Pixi + Aspyn Ovard Glow-y Powder and Eye Accents Review and Swatches

Sponsored/Disclaimer: Several weeks ago, I received a PR package from Pixi Beauty. Pixi Beauty collaborated with four beauty enthusiasts: Aspyn Ovard, Caroline Hirons, It's Judy Time and Maryam Maquillage. I've tried all of the products and will be reviewing each this week. I received these products for free, but as always I promise to give my readers my 100% honest opinion for each product.

supersweet(run & buy it) sweet(really good,buy it) bittersweet(ok, issues)not sweet(not good,don't buy this stuff)

Pixi x Aspyn Ovard Glow-y Powders ($16.99 ea) - Sweet

Aspyn Ovard collaborated with Pixi Beauty on three (3) highlighters (one can also be used as a blush). She named the three highlighters after the places she's traveled (L-R): London Lustre, Santorini Sunset and Rome Rose. I was very impressed with all three! As you can see from my swatches, each is highly pigmented and gives a beautiful glow. Rome Rose is such a pretty shade. It reminds me a little of Tom Ford's Love Lust Blush, when applied. All apply and look beautiful on the skin. I was very impressed.

Pixi x Eye Accents Set ($16) - Sweet

Aspyn also collaborated with Pixi Beauty on an Eye Accent Set. This set contains a lower lash mascara and a clear gel brow tamer. I'm a little confused, because Pixi Beauty already had a lower lash mascara (reviewed by me here) & brow tamer. I don't understand how you can collaborate on something that was already made. It does say on the back of the box that these are two of her (Aspyn Ovard) favorite products from Pixi! Well that's different from a collaboration! HaHaHa I just wanted to point that out! But neither here or there, I love both products. The lower lash mascara is my favorite out of all Pixi mascaras. The brow tamer (clear brow gel) works really well in shaping/positioning/controlling eyebrows. For kicks & giggles, I also tried using it as a mascara. However, it neither lenghthened or added volume to my eyelashes. BUT there are two things I want to say. The Pixi brow tamer is very small .15 fl oz ($10/.19 fl oz purchased by itself; $16/.15 fl oz as a set (w/mascara) shown here). You can get Maybelline's Great Clear Lash Mascara .44 fl oz (and also use it on your eyebrows) for only $6.65 (suggested mfg price). Just saying! I've included a video that discusses Aspyn's collaboration below.

  1. Ha ha Kim, you're so right, how do you collaborate on a product that already exists? Either way, I recently (finally!) had the chance to try Pixi Beauty for myself and I am loving the products so far. Can't wait for your upcoming reviews of the rest of the collaborations.

  2. Th only thing that I was intereted in was the Double Cleanse and I bought that recently. The other things wasn't really up my street, even though I do enjoy pixi products.

  4. LOLZ on the Eye Accents set.:D That's not a collaboration, but more like a recommendation! But I digress...these products do sound great, Kim. And OMG! I'm so out of it. I only know It's Judy Time out of all these 4 beauty bloggers!

  5. I agree that the definition of collaboration here is different from what I'd usually think of - maybe she had some input into the packaging? If it's the same formula.

I do really like that Rome Rose bush though, what a great shade!

Hope you had a wonderful weekend :)

  7. I haven't checked the new releases of Pixi. I have the brow tamer and it is one of my favourite! Rome rose looks so beautiful, I love the chromic look and I'm sure it glows a lot once the sun hits your skin :)

  8. Yes a personal favorite is different than a collab. Thanks for clearing that up Kim. I've been wanting to try that Lower Lash Mascara since the first time you reviewed it. I'll have to add it to my list for the next time I visit Target.

  10. This is a brand I've yet to explore. I heard they have recently come to Canada but I haven't seen it as yet. Can't wait to check out some of their products. Everything here looks really gorgeous and love your swatches. x

  11. I am so obsessed with highlighters! I love the look of these, they are so shiny and really pretty. Lol about the "Collaboration" maybe they are not understanding the meaning of the word. Lol.

  12. The highlighters are so pretty. That's weird they called the brow gel and lower lash mascara a collaboration when its just their two products sold together.

  13. That Rome Rose blush is absolutely GORGEOUS! I literally said aloud, "omg, that's beautiful!" I'd definitely want to give that one a try come spring. You know, I don't know why I never thought of this, but reading you trying the clear brow gel on your lashes gave me an idea. I've been having a hard time with the mascara I love, it tends to smudge under my eyes after a long day's wear. I'm wondering if I were to apply a clear gel to the lashes if it would make a difference?! I'll have to give that a try! Thanks for sharing your thoughts with us, beautiful. Most of these girls are new to me, I'm only familiar with Judy, so I can't' wait to read your thoughts on her collab. I hope you're having a great start to your week so far!

  14. Thank you for pointing out that the amount we get for the brow tamer is tiny! And no kidding, choosing two existing products that you love from a brand is not a collab. LOL! The powders though, gosh, they are beautiful!

  15. I have only tried a couple of items from Pixi, but I'm impressed with what I'm seeing on blogs lately. I love those powders, especially Rome Rose. Beautiful sheen and would make a lovely blush.

  19. Those highlighters are soooo gorgeous!! I absolutely love how the Rome rose one looks! I'd love to own that set, and I'm glad that they are good quality and have good pigmentation! I also think it's strange that there's a collab set of the mascara and brow gel when they are already products in pixi lol!

  20. Maybe she is collaborating in advertising it? That's some kind of collaboration too:). Anyway, it was lovely reading these Pixi reviews. The shades really look great and the pigmentation seems awesome. As for the brow tamer, well that it a tiny package indeed. Thanks for pointing out a more affordable alternative.

    have a lovely day!

  22. I love the three highlighters -
My head is still wondering on the fact that a collaboration was done on an existing product... maybe collaboration was on the box ?!

  25. Hello dear! I'm back and going to enjoy your latest posts tonight! I find the shades of these highlighters wouldn't match my complexion. Rome rose looks lovely but I would use a tiny bit of it as a blush. The other two products as you say are not new. Thanks for this review. Love, Valeria
