Round-Up of Fall Fashion and Beauty Trends

A new season is the perfect time to refresh (or even completely revamp) both your wardrobe and beauty routine. And with fall’s wide range of offerings, there’s no shortage of new looks to go around. The common denominator across the board? Tons of texture along with rich, unexpected pops of color. Take a peek at the top fall trends in fashion and beauty to add to your seasonal arsenal.

Vibrant Velvet

It may be a tad too warm to rock some of fall’s trends just yet, but bold-color velvet isn’t one of them. Glamour points out that velvet works just as well in the sweltering heat as it does on a crisp autumn day, especially when rendered in saturated, eye-popping hues—think cobalt instead of navy and ochre or raspberry instead of black. Opt for the trend in a slip dress or trouser now, and then layer in a few basics (a leather jacket, thin turtleneck, tights) once the cooler weather finally arrives.

Elegant Bohemian

Though florals are usually associated with the spring and summer seasons, fall 2016 is hoping to single-handedly change that with its offering of bohemian-inspired maxi dresses. With darker tones and more subdued floral patterns, these dresses read a bit more elegant than your usual boho-festival wear. Dress this trend up with a chunky heel and chic accessories or down with a pair of boots.

Flared Jeans

The fashion world has been fairly obsessed with all things retro for a while now, so it’s not too surprising that fall’s must-have jean happens to be the flare. As Lyst notes, flared styles are the perfect way to give a nod to the ‘70s—not to mention the figure-flattering silhouette is surprisingly versatile and easy to wear. Grab them in a dark wash and pair with a fitted blazer and heeled ankle booties for a chic workday ensemble.

Dark Lips

We know, we know: dark lips for fall are anything but groundbreaking. But this season, the lip color in question is trending more towards black than red, giving it an added edge that is equally sexy, elegant, and a little bit goth. Rock a matte finish for every day wear, then turn up the gloss factor when it’s time to step out for the night.

The Long Bob

The long bob (or lob, as it’s affectionately referred to) is back for the fall—and our morning routine couldn’t be happier. According to Cosmopolitan, women want the versatility of having slightly longer hair with built-in layers, which is what’s most appealing about the long bob. At the end of the day, this hairstyle provides style without requiring hours of actual styling, making it a win in our book.

Pretty in Peach

It’s true: everything about the color peach practically screams spring. So much so, in fact, that we’ve never even given the color the chance to prove just how pretty it might be in the fall. This season, the soft shade is showing off its unexpectedly sophisticated and romantic side on eyelids, cheeks, and lips. Find your perfect peachy shade and apply accordingly.

  6. I love that the flare is back again. The 70s is my favorite past era of fashion. The lines were so feminine. Skinny jeans are so no my thing! Eventually I will grow my hair back into a bob. It is always classic and easy to care for. :)

  7. Great round-up, Kim:) Good to see that peach is sticking around for fall....such a great colour that I think suits everyone. And yes to the boho look. I think the darker tones of boho-inspired fall dresses are just beautiful.

  10. Clothing-wise, it's definitely that awkward stage of fall where I want to wear the fall trends and it feels weird to wear summer clothes, but the weather won't quite permit it...sigh. Few more weeks!
I'm quite excited about elegant bohemian and flared jeans coming back. Hehe, I've got to get more playful with my closet :D

  11. Oh Kim, where do i begin. They all look so good but im not paying that much on ebay. So excited about this collection for the same points you mentioned. But that mix up though, smh. Btw Taraji looked gorgeous last night at the Emmys. I'm done too as far as AA and getting roles and stuff. It makes me sad and truly bothers me. How could so many talents go to waste cos of melanin? Well, it's all good. I do like Empire but then again you raised some great points. I relate, totally. Enjoy your haul babe. You lucky duck!

  12. Dark lips is always a must for fall! Idk how I feel about flared jeans and velvet but I always love a good floral top. Bobs are super cute. I used to have a bob back in college where it was longer in the front and a little shorter in the back. Thanks for sharing these fall trends Kim!

  14. Fall trends are always so interesting to me - because there's always something that seems so out there, like peach, but that ends up really working for the season. Of course I love peach all year long for make-up, so I'm happy about this trend. I'm a little more skeptical about the velvet trend, but I have seen some people wear it well.

  17. Totally agree about the long bob! It has greatly reduced the amount of time I have to spend on my hair without going super short. That's interesting about peach. I love that shade in my makeup, so I'm happy to hear it's still in for fall!

  18. I just cut my hair into a long angled bob and I am in LOVE with it. It's so easy to style and I'm so into messy beachy waves...which are so effortless, and perfect for dirty hair. LOL!
