Dr. Dennis Gross All In One Cleanser With Toner, C+ Collagen Brighten & Firm Vitamin C Serum, Ferulic + Retinol Anti-Aging Moisturizer and Ferulic + Retinol Eye Cream Review

I need YOUR HELP today! Let me know in the comments section what your skin type is and what your experience has been with RETINOL and/or FERULIC ACID. My skin (dry. sensitive) reacted horribly to this skincare which contains BOTH. My skin felt dry, flaky, irritated and I broke out really bad around my chin area. I didn't know anything about FERULIC ACID, but I found this article and it specifically says, "as long as you don't have extremely sensitive skin or an allergy to ferulic acid, it's a great ingredient for slowing the hands of time." WELP! Ferulic acid is not my friend. LMAO I didn't know that! I've never tried any Retinol products. I just recently purchased a kit by Murad that has some retinol products, but I have to wait until my face heals up from this to see if it was the ferulic + retinol or just the ferulic that was the problem. I SUPER LOVE Dr. Dennis Gross Alpha Beta Ultra Gentle Daily Peels. I will continue to buy them, because they are THAT GOOD! So I wanted to try his skincare. I went to his website and you can click on your skin problem (dry, oily etc) and it will suggest products. Under Dry Skin, there are several options (hyaluronic - which I probably should've chosen, C+ Collagen, and ferulic + retinol). The Ferulic + Retinol is not listed under Sensitive Skin options, but it is listed under Dry Skin options. I don't think it should be under either. Let me explain what I experienced below.

Honestly, Dr. Dennis Gross has only one main cleanser. There's a bar soap option, but I've never had great experiences with soap over a long period of time with dry skin. The other "cleanser" is more to remove makeup. This All In One Cleanser states its for all skin types. I knew I was in trouble when the directions said "massage into dry face. 10 seconds for DRY SKIN. 30 seconds for OILY SKIN". I've used a lot of cleansers in my lifetime, and I've never had to time any of them. Have you? To me, this just tells me this stuff is too strong, but the company is too lazy to make separate formulas. I don't want to have to time anything! I followed the 10 second rule. The cleanser felt good on my face, but after washing it off and patting dry, my skin felt dry. Not parched, but way too stripped. So if the cleanser doesn't work for me? Yeah. On the front of the box it says YOU HAVE: Dry or Sensitive Skin. YOU WANT: Clean, Makeup Free, Toned and Hydrated Skin. My skin was clean, makeup free and toned, but not hydrated. I think this would work better for Oily & Combination Skin Types.

So then I added the serum to my face.  It says on the front of the box. You Have: Dull Complexion, wrinkles, uneven tone and texture. You Want: Smooth and taut skin, radiant luminosity. I don't think this product was a problem for me. This brown honey (non-sticky) colored looking serum is packed with Vitamin C, Collagen Amino Acids and propietary energy complex. Its suppose to improve imperfections like dullness, dark spots, rough texture and expression lines. It's gotten great reviews. It's pressurized in the bottle, so everything is fresh. They do have a Sunburn Alert, because it contains AHA's (increase sensitivity). I've used a Vitamin A serum and loved it by Mad Hippie (it even had retinol in it, and I experienced no problems). I really liked Murad's Essential C Night Moisture (it had Vitamin A, C and E). This vitamin C Serum is along the consistency and in my estimate even more powerful than Drunk Elephant's C-Firma Day Serum. But it's not sticky like Drunk Elephant's C Firma Day Serum.

Here's where things got bad! After the serum, I applied the moisturizer and eye cream. That's when my skin felt itchy, irritated and I started getting pilings. Then overnight my chin broke out really bad. I said, this is a reaction. So I stopped. I've only used this skincare one time. I returned it, because it's really expensive.

Final thoughts: I would go back and order the hyaluronic acid or C+ Collagen products but the cleanser doesn't work for me. If the cleanser doesn't work, why would I try the other products? I still love his peeling pads. I don't think these are bad products, but my dry/sensitive skin can't handle these. I also wouldn't recommend these for dry/sensitive types. Other skin types may love these! Therefore I'm not giving any of these a grade. I just wanted to share my experience and get some feedback from others (that's what I love about blogging). I will try the Murad retinol products, once my skin gets back in order. It's important for me to know if retinol is an overall problem for me or was it the ferulic acid?
