Aveeno Positively Radiant Skin Brightening Daily Scrub Review and Swatches

Happy Sample Sunday! One of the products I received in my Aveeno Welcome Parcel (February), was the Aveeno Positively Radiant Skin Brightening Daily Scrub. Well, I have good news and bad news. Let's start with the bad news. This didn't work for me. I have both dry and sensitive skin. I started getting nervous about this product when I saw the words daily, brightening and scrub. The reason why I felt that way, was because I had a very bad reaction with Shiseido's Brightening Cleanser. I still gave this a try, because on the back of the tube, it said "Gentle enough for everyday use and for sensitive skin." Well that didn't hold true for me. My very first use, resulted in dryness and redness, so I stopped. I can't recommend this product for anyone that has sensitive skin. Now, the good news! My mom, who has combination skin LOVES IT! She's been using it for a month now (not daily, but about 3 times a week) and she's half way through the tube (and plans on purchasing another one). Her skin is smoother, brighter and dark spots on her skin are fading. Isn't it amazing, how a product can work for one and not the other? This creamy cleanser has very fine microbeads that exfoliate. The scent is very clean, fresh and light. The product rinses away beautifully without leaving any trace or film. It also has moisture rich soy extract. I had great success with Aveeno's Positively Radiant Tone Corrector and Makeup Removing Wipes... you can read my reviews here and here. Have you tried anything from Aveeno's Positively Radiant Collection? Let me know in the comments below.  Oh, and the theme for this week is The Great Outdoors! Follow me on Periscope (A Very Sweet Blog), to get a preview of the products I'll be reviewing this week. I'm giving a short broadcast later today. Stop by and say HI! THE WINNER of the Aveeno Daily Moisturizing Sheer Hydration Lotion and Tissue Pak Giveaway is Lauren Jackson! Congratulations Lauren! I've sent you an email :) Enjoy the rest of your weekend everybody!

Wonderful your mum could not only use it, but get the benefits from the product as well! :)

  4. Nice review Kim! I have combo skin so I might like this. I'm skeptical about aveeno a face products since I don't like the positively radiant face lotion!

  7. your reviews are always honest! I guess for each one of us those kind of products react different on our skin as we all have different kinds of skins, but your opinion really matters to me, you are a beauty guru haha

  8. My skin is more on the oily side so this would probably be great for me!

  9. 'The Great Outdoors' is a great theme for the week, I'm looking forward to reading your future reviews in this series :) I have dry to combination skin, so I may steer clear of this product, it's great to hear it's worked well for your mum though! :)

  10. Kim, that brightening cleanser might work for me coz I have skin like your mom: oily t-zone but dry everywhere else. TY for this review. I've used the Positively Radiant line before and did like the products.
Hope you're having a fab Sunday!

  12. I also have sensitive skin and have to be careful with scrubs as well. I'd be afraid of my skin reacting like yours so thanks for the heads up Kim. It's awesome that your Mom has been able to use it and how well it's worked for her. It's great you have different skin types so she can use the products you can't ;)

  13. Sorry to hear about the bad reaction, Kim. I have not tried this line, yet...but would like to. I've been looking for an exfoliant. I'm guessing the facial scrub would be akin to this. T. http://tickledpinkwoman.blogspot.com

  14. Too bad it didn't work for you Kim. I'm glad to know that it worked well for your mother. I guess it will really depend on your skin type.

  15. Great review, Kim! I'm sure it will be perfect for my skin. I will check my local stores to see if I can find it.

  16. Super review Kim, am glad it works at least for another skin type. Sounds great, I have combination skin, although sometimes sensitive, so this could either work for me like it did for your mom or the other way around, haha!! Super review though!! Xx

  17. Wow. I have never come across a product that actually lived up to its promise to fade dark spots! And since I have combination skin, this may be the one for me. Thanks for the review, Kim!

  18. So glad to see a review of this. Personally, I don't like physical exfoliants, but my husband loves them. Since I'm the one that does most of the shopping, I'm the ones that buys the face scrubs for him. I think he'll like this one!

  19. I have the same concerns regarding anything brightening as well since my skin doesn't react well to it. Ever since then, I've avoided anything with the word brightening on it. Thanks for the honest review! Glad your mom was able to use it and had positive results :)

  20. That's too bad it didn't work on you, but at least your mom made use of it. Aveeno have so many products, it would be impossible that everything is suitable to anyone. Btw, I want to ask you, my Urban Decay Naked foundation became watery. Do you know why? Thanks pal!

  21. Thank you for the review, Kim! Sorry to hear it didn't work for you - it's always a bit frustrating when you really want to like (and use) a certain product and it doesn't deliver. I wonder if it's just a specific ingredient that disagreed with your skin - often the case of this sort of sensitivity. x

  22. I think the marketing of the Aveeno products was what really pulled me in to trying a cleanser of theirs a few years back. I did end up finishing the bottle, but I wasn't wowed by the cleanser. I sort of liked the smell at first, but then I started to really dislike it.

  23. Best of all, it worked very well with your mother, it was not a total loss.

  24. These review are so helpful to read Kim! I've only used a few Aveeno products, but your reviews help me decide which products I may or may not want to try!

  25. I had a terrible reaction a few weeks ago. My face was red and on fire.
I then realised that I had applied WAY too much product.
Luckily on your side it worked out for mom.

  26. Indeed! Some products do work well for some and not others! So glad it worked out for your mom!
