I hate to say this, but
Crabtree & Evelyn's Avocado Olive & Basil Ultra-Moisturising Hand Therapy is just ok to me. There's a lot to love. The avocado & basil scents are very authentic, soft and both smell really good. The packaging for this hand cream (as ALL Crabtree & Evelyn products) is beautiful. The color of the tube is a soft avocado green and displays a beautifully illustrated avocado branch. But that is where THE GOOD stops! The problem I have with this hand cream is the formula. Whenever I applied it, I had to wait a good 10 minutes for it to dry down. It was a tad oily/greasy to me. That dissipates after it dries, but after it dried my skin didn't feel (or look) very moisturized. Soft? YES! Moisturized? NO! I do want to say, this is listed as an Award Winning lotion on Crabtree & Evelyn's website. It also gets 4 out of 5 Stars (5 Reviews). For me, it's just ok. Maybe if you don't have super dry hands, this will work for you. If nothing else, you will have soft hands. It's just really light on moisture. My hands, pretty much said "Is that it?" LOL I haven't tried many Crabtree & Evelyn products. What are your experiences with this brand? Hope you're having a fabulous weekend.

Crabtree & Evelyn Avocado Olive & Basil Ultra Moisturising Hand Therapy is Bittersweet
Shame it's not so great for you Kim, especially after you read all the other great reviews!
ReplyDeleteI haven't tried this brad before but I did get some moisturiser and shower gel as a Christmas present so hopefully the moisturiser is okay! I haven't tried it yet. If it at least makes my skin soft I can just use it over summer when I don't need a lot of moisture :)

I had not try any of their products but the ingredients in this moisturizer caught my eyes. I do not have severe dry hand but love when they are super soft.
ReplyDeleteSuch a great product!!!

10 minutes? That's a long time! Thanks for this warning, Kim. I haven't bought a lot of Crabtree, but did like some of their stuff. They have this lotion meant for those who garden (I think) that I do wanna try coz I've heard so many good things about it.:)
ReplyDeleteHope you're having a fab weekend.:)
Hmmm...it sounds like an interesting produt but I'll have to skip it. I don't like having greasy hands and I don't really like Avacado anyway. So thank you so much for your review! <3

That's too bad. It sounds like a great combination. It is quite annoying using greasy lotion! I'm very finicky about lotions for that reason.
ReplyDeleteGreat review ! :)

What a shame that this did not work for you. I would have thought with ingredients like avocado and olive oil that it would have been super moisturizing. Thanks for sharing your honest thoughts.

Such a shame you didn't like this! I haven't tried any of their products before, but I don't like when lotion isn't up to scratch, especially how dry my skin gets in the winter. Super review doll, Happy Sunday xx
ReplyDeleteI've tried one Crabtree & Evelyn hand cream before, it was some time ago so I can't remember which it was but I wasn't too impressed by it either. I had the same experience with you, it was not moisturizing for my hands. :-(

I haven't used their products lately as there are so many choices! I like Aveeno as my hands have been kind of dry, seems to work well. Thanks for writing about this!

I agree that the packaging is cute Kim! Too bad this didn't work. I hate it when things take too long to soak into our skin, especially if it's not going to do much other than make them soft. My hands get too dry, so I need something that works!
ReplyDeleteOh the fact that it has Avocado in the name is enough to convince me lol. Looks super moisturizing, and sounds amazing to have during the winter!
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing! :)

Thanks for the honest review. Too bad that it was greasy and still not moisturizing afterwards. I used to love Crabtree and Evelyn products back when there was a store at a nearby mall since some of their products are a hit or miss so it was better just to try it out and see it in person. Now it seems like several of their stores have closed, so it's been a while since I've purchased their products.
ReplyDeletePity about the moisturiser, I have used some of Crabtree & Evelyn products in the past and liked the ones I used, but I've not used these here. Thanks for the review. Hope you had a wonderful weekend.

Wow if a hand cream is going to be greasy, it should at least be moisturizing. The scent sounds lovely though. Thanks for trying this one out and sharing your experience Kim.
ReplyDeleteMy experience with Crabtree & Evelyn has been similar to yours, Kim. For me, the products are just okay, and maybe it's because they get so much hype, but considering how heavy and greasy the formulas are, they don't actually give much moisture. Great review :)

thanks for sharing! the avocado and scent does sound amazing though. and tube is lovely :)
ReplyDeleteThanks for the warning this product is greasy! Too bad it didn't work that well for you! Great review Kim!
ReplyDeleteBah sorry to hear :( their products are usually good. For a long while I used their Gardener's hand lotion and it worked wonders.
ReplyDeleteI haven't bought their products for a long time, but I do love their hand recovery.

I have very dry skin, I am sure my hands would ask the same question too. I love eating avocado and I know that it is very moisturizing, but I don't think I want the scent on my skin. Great review, doll!
ReplyDeleteHmmm bummer sounds kind of like a skip! I have never heard of the brand though, I am interesting in their other products!

This is a very good brand, sad it didn't meet their standards. I hate when creams are greasy and do not absorb the skin. I just found a Marula oil that was in my Rachel Zoe box of style that I am in love with and it goes right into the skin. I would try a sample of this one to see if it did the same for me as you, but not expect too much from it.
