write all important documents in history such as The United States Constitution etc. (again you're painting your nails).

I'm all for ambiance, allure and seduction, but when the FINAL result is just average nails, all the ambiance goes to shit! LOL It has a gorgeous ruby red and black gemstone base, but that's about it. It's not even scented! So if you want that luxe feel and experience every time you paint your nails...buy it! But don't expect angels to come down and sing hallelujah once you're done! ONE bottle is enough for me and my wallet! Unless Louboutin wants to come out with a nail lacquer that's topped with icing and cake or collaborates with Laduree and has an eclair as the base, he won't be seeing any more of my money. I mean, there's no Swarovski crystals or anything! LOL This could've been BIG! Whoever marketed this, c'mon! I don't have a marketing degree (just a science girl), but I would've added a stiletto lipstick to go along with this or something! They may have gotten everyone to buy it the first time around, but they won't be getting repeat buyers. I like this, but I don't love it. If you see any company come out with sweet theme pastry designed nail lacquer bottles, they stole the idea from me! You heard it here first my friends! HaHaHa Those are my rants thoughts :) Tell me yours! Happy Hump Day And All That Jazz! :P

  3. Oh such a shame that the polish is no good - for that price you really would want something more special than just the bottle! At least you can still enjoy the unique bottle design I guess :)

  4. Ahah Kim, you made me laugh out load! First of all, I was super curious to see how actually these nail polishes are and what a disappointment! The packaging is very cool but despite it I wouldnt buy at home, rather I want to search the sinful colors one, I remember it from your previous post and is the shade of red I love most. Thumbs down for mister Louboutin this time! xo

  6. Ok, thanks for sharing! I wouldn't give $50 for a nail lacquer and I see that there's no point haha. The packaging is sexy, it's original indeed but as you said: only if you are a collector of unique beauty packaging. I am not.

  7. hmm have to agree with you re: the crazy price of these....and yes the colour is a very signature red but also very dupable (as you have found already with the sinful colours option)

ppl buying this will def be buying b/c outs loubutin which isn't a bad thing! but you're right...probably not a lot of repeat customers since the price is so redic!

  8. I trust your reviews because I know you don't kiss even red soled axes.
Honestly I expected this to be a publicity stunt, but one can be wrong. I can't believe you paid 50 bucks for this, just saying, not judging. The Butter London lacquer looks exactly the same. Have you ever reviewed Zoya nail polishes? I've heard that the brand was created by a nail artist who became allergic to the components of nail polish and so she launched this dermo friendly label of varnishes lasting up to 10 days...

  10. I felt a touch of excitement when I first heard the news about this polish, but the feeling quickly died off... :) I like it, I think the bottle is rather beautiful, but as you say one would either buy it to collect or for the love or addiction to all things Louboutins... Since I am neither I just passed on it. :) :) :)

  11. Bittersweet! Wow! The packaging is gorg but for that amount I will stick with my OPI...Thanks for your awesome reviews.

  12. It really is a gorgeous red, but I'm so glad you wrote your review. I would probably have purchased it for the packaging, but now know the polish itself isn't all that great!

  13. The color is quite beautiful and the packaging is unique for sure but seriously no nail lacquer is worth $50. Thanks for sharing your thoughts on this one Kim!

  14. The packaging is so different and the shade is lovely too! But the price would just be too much for a nail lacquer.

    Have a lovely day Kim!

  15. What an entertaining review with so many hilarious observations. As always I like your honesty! I have read about this and I must admit I was attracted to the bottle and the stiletto style top but the polish also needs to be special. One of my priorities for nail polish is it's lasting power and I expect a good one to last more than four days! Great post Kim.

  16. That bottle is killer! Too bad the color and quality of the polish doesn't match up to the price.

    ReplyDelete
  17. Yikes, talk about expensive polish.
Too bad the quality/long lasting did no live up to the name or the price tag. I hate it when that happens.

  18. That is a gorgeous shade of red of polish! Too bad it was just average since it was so expensive! That's why I like your reviews Kim, you're very honest!

  20. That's a gorgeous red. The packaging as an ink bottle is so clever. I will check them out over here.

  21. thanks for your honest review. I thought the packaging was so alluring too, but when I saw the price, I thought of other things that I could be buying with that money :)

  22. I do own a pair of Louboutins and I do love that shade of red... and the unique packaging does make this polish extra tempting. But the price just blows me away! No matter how much I love the colour, I will go for the $2 option every time. Thanks for the tip, Kim!

  23. Great honest review Kim as always. I think these polishes are a total gimmick but I don't like Louboutin anyway - not since I heard his comments about comfort being ridiculous. His shoes can actually harm women's feet and I think it's negligent of designers not to factor in comfort and wearability. But I'm a lone voice it seems - everyone loves him and his ridiculously uncomfortable shoes!

  24. what an awesome case, but wow expensive!!

  26. I have definitely come to realize that most nail polish formulas are pretty similar, and I think $8 for my essie is a splurge! I can't believe this was $50!

  27. such a lovely and honest review- that is also really entertaining and well written!

I do agree with you- the packaging is sexy no doubt about it..... but 50 dollars? Unless it is going to make my nails magically strong and perfect right away, I wouldn't paid that much for a nail-polish.

  29. Such a beautiful colour but it is a little bit pricey - there's so many wonderful brands out there at the moment which are cheaper and still have good quality nail polishes! :)

  30. Thanks for the review... I obviously want my nails to be this color BUT if it doesn't last, then it isn't worth it to me!

    ReplyDelete
  31. Hahaha this review had me hysterically laughing... it all proves that it boils down to 1 thing: marketing ploys! I mean, you have to hand it to the man for his beautiful packaging, but $50 for a nail polish is just bananas.

  32. Cool packaging, but I just couldn't bring myself to spend $50 for nail polish. I would try the Butter London or the Sinful Colors. Thanks for the review.

  33. Those nails are really sexy, your review made me laugh all throughout. I wouldn't spend money on a pricey nail polish, I'll probably just save up that amount to buy myself a pair of loubouts! <3

  34. It looks really beautiful and I adore red nails. Love the packaging. But I cannot believe the price. I don't think I could justify that especially since it looks the same as the sinful colours version to me.

  35. Hi Kim, I love how honest and real you are! I saw this nail polish in the New York Times article today and you are always ahead of the game! You know what is popular! I would not pay that much either for the bottle but it sure is a pretty bottle! Have a good night and weeekend!

  36. Great review! I love the packaging and the color but not the price. Yikes! With so many great, affordable brands out there it doesn't make sense to spend $50 on nail color.

  37. As always, I'm always glad to read your honest thoughts about the products you feature, and I always end reading with a smile. :) Too bad angels didn't come down and sing post nail painting. ;) Hugs, T. http://tickledpinkwoman.blogspot.com

  38. Kim!!! I've been wanting to read a review about this nail polish for so long! I saw the ads and some bloggers talking about it before it was available for purchase. I'm a sucker for nail polish (just because I don't like to spend much money in the salon) and I love buying the ones that are good quality and have beautiful colors to choose like OPI and Essie! Thank you so much for stopping me from buying this nail polish!!! I"m so glad I read your review :) the packaging looks fabulous though!

  39. $50 is outrageous for nail polish! I rather buy a Chanel polish. For $50, I'm surprised Louboutin didn't make it last longer or make it scented. They needed to make it luxurious somehow in order to get repeat buyers. The bottle is cool though.

  40. Honestly the price seems excessive, despite the bottle design is attractive, anyway not pay that much for a nail polish. Kisses.

  42. The packaging is awesome, I would buy it just for that, haha. But, I rather pay less and have the same or even better results, because you really are just paying for the name and nothing else. Shame though, most won't even think on it and buy as many as they can, haha. I do not care who's name is on it, if it doesn't work as great as the cheaper ones, I wouldn't buy it. Shame, the red is really gorgeous!! This was a super review doll, love your honesty on these products :)) Have a great weekend xx

  43. Whew, I'm gonna go with the sinful bottle! I can't imagine paying that much for nail polish, and if I do it better have crushed diamonds or singing unicorns inside! Hehe, I like your pastry bottle ideas. :)

  44. OMG! Your honestly is sooooo amazing, I was cracking up reading this! I Loved the review. This packaging is super cute, but holy hell! $50 is better spent on a dress, in my opinion.

  45. Oooh la la! That packaging IS sexxxxy! But I can't imagine spending $50 bucks on just 1 polish!! And I totally can't tell the difference between the Sinful color!

  46. Thanks for such a candid review. I suspected the same except that all the reviews I saw online were of praise. I still may get one to display with Louboutins in my walking closet but even for that I am still not sure...

  48. I was surprised you gave it a bittersweet Kim. The packaging is cute but now what I was expecting from CL. On your gif I couldn't even tell the difference in the two! Thank you for saving us some money girl!!

  49. I purchased this because of all the hoopla over it, and I am not impressed. I had my pedicure done with it, and it chipped after about 1 - 2 weeks. My pedicures NEVER chip with any other polish. I was really disappointed and you would think someone like this would want the best quality for his product. I see they have other colors but I won't be purchasing any more. I love Deborah Lippmann and many others and they are half or less of this price tag.
