Liquid Glow or Powder Glow? That is the question! There's only one winner here (at least in my book)! I purchased L'Oreal's True Match LUMI
Liquid Glow Illuminator (Golden W101) and
Powder Glow Illuminator (Golden W101) on sale at ULTA last year. Who wouldn't want a GOLDEN GLOW? I had to try them. FYI: These are also offered in ICE & ROSE. Below are my thoughts on each.
Sweet-Bittersweet-NotSweet
supersweet(run & buy it) sweet(really good,buy it) bittersweet(ok, issues)not sweet(not good,don't buy this stuff)
L'Oreal True Match LUMI LIQUID GLOW Illuminator in W101 Golden - Sweet
Here's the WINNER! Now let me tell you! The first time I swatched this, I was like WHOA! Do you see that metallic? Put on your shades! LOL I said, there is NO WAY this is going to work on my face! I'm going to look like a metallic martian! Well, that is not the case! If you click on my picture, you can make it bigger. I applied this atop my makeup (cheeks, nose, and forehead) and it gave me such a beautiful glow. I applied like 3 layers! IT BLENDED with my makeup beautifully & effortlessly. You can use this atop your makeup. You can apply it before your makeup. You can mix it with your liquid foundation. I really like it and it looks so natural. I think the only thing I would do differently is not apply it to the middle of my forehead. I would just stick with my nose and cheek areas. I highly recommend this. I think you would love it.
L'Oreal True Match LUMI POWDER GLOW Illuminator in W101 Golden - Not Sweet
Now Dis! LMAO I'm all for sparkle, but this is just TOO SPARKLY for me! It looks like the sparkle fairy, threw a bag of pixie sparkle dust in my face. I just feel its too much. Especially for daytime. Maybe you can get away with it at night. Maybe just use it on your collarbones for sparkle. It's just too much for my face. I swatched all 4 colors and then I show them blended together. The packaging is cool. It's compartmentalized. You have the illuminator and then a brush. But this just didn't work for me.
The liquid looks so nice and I totally agree about not loving sparkly highlighters too!

The Lumi Liquid Glow Illuminator definitely looks a little intimidating right out of the tube but It's good to hear that it works so well once it's blended out. This sounds like a real winner for the summer to capture the look of a golden glow :) Sparkles are a big NO for me as well.
ReplyDeleteI am such a fan of highlight and shimmer so both of these products would be up my ally. When I wear foundation, I also currently use L'oreal Lumi in W6 and I love it. It makes my skin look so soft and glowy.

Oh yes the liquid one is stunning on you! I'm glad you gave it a go too, I'd have seen the swatch on my hand and backed away, haha! It's so wearable on, great that it blends. It's really a shame the powder version is nowhere near as good.
ReplyDeleteHope you are having a really good week Kim! :)

Great selection!

I always prefer the liquid over the powder version, it usually blends way nicer. As someone that is not into glow that much, sparkle is a big no-go for me, so I will stay away from the powder for sure.

I wasn't expecting the liquid one to look that good on the skin. It is really intense and metallic, but it gives such a beautiful glow. Shame with the powder one, I really don't like sparkles, all I want it sparkle free glow :)

The liquid glow look beautiful on you! The sparkly powder would be perfect for a teenager. :)
ReplyDeleteOh I love Loreal and the liquid illuminator looks perfect for my skin too. Nice review!

SO sad about the powder! I love them but even on photo it is clearly way too shiny!

Wow - that liquid highlighter is gorgeous! I would never have guessed how it would look based on the swatch on your hand but what a wonderful surprise! When I run out of my current highlighter (and I've hit pan, so it will be soon) I will definitely be testing this one from L'Oreal.

I'm glad the liquid one worked for you kim! The powder one looks pretty, but I'm a fan of in your face highlighters lol! I have the powder one in rose, I haven't use it in forever. It is very sparkly, like you mentioned!
ReplyDeleteIt does give your skin a nice subtle glow !
ReplyDeleteOh and thanks for the suggestion on the inverted pleat # I never thought of it !
Holy moly that liquid one looks gorgeous. So pigmented! And that's amazing that you were able to wear three layers! Usually one layer of highlight is sometimes too much lol. Shame that the powder version is a glitter bomb. The colors look really pretty in the pan!

Sadly I don't wear makeup but there's no denying the fact that you're glowing! I'm sending this post to my sister she will love it :)
ReplyDeleteI am a big fan of L'Oreal paris foundations and I am so keen on trying out the pro glow foundation - it sounds right up my alley!

I've been trying to find a great liquid highlighter for so long. It's either too subtle or breaks up my foundation but this one looks like an interesting pick.

Your swatch of the Liquid Glow is SO dreamy! I tend to prefer liquid illuminators to powders, for sure :)

ReplyDeleteWow, that liquid foundation is SO METALLIC! I'm glad it worked out because now I want to try it... what can I say, I'm drawn to shiny things :)
