Bronzer. Whenever anyone said that word to me, I would go run...hide...and shiver! Because either I would look orange, orange & yellow, or like burnt toast >.< Well, another item I received from the Klout Benefit #Curlfriends Contest was Benefit's Hoola Bronzing Powder. Hoola has been around forever! I just never tried it. Well, here was my chance! So I took a deep breath and gave it a try. I LOVE IT! It's truly brown! Plus, it's BUILDABLE! You can go from light, to as dark as you want in a matter of swipes. Everything is housed in a cute little box, that fits in the palm of your hand. It houses the bronzer, brush and mirror. All have this Tiki, island, flower and bamboo theme. How does it look? Hoola your way down this post to see! Someone make me a tropical drink w/ umbrella please :)
The first picture is with just ONE swipe of Benefit's Hoola. The second picture is a LOT OF SWIPES! Sorry, I forgot to count (HaHaHa), but I wanted to show you how you can go from a little to a lot and still look natural. Remember! The darker you go, you must also swipe your neck etc. I think Hoola looks pretty natural. Tomorrow, I'm going to show you how it looks with Benefit's Sunbeam. So stay tuned! Below is the video I created, showing you application after just one swipe. I chose Jamaican music. Yeah Mon!
Bronzer scares me cause I have absolutely no idea what to do with it. This product seems like a good one to start with and it looks really natural and pretty on you Kim!
I received my care package in the mail today! Thanks again for choosing me to be one of your #Curlfriends and for sharing the love :)
I love love love Hoola! This is one Benefit product I've bought a few times:) You look great with it, esp. when you layered it a few times...tanned but still natural.
I've been looking on this bronzer for a long time now and planning to finally start using self tanners so this bronzer will be very good investment for me! Great review!
Kim, I'm terrified of bronzer. They make me look so tan. I haven't use one in a long time. Guess what? I forgot to give my foundation a little shake before applying it, that's why it was so watery. Haha, silly me!
I swear your blog has just become one huge wishlist for me hahah! So many products I've always wanted but still don't own yet. I'm really digging these outdoor pictures too for this series, they look so pretty :}
I've never tried bronzer myself--due to fear I'd be too heavy handed with it. Hearing your assessment, though, this is one I'd try. The packing is adorable and you look lovely, Kim! T. http://tickledpink@woman.blogspot.com
Oh, nice to know that this worth the hype, Kim. I've only very recently ventured into the bronzing/contouring territory so this will be on my list to buy soon.
I've always been skeptical of Benefit blushes... Not because I don't think they work. I've seen a lot of evidence that they do. But the cardboard packaging just seems so flimsy! Still, this bronzer does look fabulous on you, Kim. xox, Cee
The bronzer is beautiful on you. It really enhances your natural tone. Bronzers have always scared me because I'm super white with my Irish/Scottish blood. I've tried a couple but feel like it doesn't look right on me. :)
I shy away from bronzers (like you in the past) I always think of them making me look like I applied self tanning lotion in the worst way possible… Just this morning I tried one from Pupa, I am giving it another chance.
It's sun without the sun - so true! Haha! Loved your video, Kim! Great work! A lot of bronzer looks fab on you, my dear! Such a healthy sun-kissed teint! Beautiful!!! Excited about your Sunbeam review since it's such hyped product! ;)
Bronzer used to scare me too, but I've really been enjoying it lately. The tone of bronzer is very flattering and not too orange or muddy looking. It looks great on you! xoxo Lauren | Will Sing For Makeup
i've been wanting to try hoola for the longest time...and when i finally swatched it in sephora, it didn't even show up on my face...too light or something.
I've only tried a bronzer a couple of times, and each time I look orange, not just a little orange, but pumpkin orange, LOL! This looks like a promising product, and it looks great on you. I'll definitely keep this in mind and give bronzers a second chance.
I don't use bronzer very much. I'm not one for contouring (my cheekbones are dramatic enough for my tastes). However, I LOVE this stuff. I got a sample of it a few years ago, and still have it. I take a little bit of Hoola on a small stipple brush and pat it in the crease around my nostrils. It does a beautiful job of making my nose look smaller! I love it.
There are certainly a lot of details like that to take into consideration. That is a great point to bring up. I offer the thoughts above as general inspiration but clearly there are questions like the one you bring up where the most important thing will be working in honest good faith. I don?t know if best practices have emerged around things like that, but I am sure that your job is clearly identified as a fair game.
