Pixi by Petra Nourishing Cleansing Balm - Bittersweet
I've never used a cleansing balm before. Have you? I usually use micellar water/cleansing oil as a first step to removing makeup. Then I use a cleanser (REN Skincare). When I opened the jar, I noticed this was a soft solid, which makes it perfect for travel. The consistency of this cleansing balm is similar to the feel of oatmeal, but also petroleum jelly. There's also a light scent of roses. There are chunks of product in it that "melt" once applied to the skin. Let me first tell you what I liked about this cleansing balm. It removed ALL of my makeup. It even removed stubborn eye liner & mascara. That impressed me. I also loved how my skin felt AFTER using it. My skin felt SUPER SOFT. What I didn't like, was the heavy balm feel when I applied it to my face (but this may just take some getting use to). When I used a warm cloth to remove the balm, it did wipe off clean and my skin felt clean. The ingredients of sweet almond, cocoa butter and shea butter are nice. I love that it's paraben free & that it is not tested on animals. It does what it says, but the texture may take getting use to.Pixi by Petra Glow Tonic - Sweet
You've probably seen a number of reviews for Pixi Glow Tonic around the blogosphere. It's very popular and definitely has a cult following. I was very excited to see it in this box, because I've never tried it before. Pixi Glow Tonic is an exfoliating toner with 5% glycolic acid, aloe & ginseng. You apply it with a cotton pad and sweep it across the face & neck (after cleansing both day & night). I love how refreshed my skin felt after using glow tonic. It's very light & has a clean "medical" scent. It's not greasy or oily. It also has a water-like consistency. Just as the name suggests, your skin is left with a beautiful glow. One thing my skincare was missing, was a tonic/toner. So, I'll definitely be incorporating this into my skincare system. Pixi is now offering this in pad form! So I'm very excited about that.Pixi by Petra Rose Oil Blend - Sweet
My dry skin loved this product! Pixi by Petra Rose Oil Blend is a nourishing face oil. I had my doubts, especially because of its rose scent. I usually don't like scented skincare products, but this scent is very soft. This oil felt very nourishing to my skin. My dry skin sucked it up. It also left my skin with a really nice glow. You also don't need very much. A couple of drops will do. I only used this at night! I think it's too much for daytime or with makeup application. Also, I think this would be too much for oily skin types. But if you have dry skin or dry areas, this should work for you.Pixi by Petra Lip Lift Max in Petal Ice - Sweet
Pixi by Petra Lip Lift Max, promises to fill in lip lines and volumize (firm & plump). It does both without any tingling sensations, which is a common complaint about lip plumpers. As a matter of fact you get a refreshing cooling sensation. When you initially apply this, it is very sticky. But as it melts into your lips, they feel moisturized and the stickiness goes away. Give it a couple of minutes and fine lines dissipate as well. Lips also appear fuller. You can wear this alone. It works well with lip glosses & liquid lipsticks. But with regular lipsticks, this may be a problem.Pixi by Petra Beauty Blush Duo + Kabuki in Peach Honey - Bittersweet
The last item that was sent to me was the Pixi by Petra Beauty Blush Duo with Kabuki brush in the shade Peach Honey. The color is really soft & pretty! However, I'm not a huge fan of shimmery & sparkly blushes. I found this worked better as a highlighter and will be using it as such. I show each of the shades below on their own and also blended together.
Have you tried any of these Pixi skincare or makeup items?
Let me know your thoughts in the comment section. Have a great weekend!
Haven't heard of this brand but they look like wonderful products.

They sent you an awesome variety of products. Great to read your review on the glow tonic. Lots of bloggers and youtubers claim this one as their holy grail. So glad it worked on your sensitive skin. I need to give it a try too. Xxx
ReplyDeleteOh, I love Pixi very much!
ReplyDeleteEspecially the glow tonic, its one of my all time faves!

I really need to try out more products from pixi! I've never tried a cleansing balm before either. It does sound nice, but also something that you have to get use to the texture of! I've been meaning to try that glow tonic for forever! I'd love to try that Rose oil too. I'm a huge fan of rose scents, but that's good to know it's a light one! And I do think that duo is gorgeous, but better suited as a highlighter too! Looks like a nice box of goodies, Kim!
ReplyDeleteaww what a lovely products! ♥ I should care more about my skin...

That toner has been on my radar for months! I have a BB Cream from Pixi and I loved using it during summer, it made my skin look very nice and radiant. Definitely need to try more from this brand.

I'm a big Pixi fan, Kim, and was really sad when Target left Canada as that was the only place I know that carries the brand here...sigh...The Tonic Glow is one I've wanted to try as well for so long. Although I love my toner now, I've never used an acid toner before. Thanks for the reviews of these products:)
ReplyDeleteI haven't tried any products from pixi but have heard some really amazing reviews about their products especially the toner. The lip lift max also sounds cool!

I have not tried this brand yet! I really want to! Thanks for the helpful post! I know what I'm off to get this weekend!

I'm a huge fan of cleansing balms, I'd love to try this pixi one!
ReplyDeletewww.samanthamariko.com
I've been wanting to try out the cleansing balm ever since I heard of it! I think the heaviness is something that you get used to after using a balm for a while. Or at least it was something I got used to lol. That blush looks so pretty but you're right, it looks more like a highlighter than a blush, especially when its blended together.

Pixi was smart to choose you. You make a great blog ambassador Kim! I always hear good things about Pix products but haven't tried many so it's cool to get your impressions on some of the range since we're both dry and sensitive skin types. I love cleansing balms as a first step in a double cleanse. The texture does take getting used to but it's worth it for how well it removes makeup without stripping. Are you emulsifying midway through? If not, make sure you add a a few drops of water to the balm and keep working it into your face. It should become milky and break it down along with the makeup on your face and make it easier to remove. That's the Asian beauty way of using cleansing balms.
ReplyDeletePixi by Petra products aren't available in Canada, but I am definitely putting this brand on my list of things to look for the next time I cross the border! Thanks for your great reviews, Kim, I learn so much from your blog :)

First off, I love the packaging! I mentioned on your Instagram how I've heard so much about this brand, but have never tried them out before. I'm now even more interested now that I've learned it's both paraben free and it's not tested on animals. I think I'm most interested in trying the cleansing balm, it sounds very interesting! I'm currently using micellar water, too, to remove my makeup and it doesn't always get rid of liner and mascara in the first or second wipe, so the fact that this did is impressive! I'm also interested in that rose oil, too! Thanks so much for sharing, beautiful, and I hope you have the most amazing weekend ahead!
ReplyDeletePS: Pixi by Petra really couldn't have chosen a better brand ambassador. You are incredibly skilled and trusted at what you do, congratulations, beauty!

The cleansing balm sounds really interesting Kim, I haven't heard of anything like it before! :) I don't wear makeup often so I just use a makeup remover wipe before my usual cleanser when I do, ha! I should look into something like this for when I'm back in the office and wearing makeup regularly.
ReplyDeleteIt's great everything works for you - even if you do use things (like the blush) a little differently.
Hope you're having a great start to the weekend :)
Away From The Blue Blog
I did not even know about the brand !
ReplyDeleteSorry to hear about the heavy balm feel upon applying. In my case I would not like it either even if the results were good - I like my products light.
I agree with Rowena, they did a great job with choosing you as their brand ambassador, Kim. You tell it as it is and don't sugar coat anything and your readers trust you. I do wish Target is still here in Canada, they were the only one who carried Pixi. I can get them online but it's pricey. :-(

Great choice of pixi to choose you as a brand ambassador. I did use a cleansing balm, but not the pixi one, nor was it in a jar either. I liked it. But I like most of my cleansing things, lol. I am kinda obsessed with cleansing my skin, most do double cleansing I do triple cleansing, see what I mean.

I used to avoid pixi simply because of the look of the packaging, but it seems to have improved a lot recently. I love the look of it as well. Plus the products sound nice!

How exciting you've been selected as a monthly Pixi blog ambassador - I'm so looking forward to seeing your regularly reviews of their fab products! The cleansing balm has really caught my eye, along with the beauty blush duo. Your swatch of the shades looks very pretty - perhaps the perfect stocking filler?! :)

Love the in depth look at these items! Great review.
ReplyDeleteOooh, I've heard a lot of good things about that glow tonic by Pixi, and after hearing your thoughts I'm all the more curious to try it!
ReplyDeleteMmm and that rose oil blend sounds delightful. I get dry patches during the winter so that'd be a nice solution for that :D

I always adore how you do your reviews, so in-depth and honest! I've only dabbled with the Pixi Tonic before so I enjoyed reading about everything else they have to offer! The Rose Oil Blend for example sounds perfect for my oily skin!

Hey Kim, I've never used a cleansing bar either but it sounds great. I love the ingredients and like you said, the heavy feel when applied may take getting used to. Congratulations on becoming a brand ambassador for this brand, they seem really great. I like these products. I hope you had a fantastic and very restful weekend.

I actually like cleansing balms, especially this time of year! Even though the texture might not be my favourite, I love the finish it gives. I still haven't tried any Pixi products, everyone is raving about them so they must be good, right?
ReplyDeleteEla BellaWorld
I haven't tried any Pixi products. I would love to try the cleansing balm. The Tonic is sooo popular I have just hesitated buying because it is quite pricey compared to my giant $8.00 bottle of witch hazel. That lip plumper that doesn't burn sounds great. The only other plumper that I know of that feels cool is the Buxom ones. Thanks for sharing your thoughts on these!
ReplyDeleteYou're right Kim, the blush is too bright, but at least you can use it as an illuminator is a pity that the products are not as good, I hope the company can take your criticism as an incentive to make improvements in their products, happy start of week!

I've never tried Pixi products, so I'm glad they chose you as their ambassador. I'll get to know their products through a trustworthy beauty blogger. Of all the products in this box, I'm charmed by the cleansing balm. I don't think the texture would bother me. The rose hip oil and the lip balm sound great too!
