Happy Sample Sunday! Today's sample is
Prada Candy, which was released in 2011. It's now 2015, and I'm just now sampling it. HaHaHa Why did I wait so long, despite loving the name? I've never been a huge fan of perfume. I see perfume counters and quickly turn the other way. I think it was all the strong perfumes I encountered on others when I was a child. It kind of turned me against perfume. I'm currently trying to change my thinking. I did find two perfumes I like: Wish by Lollia and Philosophy's Pure Grace. They're both very soft and agree with me. Well, getting to the sample of Prada Candy. It's nice, but I'm not doing back flips or anything. The top note is caramel. The middle is white musk. The base is vanilla & benzoin. This perfume is literally, very sweet. I like the scent, but the musk note throws me for a serious loop. I've never been much of a musk girl. Love it on guys, but not me. LOL I'm getting a sample of Prada's Candy Florale Parfum in my Nordstrom order. So I'll let you know my thoughts on it, when I receive it. What are your thoughts on Prada Candy? Do you like it? The winner of the Aveeno Soothing Bath Treatment is Jennifer R. Congratulations Jennifer, I've sent you an email. Pssst! I'm having a Too Faced Sugar Pop Eyeshadow Palette Giveaway on Instagram. Come join the fun!

I'm not super into perfumes either, but there are a few I like. I love getting the little sample vials though with beauty orders though because it is a great way to discover new scents that I might like.

ReplyDeleteI haven't smelt this one before but I think I'll have to give it a whiff soon! I prefer quite fresh scents and generally try to steer away from sweet but I think I'll have to smell it anyway! Hahah

Funny it sounds like it smells just as sweet as the name! :)
ReplyDeleteI used to wear perfume every day - until one point in pregnancy my everyday perfume made me gag...I'm still trying to gradually get used to the smell of it again, but most days I go without perfume now :(
Away From The Blue
Is okay Kim this is the first time I heard of it, so is never to late glad you are the one who is doing the review. I had not try it but will consider. Happy Sunday.
ReplyDeleteBack in the day, I used to be really into perfumes and would wear different ones everyday. Can't do that anymore coz the first time I had a kid, I remember him sneezing so much....sigh....
ReplyDeleteI don't mind heavy perfumes, but if I do like really unique scents so I might pass on this one then. TY for the review, Kim:)
Yes, I agree. I have never really been a fan of this perfume. It's too music for me as well and too sweet somehow.. but you took cute pictures! Love it!

Hahaha... I think we are similar in one way, Kim. I was put off by perfume when I was very young and so hated perfume. I thought perfumes only smelt a certain way. Think of those old fashion old ladies perfume of the 50s. It was only after I grew older that I realised there were sweet perfume, fruity perfume, floral perfume, fresh smelling perfume other than those foul smelling ones. I think I took a whiff at Prada Candy before and I didn't like the sweetness of it. I love fruity floral sweet but not candy sweet.

My hubz is a pig, he is. =D I'm so glad to hear that you're touched by the notes and items in the package. I had wanted to send you some of my favourite Asian childhood snacks too and I regretted not using a bigger box! I wanted to use that box that you have coz I thought that though it is recycled, the tin looks so happy and cheery as opposed to a carton box. I remember that you like stuff for their packaging and that you would keep nice tin boxes. After I prepared and wrapped your package, I saw you posted a package from your blog friend who sent you Asian snacks and how you love Asian snacks and I went "Damn. Why didn't I use a bigger box so that you could have the snacks too." =D

Thank you, Kim. My eyes are only beautiful when made up. Without make-up, they would be those stereotypical Asian Chinese eyes. =) I sort of expected you not to do tags coz I can imagine how many times you have been tagged. And no worries about not doing coz I know we have the same feelings about tags-- Love reading them to know more about one but don't really like doing them for ourselves.

I have smelt this perfume before and personally I think that they're so sweet for me. And I'm curious about this 2nd perfume from Prada, Candy Florale... :)

Kim, you just reminded me that I have a sample of this perfume which I haven't even tried yet. I actually have a whole cache of perfume samples stored inside a votive that are waiting to be tried but I'm too devoted to my regular scent haha. Hope you're enjoying a lovely weekend sweets!

Cute name. I like sweet perfumes, but not musky! Every few years I look for a new fragrance to wear to mix things up. This can be overwhelming since there are millions of them on the market!
ReplyDeleteI kind of liked it, but, I like sweetish scents (especially if there's a kick of earthy/patchouli mixed with it).
ReplyDeleteYour photos are so beautiful! So much colour - your blog is really wonderful and I'm always happy when I visit your blog - your writing style and the way you capture photos is great! :)

Love the pics Kim! I think Prada Candy is ok. It does smell sweet, but it's just not one of my favorites. Typically I love perfumes that are sweet, but this one just doesn't thrill me. I'm kind of picky about perfumes too. I won't wear anything that is primarily floral based lol.
ReplyDeleteLike you, Kim, I'm not big on perfume. Generally, I only wear Anais Anais. I will wear samples I get from time to time, though. T. http://tickledpinkwoman.blogspot.com
ReplyDeleteI'm with you, Kim - I'm on the fence about Prada Candy. I bought it once after liking it in the store but didn't like it as much once I had it at home. I think I still have some lying around unused, it's probably time to get rid of it!

I wish I could smell this lol!! Too bad you didn't like it! I don't like overly sweet perfumes. I'm kind of picky so I understand where your coming from. I do think philosophy has nice ones though so I'm glad you like grace!
ReplyDeletewow.. colorful.. i love it

The name is very interesting, but I'm not a perfume fan either. I love to spray it behind my ears before going to bed and when I'm going to church. You know, with friends hugging me and all:-)
ReplyDeleteSad that this perfume is bittersweet. I have prada candy L'eau. It is much more deeper and has a oriental vanilla scent which I love.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful pics.
ReplyDeleteAs much as I like the Prada brand, their perfumes are not on the top of my list.
Oh, that feeling from my childhood too... I know what you mean! Well, in this case I am not sure I'd like this perfume. I've never used it before, so I can't really say, but probably - no.

I can relate to you about perfume, I have a few bottles I've owned for years but barely spritz it on a couple times a month. I've never been a big fan of the perfume counters in malls either, too strong, but I'm glad you wrote about this Prada Candy and eventhough I don't think I'd like it much either with the musk, maybe I'll have to sample it next time! Thanks for the honest review :)

I also run away from perfume counters and samples. But Prada is an exception. It is the only perfume, surprisingly, I am not allergic to. I love Prada Iris perfume. The Candy one is delightful too.
ReplyDeleteI like perfume, but only the light and citrusy ones. I might pass on this one too, Kim! Have a great week!

I used to really love perfume but then somewhere along the line they became too heavy for me. Perhaps because I didn't know how to use them right and I sprayed too much and the scent just got too much. But I will always always love Flower by Kenzo. It's my favorite perfume :)
ReplyDeletei'm not a fan of musks either. i used to wear perfumes, then stopped for a long time and used body sprays. now i'm starting to wear perfumes again.
ReplyDeleteThis is one of my favorite perfumes, but I'm a fan of perfumes. If you don't like strong ones, then I could see how this may not be for you. I hope you have luck with the Florale one!
ReplyDeleteI absolutely love this perfume except it's not very persistent.its fragrance is my cup of tea!

I think I tried this..haha. I get stuck at the perfume counter all the time trying stuff, but I do believe I tried this and thought it was nice. But, I always go back and try things a few times before deciding for sure. I like the packaging though, so good :) xx
ReplyDeleteI usually use soft fragrances are very strong because when I get headaches, I like citrus, floral and even fruit. Too bad this was not to your liking, but how good it was just a sample!
