PR Sample - Hey everybody! I received samples of
NYC (New York Colors) NEW Expert Last Lip Lacquer ($3.99). Liquid lipsticks are very popular right now and these promise intense rich color, long lasting & high coverage and a lightweight texture. So what are my thoughts? Read below.
Sweet-Bittersweet-NotSweet
supersweet(run & buy it) sweet(really good,buy it) bittersweet(ok, issues)not sweet(not good,don't buy this stuff)
NYC New York Color Expert Last Lip Lacquer in Chelsea Cherry Blossoms - Not Sweet
I've been through enough lipsticks and lip glosses in my lifetime to know MILKY PINKS are hard to pull off! So this isn't the first brand to struggle with them. First, this color will not work for every skin tone (that includes me LOL). Secondly, the formula is patchy. I always use a lip scrub (Sara Happ). I always moisturize my lips (Fresh Lip Balm). This shade settled into my fine lines. After wearing it for a couple of hours, it got gummy. So I wouldn't recommend this shade to anyone.
NYC New York Color Expert Last Lip Lacquer in Lincoln Square Love Affair - Sweet
The formula for this pink lip lacquer and the one's below applied MUCH better! That makes me conclude the darker colors apply better than the lighter ones. So think about that, if you purchase these. This pink was a little bolder than what I expected. The color is ok on me, but I think it would look better on another skin tone. This laid beautifully on my lips. It felt good on my lips. It was very lightweight. Long lasting? If you start eating and drinking, expect to reapply.
NYC New York Color Expert Last Lip Lacquer in Tribeca Mocha - Sweet
Tribeca Mocha applied very well to my lips. The color applied evenly. What I liked about the last three, was how moisturizing all of them were! Excellent color pay off and coverage. They also have a fabulous shine to them. Again, I wasn't particularly fond of this color on me. Some browns (muddy browns) bring me down (like this one) and others lift me up (example
Bobbi Brown HERE). Do you see the difference?
NYC New York Color Expert Last Lip Lacquer in Turtle Bay Toffee - Supersweet
Loved this one! Turtle Bay Toffee is a brown, but with a hint of red in it. I really liked it and thought it complimented me. Like the two before, great even coverage...bold color...moisturizing and amazing shine.
In summary, the formula for most of these were really good! I would stick with the darker colors or darker pinks. The lighter colors seem to settle into fine lines and can be patchy on the lips. Colors may also be an issue! So take that into account when selecting a shade. Some shades will only work on some skin tones. The packaging is really nice! The doe foot applicator is soft and I love the sturdy clear casing this lip laquer is in. Let me know your thoughts! The WINNER of the
Murad Invisiblur Perfecting Shield is Karen Tsang (Canada). Congratulations Karen! I've sent you an email. Enjoy!
Great review Kim! Those colors look pretty on you! That pink shade is pretty! I'm glad you mentioned the texture in these lip products! I know to stay far away from the one you mentioned had a gummy texture! Thanks for your honesty!
ReplyDeleteHey Kim, I just bought some new lipsticks from Mac. Should have waited for this review. :) I will check it out though. Kim, I just wanted to say THANK YOU for that generous gift. Honestly, I love it a lot, but because it's so delicate, it's hard to take a pic using my big camera. The next time I do my photo shoot, I will show it off. Thank you for being such a wonderful friend!!

On you that daker brown "the turtle bay toffee" looks great and I really like how the dark pink one looks for you. The lighter brown is not bad, but I like the dark one better. As for the first one, the milky pinkish one, I must admit I don't like that one. Not just because you said it makes your lips dry but because the colour is a bit odd. Just like you I was never a fan of this kind of shades (milky pink)....Moreover, I never got the trend of white or milky lipstick and lipglosses. To me they look quite artificial.
ReplyDeleteLovely post! They all look nice! :D Thanks for reviewing!
ReplyDeleteLove the pink one! Looks great on you Kim, infact the brown ones also suit you!
ReplyDeleteGreat review honey!

Kim, the Turtle Bay Toffee looks fab on you! I think this would suit my skin tone, so I'll see if i can find it here:) TY for the review.
ReplyDeleteThe last one is definitely my favourite but I also liked the other brown. I like NYC and their liquid eyeliner used to be my favourite. I like that these are moisturising because liquid lipsticks can sometimes be so drying.

Turtle Bay Toffee and Lincoln Square Love Affair are both lovely shades on you! I didn't think a liquid lipstick would be good, but those both look great!

I love the turtle bay toffee shade on you Kim!! That is gorgoues!! the other colors are nice too but too bad about the first shade being gummy!! I haven't tired any liquid lipsticks yet!
ReplyDeleteThis is so interesting to me, Kim! I was recently gifted a set of Colourpop liquid lipsticks. I love the light shades, find them easy to apply and long lasting, whereas the darker shades are runny, hard to work with an, in one instance, wound up all over the lower half of my face when I tried to touch up a single smudge! Every brand is clearly different and it's all about finding what works for you.

You definitely saved the best for last Kim! The Turtle Bay Toffee is gorgeous on you. Good to hear that the wear is is decent as well.

I don't think anyone can pull off Chelsea Cherry Blossom, Kim! LOL! But gosh, Turtle Bay Toffee looks stunning on you. It seems like every makeup brand out there is jumping onto the liquid lipstick bandwagon and I'm going to check if these are out here, might pick up a few to try!

Wow! Turtle Bay Toffee is your color! It looks great on you! I think I tried one of these, but I ended up giving it away because I didn't like it. It must have been the color, though. Maybe I'll try one again in a darker color. Thanks for the review! Now I know! lol
ReplyDeletePretty colors. I have the same issue with pale tones. I want for them to work on me, but they never do!
ReplyDeleteI agree and think that super light pinks are hard to wear for anyone! I need those last two brown colors in my life! Thank you for the helpful review! I love the price point on these
ReplyDeleteThese shades are all lovely!
ReplyDeleteLovely! Milky pinks, I never would have thought they would be a hard formula to master, but it makes a lot of sense! I do love the last shade the best. Thanks for sharing! XO, Ellese

Kim, that last one looks amazing on you. Love that color, perfect for this season. And I like how looks that brighter pink on you too, so pretty, so romantic. I think from NYC i have tried before just nail polish, I fell in love with pretty lilac tone, years ago. Since then I never have looked at their counter.

I agree with you about the first color. It is a hard color for anyone. I absolutely love the second color though. The pop of pink is beautiful. I like the other colors as well.

Although the darker colors are probably easier to wear - I have to say I really like the lighter shade!

The last one is my favourite, that shade looks great on you Kim!

I love the bright pink shade on you, of course the darker colours look fabulous too. Shame about the first one. I actually prefer these shades on me, nudes with a pink base work better for my complexion however lately I find them to be very grainy on me too. With exception to my YSL but that has a slight sheen and I want a more matte look dammit!

I agree the darker shade leaning towards a coffee/brown colour is my favourite out of the set as well - it looks so rich and gorgeous on you! Moisturising and amazing shine? I'm sold! :)

Love darker colors on you, Kim! Both totally suit your teint. I would go for Tribeca Mocha - sounds great and perfect natural Lip Lacquer for fall. ;)

I loved the bottom one on you the best. It appeared to have better coverage as well. The one at the top looked a mess, like it didn't go on so great. I will miss that one. But, the bottom is gorgeous. Just a great shade for you :))) xx
ReplyDeletei saw you show these on snap chat and was waiting for your review! i really like the mocha and toffee shade on you! looks great! I havent tried NYC brand in a while!

Throughout the summer I had one of these NYC lip glosses but after quite some time and wear I gave up. It felt too clumpy and sticky on me. Loved the color and high gloss but the texture not my favorite.
