Olympia Le-Tan x Diptyque Rosaviola Candle

This was a collaboration made in Valentine heaven! Olympia Le Tan & Diptyque! I'm a huge fan of the French fashion designer and the popular candle-fragrance maker. I fell in love with the packaging the first time I saw it, but was unsure if I would be equally fond of the scent. As it is roses! And rose-scented anything can be funny to me.  So I purchased the smaller candle (it can be purchased in 2.4 oz/70 g or 6.5 oz/190g) and I'm happy to say I really like it. It smells like rose petals (very soft) and I want to say powder you would find on a fancy powder puff. It is officially described as such: "This enchanting candle is infused with a strong Rose base with hints of Lipstick and a warm Leather top note." I detect neither of the latter. LOL What I like is that the scent is not overwhelming. The design of the box is gorgeous! It has Diptyque's signature oval and pink & red kisses. When you open the box, the inner liner is an explosion of hearts, roses, lipstick, lips and Olympia Le-Tan's signature clutch books & handbags. The candle itself is a frosted purplish-pink, with a raised & sewn Diptyque patch (cloth) with red lips. I will be keeping both the box & the candle after use. This candle is limited edition and a great add to your collection if you're a fan of either brand. There's also a lotion, perfume & soap in this collection. Overall, it's very charming. I purchased my candle from Nordstrom, but this collection can also be found on Net-A-Porter, Bergdorf Goodman and Neiman Marcus.

  2. I've sworn off pricey candles but this collaboration may have me changing my tune (for now at least ;p) The packaging of both the box and candle are just absolutely darling! The fact that it's limited edition just makes me want it all the more. You can totally reuse the candle holder as a fancy holder for something when you'r done with the candle.

And I must admit I have a love/hate relationship with rose-scented stuff, but I do love the flower:D

  7. Diptyque is known for their scrambled letters and distinctive scents. I love how these 3 got together and created something so magnifique. You should try their Au de toilette too. Great review, Kim!

  10. I'm not a fan of rose scents at all, which is a shame because I was so smitten with this collaboration - hopefully they'll do another one with a different candle down the road, because I would love to have a little Olympia Tan x Diptyque box, how cute! (And definitely as close as I'll ever get to a real Olympia Le Tan bag!)

  17. Like the fact that they added leather notes, I think they'd make the fragrance less girly and more sensual and grown-up. I actually smelled a few rose candles today (finally got self out of the house...) and most smelled too overpowering and almost headache'y. Besides it's hard to go wrong with Diptyque. x
