Mineral Fusion Mineral Makeup is Sweet
Step 1 - Mineral Fusion Liquid Mineral Foundation - $29.99
If there's one thing I can say about mineral makeup, it's GOOD FOR YOU! This foundation is gluten, cruelty, paraben, artificial color, fragrance, talc and phthalate free. It's also hypo-allergenic! There are 8 shades and I picked Olive 2 (which is second to last). So Mineral Fusion needs to work on offering more shade options for WOC. I REALLY like this foundation! I was a little worried when I poured it out (on my hand), that it would be too orange/yellow for my face, but as you can see it blended well. It's described as full coverage, however in my opinion it gives medium coverage (you can still see my freckles). I love how lightweight it is! It's not heavy, sticky, oily or greasy. It also blended effortlessly. You will still need a concealer (as you can see with my under-eye circles & such), unless you have really good skin. I'm more impressed with this foundation, than my Urban Decay One & Done! The coverage with this was more natural. It gave me a glow! My skin looked healthy! Plus, this foundation lasted all day! It definitely exceeded my expectations. The only thing I wish, is that it would come with a pump. Pouring gets messy. This is a nice everyday foundation. Bottom line: The formula is great, but Mineral Fusion needs to make a wider selection of shades available and rethink the bottled packaging (or offer a pump). I'm shown below, only with the liquid makeup on. No concealer. Click on pictures to make bigger.
Step 2 - Mineral Fusion SPF 30 Brush - On Sun Defense Powder - $24.99
A powder that protects you from the SUN? I had never heard of such a thing! Have you!?! I think it's ingenious. You guys know I can't go without sun protection! So how did this work? Really good! This is a transparent, mineral, sunscreen powder! One end holds the powder (unscrew the cap & shake the powder into the cap) and the other end is a brush, which to apply it (the brush is retractable). Very little goes a long way! You don't need much powder. This powder set my foundation really well. It took away any shine that I had (see above) and created a unified look. I ran errands and never experienced any adverse reaction to the sun. This will easily fit into your purse (make sure the cap is on good) or desk drawer at work. It makes reapplying very easy. The only negative I had is that some of the brush bristles fall out while applying. I think a shorter, fluffier brush would work better, but the quality of the product is excellent. Below, I'm wearing the liquid foundation above and this powder.
Step 3 (Final Result) - Mineral Fusion 3-In-1 Color Stick in Magnetic - $19.99
Cheeks. Eyes. Lips. This is a 3-in-1 color stick! This was the icing on the cake! I've had good cheek & lip tints. I've had bad ones. I'm happy to say this is a good one! They picked this color for me! Mineral Fusion how did you know I love purple? LOL This is called Magnetic and it looks like a raisin color. They describe it as a light bronze shimmer, but it has hints of purple. The color is soft & natural looking. It was moisturizing to my lips. I applied it to my cheeks & lips below. I didn't try my eyes. This really topped off my look. I loved how natural my entire face looked. This is offered in three other colors (Berry Glow, Rosette and Terra Cotta).
I am BEYOND impressed with Mineral Fusion! You guys have really made me change my thinking regarding mineral makeup. I once thought it was just not for me, but this has proven me wrong. Besides the little quirks above (packaging & offering more colors), the formula for their products are amazing. That's the only thing that kept them from getting a Supersweet rating. I will definitely purchase more of their products! They have foundations, concealers, bronzers, setting powders, primers, lip sticks, lip tints, lip gloss, cheek tints, eyeshadows, mascaras, hair care, nail care AND REALLY A FULL BEAUTY LINE! You can buy Mineral Fusion products on their website, Whole Foods, Amazon, Target, ULTA, dermstore and many other places. It gets my seal of approval! Thanks for letting me try your products. I definitely want to try more.
Excuse the plastering behind me. LOL Contractors will be painting this weekend.
ooh, i used to use a powder very similar with SPF...it comes in handy here! i'll have to check our whole foods.
ReplyDeleteWe have a brand here that does a similar powder with SPF but it's never in stock when I want to try, haha! Glad you had such a great experience with this company.

I've always seen this brand but like you, I don't think mineral makeup would suit me so I never bothered to try anything from them. Will pick up a couple of stuff to try soon, I trust your review, Kim. I would probably skip the foundation though, it's so strange that they don't have a pump.

Thanks for this, Kim! I've tried PUR Minerals before, but that thing broke me out so bad that I never tried another one. I might give this brand a go, because I've been looking for something like that Colorscience powder sunscreen, and the MF Sun Defense Powder sounds like it might do the job. You look so good wearing this line:)
ReplyDeletePS I just wanna say I love your freckles:)
Have a fab weekend!
Yes I've seen this brand in the health and beauty section at Whole Foods but I never really thought much of it cause I'm into CC Cushions. Thanks for introducing the line Kim! The foundation really does give you a nice glow. And I would definitely be down with the sun powder. What a great product for travel!
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you found mineral makeup you like Kim. I have been loving it for years and appreciate that it is natural from the earth.
ReplyDeleteThese look really nice and your skin looked great in that combo!

I've always stayed away from mineral make-up because I worried it wouldn't give me enough coverage, but lately I've been thinking that some of the mineral make-up kits I see would be very practical for travelling. I'm glad to know there's a brand out there that really lives up to what it promises - you look fabulous with these products on, Kim!

I have personally not ever been into mineral makeup/foundation since a lot of them have talc. But, it's good to know that this is a brand free of talc, parabens, and also cruelty-free. My sister swears by mineral makeup, so I will forward this one to her. Thanks for the intro, and great review Kim! :) Have a lovely weekend. /Madison
ReplyDeleteI've see mineral fusion at whole foods all the time! I actually bough a shadow trio from them, and liked it well enough but passes it on to a friend because I didn't use it much. But that's all ive tried from them. I would be skeptical too if mineral makeup hasn't worked for you in the past but you're right that everything is worth a try again. I think they are a vegan makeup brand too but I'm not 100% sure!
ReplyDeleteThis foundation sounds nice!! They do need a pump I agree, and yes they should expand their shade range. I've never heard of a brush like that before either! They concept of that sounds cool! And that 3 in 1 color stick looks beautiful! I'm glad you liked everything that you got to try Kim!
When one of your favorite beauty bloggers loves the brand you've been using...YASSSSS!!!! Haha! I told you how excited about reading this post because like I've mentioned in some of your other posts, my skin has been acting all sorts of crazy for months now. I had to give away a lot of my makeup because I discovered that they were breaking me out, BAD! I shop at WF regularly and decided to check them out and have been using them ever since! I use their powder foundation in olive because whenever I go, they never have the liquid or don't have my shade, I'll have to check again because I'm running low. There's one product you reviewed that I'm going to definitely run out and buy and that's the sun defense powder; I didn't know about this one! I'm so glad you loved the products, now I feel even better about using them :) I hope you have an amazing weekend ahead, beautiful!

So glad this makeup line worked for you. I don't think I have tried mineral makeup yet. I love the lipstick shade you got. Definitely something I would wear. xxx
ReplyDeleteI love Bare Mineral makeup and would try this line too. It's fab to find physical sunscreen powders!
ReplyDeleteAll of this looks really nice! The foundation looks great on you and that Raisin color stick is really pretty! I think you made some great suggestions too like a pump foundation and a short more dense brush for the finishing powder.
ReplyDeleteI have a shampoo and a face wash from Mineral Fusion that I love! It's a great brand, but I've only tried a couple of makeup products. I have a large sample of a bronzer that I really like too. I'm so glad these products work for you! The foundation looks great on you, and I'm really interested in trying that powder with spf. Glad you got to try some good products!
ReplyDeleteI have never ever tried any type of mineral make up... i've always had the impression that these are lightweight and will never give me the coverage I need. Glad these worked.
ReplyDeleteI've heard of this brand but I never really looked into it. Like you, I just always thought that maybe it wouldn't work for me because of the coverage. I'm glad to hear that this worked out for you. I love that it's actually good for you too...I might have to check into this brand.
