The MAC Cinderella collection sold out really fast! Both on MAC and Macy's. I lucked up because my doctor was late (I had a really early appointment when the collection went live that morning), and so I purchased it online via my cell phone at the doctors office. HaHaHa Yes, I am a specialty makeup collector addict indeed ;). Below are my thoughts on the collection.
MAC Cinderella Stroke of Midnight Eyeshadow
This is my favorite item out of the collection. All of my readers know, I've been on a neutral makeup kick this year, so this was right up my alley. It contains 6 eyeshadows: vapour, phloof, omega, quarry, satin taupe and stroke of midnight. Their pigmentation and quality was really good. I'm really PROUD OF MYSELF, because I used ALL 6 EYESHADOWS for my look below. I get so scared when using eyeshadow. More than 2 and I buckle at the knees. I'm also proud that I created a VAMP/SMOKEY EYE look instead of going the easy route and making a sweet look.
MAC Mystery Princess Beauty Powder and Coupe D'Chic Iridescent Powder Pressed
Both are nice. They add a little sparkle to the skin. I use Mystery Princess as a highlighter and Coupe D'Chic all over. So you could see the difference, I put Mystery Princess on my nose and Coupe D'Chic on my cheeks in the pics below. They're both VERY SUBTLE.
MAC Glass Slipper & Happily Ever After Lipglass and Royal Ball Lipstick
Let's switch from a VAMP LOOK to a SWEET LOOK! No eye makeup for the lippy pics below. I'm so glad I purchased both of the lip glasses, because they really look great alone. PLUS, they smell like sweet candy. Glass Slipper is sheer with a tinge of pink. Happily Ever After is sheer with blue sparkles. The Royal Ball lipstick was a rather milky pink for my complexion (it looks different on everyone). Here it is alone, but with my smokey eye pics, I used the lip glasses over it. There was a lighter lipstick (Free As A Butterfly) and I'm so glad I didn't get it because it would've washed me completely out.
Overall, I'm very happy with my purchases and MY LOOK, but I can see where others are frustrated. I lucked up and the colors agreed with me, however MAC could've done SO MUCH more with this collection from packaging, to what happened to nail lacquers for this, to providing more color range especially for WOC (women of color). But it sold out, so I guess it was a success HaHaHa You can view my past MAC posts

Aren't just lucky you got to collect it! It was all sold out when I went online. Wonderful presentation!
ReplyDeleteLove that it worked out so that you could buy some peices from the collection Kim! I really like the eye makeup look you tried, it looks awesome on you! You should try a smokey eye more often! :)
ReplyDeleteI saw your comment on my blog that you have a cute little aquamarine bag you haven't really worn - you should wear it! I've included a link to when I've worn mine through the years so you can maybe get some inspiration :) I just wear it with anything and everything really, hehe! :)

Kim, the smokey look totally suits you! You should definitely do it more often:) And yay that your purchases rocked. I don't think I ever had a chance in getting this collection. MAC girls are cray cray when it comes to getting limited stuff! :D
ReplyDeleteI like these colours on you Kim - wonder if they'd sell the collection here :)

Great post Kim and at first I didn't realize these were MAC because I'm so used to their black and white packaging. I really like the shades and don't be afraid of 2+ eyeshadows hehe, because I think your eyes look stunning in this post and when it's natural and brown shades, I think always look stunning on all eye colors and it's not as dark as a true smoky eye. Great review!! I'll check them out when I'm back in SF this month. :)

Ahah, at the doct office?! Kim, you are my mith! The collection is dreamy, Im not wondered is already sold out, has been a success only for the cutest packaging! The eyeshadow palette would have been my first pick too, Im into neutrals for eyes too at the mo and you have made a gorgeous makeup look with it, what eyes!:) Hugs! xo
ReplyDeleteI love this collection and the packaging you look great with these shades.
ReplyDeleteYou did so well to get these and I really like those smoky eyes. All the colours in the palette are so wearable. Sometimes I find that in a palette there are one or two that I don't tend to use. Cute names for the products too.
ReplyDeleteLove your smokey eye look you created. The packaging is very pretty. It is sad that some of the products are not very pigmented though.
ReplyDeleteYou are rocking that smoky eye look Kim! It's great you were able to snag these items before they sold out.

At the Doctor's office ?! wow Kim.
ReplyDeleteThat and the fact that you used all 6 eyeshadows in one look, make my hero of the day!
Dear Kim, I was curious about this collection as I loved the packaging so much. I like you rocking a smoky eye! I think the lipsticks are in too delicate shades. Thank you for another useful review! Baci,

Hahaha! You are such a makeup addict, can't believe you managed to shop on your mobile! And yes, I am exactly like you, more than two eyeshadows and I will get anxiety attack. LOL!
ReplyDeleteYou already know what I feel about this collection, it just felt rushed and trying to milk every penny from the Cinderella movie, I find it ridiculous. :-/ Am really not a fan of this at all.
Hope you had a great weekend, Kim!

I must admit, I am such a fan of neutral eyeshadows as well Kim, because my eye are already dramatic, haha. I love your smoky eye version. The colour palettes look really lovely and of nice shades. <3

ReplyDeleteI love the neutral tones here.
ReplyDeleteHaha, I love such situations when something "bad" happens for a new good like the case with your doctor visit! Cinderella for MAC looks stunning! I would love to try these products too!

You look beautiful Kim!! You did an awesome job with the eyeahdows!!! I wish I could have picked up the shadow palette, the colors are beautiful. And those powders look super pretty too!! I do agree that they could have done better with this collection. The disney collections from sephora and elf even have such beautiful packaging, so they set my standards for disney makeup pretty high!
ReplyDeleteI'm obsessed with these... beautifull post! x Josune, Your Beauty Script

Love your Make up Kim :)
ReplyDeleteFantastic Collection!

Haha good thing he was late! I remember hearing about this collaboration and wondering how it would turn out. Definitely a success it seems what with it selling out!
ReplyDeleteLove your vampy look with the eyeshadow Kim. Haha, I'm the same way with experimenting, but I'm trying to get more creative with my makeup :)
The Dragonfruit Diaries
That was a quick purchase at the Doctor's office. I like the colour palette. It is neutral colours. Although I imagine Cinderella to be wearing more pastel and pretty colours like pinks, light blues for her make up. But very nice product line to promote the movie.
ReplyDeleteThese colours look so lovely on you. Interesting to read your thoughts, the princess association would be enough to convince me.
ReplyDeleteOh Kim! This is so pretty! I love the smokey eyes and pale pink lips look. I rarely see you in light colour lips. Gorgeous!

ReplyDeleteCinderella fever is here Kim! I like that MAC put out this collection but these tones might not work too well on me. I love a natural look but it takes a lot for me since I am so fair and if its too nude or bronzy it might wash me out. Glad it was a winner for you doll!

Too bad that the Cinderella collection had its issues, because you look fabulous in this colour palette. I wish you a great day, sweet Kim!

ReplyDeleteLovely swatches!
ReplyDeleteTo be honest I was curious about this collection as I love Cinderella from my childhood. I'm waiting for this lovely movie. The collection is really cute especially the packaging. I like the eye shadow palette from the collection because it has all natural shades in it and will be always wearable.I like the smoky eyes you have created with those shades. I think the rest products from this collection are just okay but I would love to buy the eye shadow palette whenever I got the chance. Thanks for sharing. Lot of hugs <3
ReplyDeleteThe packaging and the eyeshadows look great. It's too bad the colors are a bit too subtle. Thanks for the review!

I am sorry to hear that the review was bittersweet, but you still look lovely! I am in love with neutral eye shadows, but when I wear all black, I have been liking a nude lippy! I will have to check out the lip gloss :)
ReplyDeleteBummer this is bittersweet. But I guess that worked out for me since I decided to pass (despite my desire! haha)

i like the colors in the shadow palette. how many are shimmery? looks like maybe the bottom left and top right? not quite the packaging i'd expect for a cinderella theme.
ReplyDeleteI'm loving the eye palette! Lovely pics of you, Kim. T. http://tickledpinkwoman.blogspot.com
ReplyDeleteThanks for such an honest review! I love the way that you did your eye makeup :)

Honestly, I never buy MAC limited edition collaborations anymore. The quality is not the same. Your look is really good, but probably not worth the price.
ReplyDeleteYou're so cute and beautiful. Love the shade. :)

Gahh I'm soooo jealous, it's sold out everywhere!

I really like the eyeshadow pallet! Looks so good on you!
ReplyDeleteI was so bummed at how quickly they sold out! The packaging alone is absolutely gorgeous. Seeing how pretty it is on you makes me lust after it even more!
ReplyDeleteThis was such a pretty collection but I can see where it would have missed the mark for a lot of shoppers. Still, I love the look that you created with the eyeshadow palette - bold eye make-up really suits you!

I was worried about the color palette. I wish there were more options available! But the packaging is pretty (though I agree they could have done a bit more lol).
ReplyDeleteThose are too pretty!!!! And the packaging looks lovely!! <3
