Kylie Metal Matte Lipstick in Reign, King K And Heir Review & Swatches

Just as I thought I was through with Kylie Jenner and her lip kits, she came out with METALS, GLOSSES and a PURPLE lipstick. All of which I love. So for the next three weeks, I'll review each for you. Let's start with the metals! The Kylie Metal Matte Lipsticks ($18) can be purchased individually or as a set. My thoughts on each are below.

  Kylie Metal Matte Lipsticks in Reign, King K and Heir are Supersweet

Let me preface this review by saying, these are the lightest feeling metal lipsticks I've ever applied to my lips. LOL The formula is whisper thin & light as a feather, but the color pay-off is amazing. Another thing that puzzled me, was they were not liquid-y. It's a dry formula, but it doesn't make your lips dry. Amazing. They're also not sticky. These also have the same great cake scent, I love. Now the colors...

Kylie Metal Matte Lipstick in Heir

Heir is described on her website as a pinkish gold metallic and she's right. But it definitely leans more on the pink side. It's almost a peachy pink. You guys know how I feel about pink! Sometimes they work for me and sometimes they don't. This one is ok on me, but I think it would look better on a lighter skin tone. It's perfect for Summer.

 

Kylie Metal Matte Lipstick in King K

King K is described on her website as a soft metallic gold. Right again! It reminds me of a rose gold. I love bronze & gold colors.  I thought I had a metallic gold lipstick/lipgloss in my collection (and I do)...it's Anastasia Beverly Hills lip gloss in Gilded, but it gives off a different effect than this. Also I have my NYX Wicked Lipstick in Wrath, but it's a bronze. A beauty blogger knows her collection! HaHaHa So not having anything like King K is refreshing to own.

 Kylie Metal Matte Lipstick in Reign

Reign is my absolute personal favorite. For some reason, I rock darker colors better. Give me the reds ... the purples etc. On her site, Reign is described as a Bronzy Copper Metallic.  This shade has several colors going on...It's purple...It's maroon...It's Copper and maybe a little Bronze. It's a mix of colors. It's very beautiful and I think would look great especially on medium skin tones and darker. It's similar to Dose of Colors Teddy. Reign is the color her BFF Jordyn wore (see my post here). As you can see it shows up more purple on me. It's amazing how lip products can look differently on various skin tones. So I love this one.

 

 Contour vs No Contour

I decided to compare Reign to Dose of Colors Corset. Corset is definitely more purple. As mentioned above, it's closer to Dose of Colors Teddy (which was limited edition). While I was comparing the two, I couldn't help but notice my nose. LOL It looked so much slimmer in the Corset picture. I forgot I contoured! HaHaHa I purchased a lot of contouring palettes last year, but never used them or reviewed them due to the remodeling of my home. Just now playing with them and I see the difference. It really does slim down your face! So you guys are my witness! If anyone says Kim had a nose job...That is TOTALLY NOT TRUE! Contour baby! :D
