4 Ways To Use Light Around Your Home

When you are designing your home, you should consider the power of light. Making the most of light can help to create an illusion of space. It can also introduce more positive energy into your property. Not only this, but it can help to keep you safe and to improve your quality of living. Why not take a walk around your home? Make a note of all the ways that you could be using light more effectively. If you are struggling for inspiration, you will need to read on. Below are four ways to use light around your home.

Keeping your property safe

Light can play an essential part in keeping your property safe. For example, you could install LED light fixtures that will make it clear when someone is on your property. It will also help you to move around the outside of your home at night safely. A pitch black exterior is a perfect environment for burglars to work in. It allows them to go in, and out, of your property unnoticed. However, the installation of an automatic bright light is a fantastic deterrent.

Helping you to relax

When you are looking to unwind, light is an important part of the process. Harsh, bright lights will make it difficult for you to fully relax. That is why you should consider installing dimmer switches. They will allow you to have complete control over the lighting in your home. It will be perfect for those nights when you need just enough light to read, but not so much that you still feel wide awake. You could also purchase lots of candles and put them in relaxation spaces, such as your bathroom or bedroom. The gentle flickering of a flame is the perfect way to create a peaceful atmosphere.

Increasing your positive vibes

Studies have shown that natural light is a fantastic way to improve your mood. While dimly lit rooms can leave you feeling tired and depressed, rooms filled with natural light can immediately raise your spirits. If you want to go all out, you could install folding doors that open up the back of your property. However, a smaller step could be the installation of a skylight. Even just remembering to open up your blinds, on a regular basis, will make a huge difference. All of your time and effort will be worth it, once you begin to see results.

Offering practical assistance

If you are someone who loves to lead a luxurious lifestyle, you should explore the various uses of light. For instance, you could install a heat light in your kitchen. This investment is an ingenious way to control the temperature of your food and would suit any top of the range kitchens. You could also install display lights over the paintings in your home. You won’t use them every day, but they will be extremely impressive if you decide to show off your artwork to visitors.

  1. Natural light is my favorite! I get depressed when the days get shorter. Artificial light just doesn't do it for me. So I use the daylight bulbs in spaces where I need it. :)

  2. These are great ideas! I wish my house had more natural light in it. Dim lights def make you more tired. I love the darkness when sleeping but its so refreshing opening all the windows and shades in my room and letting natural light come in.

  3. I totally agree about natural light! I use to keep my blinds closed all the time, but now I have to open them up everyday along with my front door to let light in through the storm door. It really makes me feel better and happier through the day!
