Coola Unscented Classic Sunscreen SPF 30 Moisturizer for Face Review and Swatches

Sponsored: I loved Coola's Mineral LipLux SPF30 Lip Balm, so I was asked to try Coola's Classic SPF 30 Unscented Sunscreen for Face. Sunscreen is not only important for your body, but also your face, neck & ears! Those are very tender areas that burn easily. I've mentioned before, if I don't wear sunscreen on my face and I'm out in the sun too long, around my eyes swell up. Not pretty! Some makeup foundations have sunscreen & some do not. I have a little bit of both in my makeup arsenal. I think the most common complaints about face sunscreen are how heavy/greasy they can be and how the sunscreen affects your makeup application. Some face sunscreens are so heavy, you don't want to apply makeup afterwards. Well I've tested this out and this gets a BIG THUMBS UP from me! I've never worn a face sunscreen so lightweight! I love my Aveeno face sunscreen, but Coola is super lightweight! I also like the fact that it dries fast, it didn't compete with any of my makeup products and I never burned. I am really impressed! PLUS, COOLA gets it! This face sunscreen is UNSCENTED! That's so important to me! I also like the fact that it's cruelty free, farm to face, proudly made in the USA, a portion of their profits goes to SaveOurSeas.org, the size is TSA approved, it has both UVA/UVB protection and is 70% Certified Organic. It's even endorsed by the American Lifeguard Association! My Aveeno is SPF50, so I'll be keeping it for beachy outdoor activities, but COOLA is my new everyday face sunscreen. Very impressed & I highly recommend it. Thanks for letting me try this COOLA! I love it!

  3. It sounds like a great product Kim! I love that it's unscented too, I don't mind the smell of sunscreen but it's good not to smell like sunscreen all day every day, haha!

  5. Sunscreen has become so vital for me. I've always been someone who BURNS under the sun (hence one of the many reasons why I despise summer lol) and living in Australia the sun is a serious threat in terms of cancer. I always try to remember to put some on but I usually forget. That's why I love products that have an SPF implemented. I recently changed over sunscreen to something which is more like a "zinc" but it is so thick and hard to out on (which would only mean it's a good thing really) it really deters me to do so.

  9. Wow this sounds like the best face sunscreen ever. I have a candidate which might beat it (by Spanish brand Isdin) but Coola as an added value is 70% organic and eco-friendly. Great find Kim.

  10. I will keep this in mind! I currently use Loreal Miracle Blur with SPF30 which I love. But if they ever stop making it I will be lost at what to try!

  11. I'm curious, Kim - where are Coola products available? It sounds like you've been really pleased with what you've tried so far so I'm intrigued but I've never seen the brand in stores anywhere. Is it online only? Or perhaps not available in Canada? All of my make-up has SPF but since I don't always wear it, having a good face sunscreen would be great.

  12. Coola is a brand that I have been wanting to try for a long time now. I really like using organic sunscreen, but some of them are super thick and heavy! This sounds like it is exactly what I want out of a sunscreen!

  13. I appreciate that it's unscented. As much as a pleasant scent is nice, I always appreciate when my skincare and makeup is unscented because it's just better for you. I may have to try this out, especially as you mentioned how lightweight it feels.

  14. Good reminder about not forgetting to apply sunscreen to the neck & ears as well as the face. I think most people tend to forget. I know that I used to. This sunscreen sounds great to me since it is both lightweight and unscented not to mention that it's 70% certified organic and endorsed by the American Lifeguard Association!. I will have to try this one when I'm finished with the Korres sunscreen I'm using now. Thanks for the review Kim!

  15. I have heard great things about the Coola sunscreens! I honestly don't wear sunscreen on a daily basis only when I am at the beach or tanning. I should probably check and see if my foundations or lotions have a sunscreen in them. Thanks for sharing Kim!

  16. I've seen Coola comes up a lot when it comes to sunscreen recs, Kim:) Love the fact that it's super lightweight. Hate sunscreens that are so thick you literally have to spackle them! This one sounds like a winner:)

  17. I usually wear sunscreen in some form on a daily basis, because my parents were adamant about us wearing sun protection as children. Great review Kim, and it's nice to hear that it's supported by The American Lifeguard Association.

  18. What a great review, Kim and this brand is certainly under my radar recently. I have a few facial sunscreen to go through currently but once I'm done with them, I'll be picking this up.

  20. I've never heard of this brand before, thanks for introducing me to it, I'm glad you liked it! I've been using an SPF BB Cream by Andalou Naturals and it's SUPER heavy and it's white, so I really need to massage it well into my face, which is so time consuming. I love the fact that one is light weight, so I'm sure it's easy to blend. I'm not going to lie, one place I always forget to apply sunscreen is on my ears and you'd think after getting burned so bad there before I would, thanks for the reminder! I hope you're having a wonderful week so far, gorgeous!

  21. I'm so glad to hear that this is nice and that you can apply makeup over it! I'm glad you love this, Kim! I've never actually used a face sunscreen before. I was afraid of greasyness and it causing my face to break out. So I'll usually just use a moisturizer or foundation with spf if I know I'll be outside! I really should get something like this though!

  22. Ah, glad you're loving this! I really like Coola as a brand. I've used their Matte Cucumber sunscreen and it's fab stuff! :)

  23. That seems like an interesting product. Personally, I don't feel the need to apply sunscreen since I chose a day moisturizer with SPF content already... And just like what you said... some sunscreens can be too thick that you kinda don't want to apply makeup anymore and I want my makeup LOL

  24. This sounds like an awesome product! This seriously reminds me that I need to be better about applying sunscreen!!

  25. Lightweight will definitely work for me because I have oily skin. Hubby got sunburned during our vacation and it was not pretty. I came out okay because I'm a little more careful when it comes to these things. Thanks for the review, doll!

  26. I turn red when I don't put sunscreen on my face. This is a good product especially when it is lightweight and unscented. That will work well for me.

  27. Glad to hear this one gets a supersweet rating for you :) I'm also a fan of Aveeno sunscreens and actually just ran out of mine! I guess I'll have to check out this coola one before I re-stock :D

  28. Yay for this Supersweet sunscreen ! I am using one from Bioderma, but I admit its too heavy for my liking.

  29. Oooh, a light weight sunscreen is so important! I'll admit, I've skipped sunscreen application some days because the one I had was just so heavy and greasy :( Luckily the UD Perfector has 20 SPF in it! However, this would be a nice option to have as well.

  30. I have never heard of this brand. It is great that this sunscreen is unscented, as most sunscreens leave a terrible smell on the skin. Great find Kim!
