Lalicious Birthday Cake Whipped Sugar Scrub and Sugar Coconut Hydrating Body Butter Review

Sponsored: I was sent Lalicious' Birthday Cake Extraordinary Whipped Sugar Scrub and Sugar Coconut Hydrating Body Butter to review. Birthday Cake was just released this year! I was actually going to buy it for my birthday (loved the name & beautiful packaging), but hey...everyday is an unbirthday (Alice In Wonderland) in my book ;) The scrub comes in super cute packaging! It's a nice size plastic jar, with pastel dots sprinkled on it. Does it smell like birthday cake? Not to my nose. The scent is very nice, but to me it smells more like pink bubblegum or cotton candy (candy floss for my European readers). I expected it to have more of a cake & frosting scent. So that kind of threw me. You guys may remember my review of Lalicious Sugar Coconut Sugar Scrub (please see it for pictures). Well Birthday Cake performs the same way. Great scrub, but it's too heavy/oily for me. I have super dry skin, but their scrubs just leave a layer of heaviness on my skin that doesn't wash away; you can see the water beading off your skin. It moisturizes, but it doesn't wash away cleanly. They also sent me their Sugar Coconut Body Butter. Their body butter formula is really good! It's creamy. It's moisturizing. Not heavy. I love the scent of their Sugar Kiss Hydrating Body Butter! The scent for the Sugar Coconut Body Butter starts off great, but then turns artificial. I didn't detect this when I reviewed the Sugar Coconut Sugar Scrub (link above). I thought the scent was very authentic! But then again, it's a scrub. So it doesn't hang around on the skin very long. So this body butter FEELS GOOD, but just doesn't have an AUTHENTIC coconut scent. I can vouch for the Sugar Kiss scent and would recommend it! Lalicious is doing a WEEK OF DEALS this week (November 6-10, 2017)! So be sure to check their products out.

  1. This looks so good, but I hate when scrubs leave a layer, which doesn't wash off. I wouldn't buy it for this reason alone x

  2. Oh it's a shame this wasn't such a winner for you Kim as it did sound like a promising product! I would have expected more of a frosting scent with it too! Maybe even vanilla.

Hope you are having a nice start to the week so far! :)

  3. I don't really use scrubs a lot, but am like you, Kim. Don't like it when it leaves a film like that. As always, thanks for the honest review, my dear:)

  4. This doesn't sound like something I would enjoy. I do not like greasy/oily body lotions. It makes me more irritated with my dry skin.

  5. How fun is the packaging and makes me want to have cake!!! Too bad you are not liking the scrub but the body butter sounds great. I love formulas that are not heavy! x

  6. How cute is this packing?! I love that the scrub is pink, too, which makes it even more exciting to want to use. I'm sorry you didn't like the way it felt after using it. I've used products like that, that felt too heavy and left somewhat of a residue and it just feels weird. I hope you're having a very Happy Tuesday, gorgeous!

  7. Sorry these were kinda duds for you. I would def expect that scrub to smell like frosting not cotton candy.

  9. I've been meaning to try this brand ever since you first posted about them Kim! It's too bad the scrub is overly moisturizing but whew the consistency of that body butter sounds just heavenly :)

  10. I would be totally disappointed that he scrub doesn't smell like frosting! And that's too bad it's too heavy for your skin! I'm glad the body butter is good, but that's also a bummer the scent turns artificial smelling!

  11. The first thing I noticed about this scrub is the packaging - it's so cute and reminds me so much of the packaging from Laduree. That said, what a disappointment that it doesn't smell like frosting! I'm generally not a fan of scrubs as I find so few truly wash clean out of the tub or shower after I've used them. The last thing I want to end up scrubbing is my bathroom, ha ha.

  13. I haven't seen this brand before. The scrub has such an interesting texture and look to it. Pity the products are bitter sweet.
