2017 Oscar Red Carpet

Hey everybody! What an Oscar night, huh! I haven't seen ANY of the movies (don't throw any popcorn at me hahaha), so I can't pass judgement. Have you seen them? Any favorites? I was very impressed with the fashion on the red carpet. Nicole Kidman got it right! I didn't like her choices for the last two award shows, but her Armani Prive gown looked absolutely superb on her. Less is more Nicole! Less is more! Another stunner was the Atelier Versace Couture gown worn by Halle Berry. That dress was gorgeous! Her hair (wig), not so much (in my opinion).  I think less at the top (wig) would've made a difference. I also loved the gown worn by Matt Dillon's wife Luciana Barroso. She looked regal. I could not find the designer! I'll be back on the blog Wednesday, with an in depth Pixi review.

Nicole Kidman (Armani Prive), Emma Stone (Givenchy Haute Couture), Hailee Steinfeld (Ralph & Russo),
Olivia Culpo (Marchesa) Luciana Barroso (?)

Salma Hayek (Alexander McQueen), Taraji P. Henson (Alberta Ferretti), Alicia Vikander (Louis Vuitton),
Halle Berry (Atelier Versace Couture), Kirsten Dunst (Dior Haute Couture)

Priyanka Chopra (Ralph & Russo), Naomie Harris (Calvin Klein), Viola Davis (Armani),
Michelle Williams (Louis Vuitton), Sofia Carson (Monique Lhuillier)

  1. That was an interesting Oscars. I haven't watched any of the films either but from all I've heard about Moonlight, I'm really glad it won best picture after they straightened everything out. I was disappointed with some of the winners because I don't think bad behavior should get a pass but that's neither here nor there. I do think that the red carpet was one of the best in years. Hailee Steinfeld and Viola Davis were two of the standouts for me and I loved Viola's acceptance speech.

  2. I didn't watch the ceremony because we ended up visiting some of my in-laws and was catching up so much with them, I totally forgot it was on, haha! I've been loving some of the dresses I've been seeing, though, especially Margot Robbie, ah...GORGEOUS! Hailee Steinfeld's dress is beautiful, I love the details and can we talk about how fabulous Mrs. Viola Davis looks in that red hot number! I love her, she's one of my favorite actresses. She's so raw and passionate, I love the energy she radiates. Thanks so much for sharing, beautiful, and I hope you're having a wonderful start to your week so far!

  3. Girl I didnt see most of the movies either but the fashion was intense! Hailee jailee Hailee and of course the best of the night was Janelle Monae in Elie Saab. Elie does no wrong in my book. Nicolle looked great and girl Halle's hair left me speechless. I loved Viola Davis's speech. Her facial expressions though. My daughter made a meme with her face and Halle's wig. It was a great night.

  4. I haven't seen very many of the movies that were nominated this year, and I never watch the Oscars - as always, there was some beautiful dresses, but I tend to find that celebrity fashion isn't a very accurate representation of the amazing things designers are creating, even if the dresses are beautiful. And there's no denying some of them were.

  7. Oh man! That was such a cray cray Oscars! I thought JT started it off with a bang, but that Best Picture gaff....I die! Like, seriously, I felt so bad for Warren Beatty and it was totally not his fault.
Fashionwise, I did like what was worn this year more than the other years. I thought Jessica Biel looked awesome, but my fave was Alicia Vikander's and Viola Davis' gowns.

  9. I didn't get to see them myself, nor have I paid any attention to the red carpet. I've only seen Nicole Kidman and that clap of hers because of the ring she was wearing and the controversy about the wrong winner announcement.

  12. I havent watched the Oscars. As someone only interested in makeup, not in fashion I temd to wait for the closeups. The dress selection you showed was beautiful though, and I personally am a big fan of the wig she is wearing.

  13. The gowns were stunning overall! My favorite was Janelle Monae in Elle Saab. It had such an Elizabethan vibe that I love!

I used to love going to the movies and seeing all the flicks with the most nods before the Oscars. But then I became busier as the years went on. Hopefully I can go back to doing that again the future. :)

  14. I wanted to watch Oscars but fell asleep at the end of the red carpet so ended up going to bed :) Don't they all look stunning? It is really hard to pick a favourite. I watched a few of the films, La La Land is good, you should watch it :)

  15. I didn't watch the Oscar't but Nicole Kidman's dress was my favorite too! Emma Stone looked like she was straight out of the prohibition era (1930s?? 20s??)

  16. I haven't seen any of the movies either XD Tbh I never seem to enjoy the movies which win the awards, they're usually too serious or boring for me. If I'm watching a movie I like watching something lighthearted and funny and those aren't the movies that tend to win awards lol. I do enjoy the fashion though! Emma and Taraji's dresses were my favorites! Both of them looked beyond stunning. I'm happy to see more classic silhouettes coming back into the style. I'm also happy that I didn't see any almost-naked people. For a few years there it was a bit tiring to see who could show off as much skin as possible lol

  17. Hello Kim, I have not followed the films nominated this year, maybe that's why I did not generate much expectation this delivery, incidentally we have coincided in several dresses for the choice of favorites, I also did a post about it :)

  18. True! Nicole Kidman really does look stunning in her dress. I'm not a follower of the red carpet fashion of award shows so I'm glad I'm seeing this in your blog instead. :)

  23. I didn't watch the Oscars but I think like most people have I saw that best picture stuff at the end, what an interesting way to finish the show, haha!

The fashions are of course beautiful :) You always pick some really pretty ones to share.

I haven't seen much TV or movies lately at all but I'm hoping that will have changed by next Oscars, the boys will be bigger so maybe I will have seen a few more movies by then, haha!

Hope you are having a really good week Kim :)

  25. I watched "Moonlight" the day after the ceremony! It was a touching movie.

I loved Hailee Steinfeld, Michelle Williams', and Naomie Harris' gowns too! They were distinct in their styling whether simple or simply gorgeous!

  26. Hi Kim!
It's been a while, hope you're doing well. I loved the Academy Awards red carpet and the show (even with all the crazy drama at the end). I agree that Nicole Kidman got it right and even though I don't feel like the actresses took a ton of risks, Emma Stone's dress was one of my faves too.

  30. I didn't watched the Oscar but I saw a few dresses here and there on blogs. When I find time I might check out the Oscar's looks in detail. It is always an interesting thing to do, to see what everyone wore. The fashion at the Oscars is so fascinating, it is like a whole different category. It is all about couture.

From what I seen, everyone looked rather nice. Your selection is really lovely, all of these ladies look great. Taraji looked gorgeous in that black dress and I do like her pose on that photo- sometimes simplicity is everything. I like the Versaci Couture dress that Halle Berry was wearing but I almost didn't recognize her without her signature pixie. She does look best with short hair- in my view anyway.

  31. btw I haven't seen any of the films yet! I read a review about Moonlight and it sounds like an interesting movie so that is one that I would like to see. I also heard that La La land is great, so maybe I will watch that one as well.

  35. Ah you're not alone, I also haven't seen any of the films! Emma Stone looked absolutely beautiful in the Givenchy gown, I'm not at all surprised everyone has been praising her glamorous look for the night :)

  37. The funniest and most embarrassing Oscars definitely! I threw an Oscars party at my house with my sisters and it sure was the most memorable one. I love Emma's dress. I watched Lala Land and it was very good! Btw Kim, did you receive your birthday card? It should arrive by now. It's snowing here and I'm not looking forward to it, but it's at least the last week of school for the boys.

  38. Emma Stone in Givenchy was my absolute fave! Halle Berry was stunning. I prefer her with a pixie but she declared she embraced her natural hair style. Weird because nobody seems to know who designed Luciana Barroso's dress. Tons of love dear!

  39. The only movie I've seen that was nominated was LaLa Land. Normally, I don't like it when Hollywood does musicals and uses actors who aren't musicians, but it was still pretty good. I want to see more of them now! I'm so happy Viola Davis won. Loved her acceptance speech!

  40. I didn't see any of the movies either - there a few I would really like to though!
I think Emma Stone's dress is my favorite. Just simple, not trying too hard.
