PR Sample - Ok. Let's get personal today! How often do you HAVE to shave your legs? I'm a Sasquatch, so I HAVE to shave at least twice a week (sometimes three times a week) HaHaHa I wish I could get away with shaving every two weeks. Can anyone go without shaving for 2 weeks? If so, you're my hero! Well anyway, Whish sent me a full size bottle of their
Coconut Milk Shave Cream With Hair Inhibitor. Whish states this shaving cream will give you the smoothest shave ever AND slow down your hair regrowth. All of this is done by using natural AND organic ingredients! I've used this shaving cream for 3 weeks now, and I've had the same results. I shave on a Sunday and by Thursday, I start feeling stubble. So it slowed the growth of my hair by a couple of days, but nothing earth shattering! It does give a very smooth shave! I love the creamy texture of the shaving cream and it has a delightful coconut scent. It's organic. It's natural. It also moisturizes & nourishes with organic green tea, shea butter, jojoba and honeysuckle extract.
But one little thing bothers me; the word "inhibitor" (maybe it's my background in science; we analyze everything). To inhibit, means TO HINDER... TO RESTRAIN...TO PREVENT... TO STOP... TO BLOCK...TO STUNT! So my question was, WHAT is inhibiting the hair growth? Unfortunately, I didn't look this up until AFTER my 3rd week of using this! It's Chapparel Extract.
When I looked it up, I kinda freaked out because they were saying these negative things about it. But delving further, that seems to be only if you ingest it O_0 But that still bothers me! Ever heard of absorption into the skin? Absorption into the body, can occur. I'll just stop there and let you draw your own conclusion. Personally, I rather just shave more, because I'm reading various things about chapparel on the web
here and
here. Whish does have a shaving cream without an inhibitor. So that's good! But I can't personally recommend this product to you, knowing all of this. It's probably alright, but I am not sure.

Whish Coconut Milk Shave Cream - Not Sweet - see review above
Whish Hand Remedy Cream Review - Not Sweet
Whish also sent me their
Hand Remedy Cream. This cream promises to refresh and refine tired hands (by using alpha hydroxy & glycolic acids), and reduce brown spots (by using mallow extract). It also promises to smooth, brighten and exfoliate. This hand cream, wasn't that great to me. It has a delightful clean fresh scent. Slightly floral, but nothing overpowering. It takes about a minute to dry down. The problem I have with this, is that its (moisturizing properties) don't seem to penetrate the skin. Your skin has a nice shine (glow) to it, but the skin doesn't look nourished or moisturized. Nor does it feel it. It has a slightly greasy feel to it. I'm not loving the formula. I feel you can do a lot better. Both of these products are too expensive to have these kind of issues.

Never heard of this stuff before, but I think I will give it a miss after this review. Stuff in products that prohibit don't always sit well with me, so weird. Thanks for being honest Kim :) x
ReplyDeleteThis is an interesting product the name caught my attention but I had never try. Glad you share with us I shave one a week. I wish I could shave every two weeks.
ReplyDeleteShame that the products don't do what you expected them too, always a bummer when that happens!
ReplyDeleteI tried one of those hair inhibiting moisturisers when it came out, never even finished the bottle, I hated the smell so much and I really couldn't see much of a difference!
Away From The Blue Blog
Hi Kim, it's nice to get those samples but too bad about them!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the review on these products.
Julie
Kmi, good thing you did more research regarding that ingredient. Now, I'm aware so when see this in a product, I'd probably pass TBH. Thanks for this (another) great and honest review, my dear:)
ReplyDeletewhat a great review kim! you always are spot on!
ReplyDeleteYou know it's funny because I can actually go two weeks without shaving my legs lol! I guess I'm lucky that my legs aren't really hairy lol. I've never heard of this brand before, but after reading your review, I think I'll skip these products lol. Great review Kim!
ReplyDeleteScary chemicals in products freak my out! I stick to regular shaving. I used to use depilatory creams but always wondered what was getting into my skin. So razor it is! In the summer I shave every other day. The winter is a treat only shaving once a week!
ReplyDeleteThanks for your honest review on these, Kim! Too bad neither of them worked out. I do love how the shave cream is organic and natural but that is scary about the information you found about!! I don't think I'd want to take the chances either lol!!
ReplyDeleteI was very curious about it since the product is organic and I just googled the extract, too... Well, knowing my luck I will most likely experience all the side effects of it. Shame, really, because the product itself sounds pretty amazing. x
ReplyDeleteI can be your hero, Kim cause I never ever shave thanks to being born hairless. I mean I pluck my underarms once in every two months, not kidding. LOL! I was hoping the hand cream would turn out right but meh, seems like the brand is a no go.

Thank you, as always, for the detailed and honest review. That is one of the things I love most about your blog!! I am actually jealous you only have to shave twice a week. I am like every other day and I really should be shaving every day ughhhh. Such a hassle!
ReplyDeleteI am not a very hairy person so I shave once a week. I would prefer to shave than use these products. It is so true what you said Kim, we always absorb beauty products into our skin. Thanks for the review. xxx
ReplyDeleteGreat reviews! I really appreciate what you brought up about ingredients. The ingredients aren't talked about enough. What you put on your skin matters.
ReplyDeleteI have never heard of this product before. I actually am one of those ladies that barely shaves their legs unless required to do so (embarrassing, I know). I don't do it so often because 99% of the time I'm wearing pants, leggings, or even a long skirt that doesn't show my legs. I'm glad to read on your honest review regarding this product. This reminds me sort of the product Nair. Nair is completely different, not sure if you've ever used it. At least you state that this has a nice scent to it. Nair smells like you're about to spill acid on your leg for your hairs to be removed. The worst part is that it doesn't take it all away like the commercial states.
ReplyDeleteLike you, I'd rather just stick to shaving my legs when I can. Some products are not really worth buying especially if it's going to ruin your skin or not work.

I do like the regular Whish shaving cream since it gives a nice close shave. It's a shame this shaving cream wasn't all that and the whole hair growth inhibitor thing does kind of freak me out a bit. I usually shave my legs once a week.

Hmmmm... that hair inhibitor sounds bit odd to me. I think I'll stick to shaving my legs a few times a week and leave it at that. (And trust me Kim, you're not alone - for me it's twice a week minimum!)
ReplyDeletexox,
Cee
It's embarrassing, but it's been winter so I haven't shaved my legs in a couple weeks haha...Too bad this shaving cream wasn't the greatest. Lovely review!

i have to shave every 3-4 days. had high hopes for these products...always loved the name, whish.
ReplyDeleteI can only go one week without shaving. I guess that makes me almost your hero. I never heard of this brand before. Sorry the experience was not too sweet.
ReplyDeleteI can only go 3 days without shaving… its terrible - I would be concerned about an inhibitor too.
ReplyDeleteI hope to someday get laser ...
Excellent review and was getting excited because I have to shave a lot too. But it sounds like a pass! Thanks for the education on "inhibitors".
