What is going on with red carpet fashion for 2017? I watched 45 minutes of the SAG Awards red carpet and became dismayed. I looked at the fashion recaps and nothing really made me go WOW! Did I miss something? Did something translate better on tv than pics? Let me know your favorites! Did anyone watch Miss Universe? It came down to France, Haiti and Colombia. Congratulations to France, but I loved Miss Colombia's evening gown. It was handmade and absolutely gorgeous. She came in 3rd :(
Viola Davis in Vivienne Westwood, Taraji P. Henson in Reem Acra, Kerry Washington in Roberto Cavalli Couture

I agree - nice dresses but they don't really have that wow factor. The Miss Universe dresses certainly do, so intricate with the designs! :)
ReplyDeleteHope you had a wonderful weekend :)

LOLZ....I didn't even know Ms Universe was on, and I think it was in Manila too, right? And Kim, I really loved Taraji's gown. Breath-taking!
ReplyDeleteI agree - the SAG awards gowns were a little funky, but some were pretty interesting.
ReplyDeleteOoh and Miss Colombia is stunning! Congrats to the new Miss Universe!
I like Amy Adams
ReplyDeleteThe SAG awards fashion wasn't all that captivating but I felt like Janelle Monae, Natalie Portman and Claiire Foy all stood out in a really good way.
ReplyDeleteI agree, these looks aren't wow, but I do love Taraji's outfit!

I only caught a little bit of the SAG awards. I thought Taraji's dress was the most interesting from what I saw.
ReplyDeleteI will have to take a look at the fashions from last night. I like getting the re-cap from the Fashion Police for a fun look at all the gowns.
ReplyDeleteI don't really watch award shows and I often suspect the most gorgeous gowns never make it to the red carpet. But I absolutely adored Taraji P. Henson's dress, it was stunning.

I agree with you, Kim, from what I've been seeing there hasn't been anything that really captivated me, other than Taraji, her dress is gorgeous, but kind of reminiscent of other gowns and collections we've seen before. I think it's that the fashion world keeps pumping out collections, more than what's truly needed with f/w, s/s, resort and couture, it's just too much! I sometimes think that these creative directors are stretching themselves thin and compromising their creativity for the sake of having something to show. Anyway, thanks for sharing your faves with us, beauty, and I hope you have the best week ahead!

I didn't watch either show...but from what I've seen, nothing from the SAG awards wowed me...Kerry Washington does look gorgeous though. Super chic and classic!
ReplyDeleteLove Colombia's dress!

I'm not the most fashion savvy person but yes, it was a little underwhleming for sure. :-(

I haven't watched any of these but new Miss Universe looks amazing.

I love, no scratch that! I'm in love with Taraji's gown. And oh no, I shouldn't have scrolled to the bottom cos I recorded Miss Universe and haven't watched it. Happy Monday Kim!
ReplyDeleteI didn't really pay attention to either lol but I love seeing the recaps so I can admire all their makeup and outfits! Kerry Washington looks flawwwwwless. I absolutely love her smokey eye and how it contrasts her softer, white, floral-y (at least it looks like floral) dress :)

I missed Miss Universe and apparently Panama made it in the top 13 -
ReplyDeleteI think Octavia Spencer looked spectacular in that black gown.
Well I agree with you that the red carpet designs were a little boring, I also saw the Miss Universe, and my favorite was Colombia, it's a shame that it was not she who won.
ReplyDeleteTaraji P. Henson was my absolute FAVOURITE! She slayed in that dress.
ReplyDeleteI haven't seen anything outrageously stunning either, however I like very much Viola Davis' candid elegance. Miss Colombia is super hot, but Miss France has something so ethereal and sophisticated, I think she deserved to win. Loves and loves, Valeria
ReplyDeleteYeah, the SAG Awards fashion were not inspiring. I like both the gowns of Miss France and Miss Colombia. Glad that it's Europe's turn this time.

I love the look of all the dresses! The second dress is specially gorgeous <3
