Tom Ford Lips & Boys in Drake Review & Swatches

In 2014, Tom Ford created a Lips & Boys Lipstick Collection. The purpose of the collection, was to create lipsticks inspired by the notable men in the designer's life. I never purchased anything from his 2014 collection, but over the Black Friday weekend his NEW 2015 SHADES caught my eye (specifically a purple shade called Drake). I've never tried any of Tom Ford's lipsticks, because at $52 a POP, the price truly curbed my Tom Ford lipstick desire! HaHaHa The lipsticks in THIS collection are $35, but please realize they are NOT full size (more like a deluxe mini)! $35 was a bit more palatable, so I decided to try one. The black & gold case the lipstick comes in is VERY luxurious! Take this out of your purse and it screams class! The lipstick has Tom Ford's initials inscribed on it and it also smells like vanilla :) I found the lipstick to be smooth, creamy, very moisturizing and absolutely luxurious. It also had a beautiful shine. "Drake" is a beautiful purple, but it's MUCH LIGHTER than what's shown on Tom Ford's website. It's also less metallic, than what you would think. This lipstick has more of a "milky" tone to it. When I swatched it on the back of my hand, it reminded me of Lipstick Queen's Let Them Eat Cake (metallic & milky)! However, Lipstick Queen's lipstick is a much lighter purple on the lips. Also, twist the lipstick 2-3 times, and you're done. There's not much product for the price. So if you plan on using this lipstick everyday, you'll run out very quickly (you'll have to buy several). This is a "special occasion" lipstick. If you purchase 3 of these lipsticks, you'll get a special case to store them in. Overall, I'm pretty pleased with my purchase. The formula is awesome...the packaging is exquisite...I just wish Tom Ford gave you more product! It looks like he will release new colors for this collection every year. Have you tried Tom Ford's lipsticks? I want to try more, but with those prices I want to try them in a store. Who wants to spend $52 on a lipstick color they hate or doesn't look good on them? LOL

    Its amazing Kim, Im totally speechless! Love this brand for lipsticks so much but the prices are very prohibitive for me, so you definitely did right! The packaging is precious and Im in love with the formula too. And look at u, looking so smashing with it! xo

    This shade just looks so beautiful, Kim:) It's worth the splurge IMO. I must admit thought that as much as I wanna try it, that price....gaaaaah! This, and Edward Bess' lipsticks are in my to-buy list when I win the lotto:D

    That shade is gorgeous on you Kim! The hefty price tag has kept me from purchasing Tom Ford lipsticks but I should look into this range. I'm so slow with using up my lipsticks that I might actually be able to finish one haha ;p

    I've treated myself to one Tom Ford lipstick in my life, for my 29th birthday. The formula is beautiful, the package is stunning but honestly, I still don't feel like the price point is justifiable. But the minis always tempt me, there are so many fabulous colours. I love this one on you, Kim!

    This looks amazing on you! I do think the swatches on the models on his website are a bit misleading though. And I definitely can't fork over $50+ for a lippie. But there is one of these I think I will treat myself to!!! I just need to get the courage to pull the trigger. Talk me into it? haha

    This is a great lip colour on you Kim. Admittedly, I've only tried a couple Tom Ford beauty colours, but I did love the luxe packaging. Glad that you always keep us updated with all of these new beauty items. :)

    I had no idea Tom Ford lipsticks were so expensive, though you managed to find a pretty good deal on this mini size! One thing is for certain Kim - it's worth every single penny, it looks gorgeous on you!! :)

    aaaahhhh Tom Ford Lipstick!! I have seen this signature packing a million times on instagrama and have heard so much about it but like you previously, I have not tried them, not even at the counter as we don't have them here from where I am (KL, Malaysia).

    I do spot some favourite colour shades over at their website from the link you shared and they look super shiny and metallic looking, though the colour selection is pretty wide and varied, which is awesome!

    It is nice to hear that you absolutely LOVE your choice. If I were you, and I realized that the one and only lipstick from my high expectation brand does not live up to that, I would be heart broken *_^

    The shade looks more deep brown to me here though, perhaps it is the lighting, but yes! I have to agree with you, the packaging is super luxurious! and yes, more products, please TOM FORD *_^
