PR Sample: Pixi Beauty sent me a PR package that contained their PixiGlow Cakes $28 (Target, Selfridges). I saw these when they launched earlier this year and wanted to try them. I was super-duper excited to receive these in the mail. The "cake" name alone got me excited! LOL What are these? They are a highlighter, blush, bronzer and contour in ONE PALETTE. I know what you're thinking. I was thinking the same thing. Usually makeup that's blended all together doesn't work, but that is not the case with these Pixiglow Cakes! I put these to the test! Many people say, they mimic Kevyn Aucoin's Neo Blush or Bronzer palletes, but I've never tried his. Below are my honest thoughts on Pixi's Glow Cakes!
Sweet-Bittersweet-NotSweet
supersweet(run & buy it) sweet(really good,buy it) bittersweet(ok, issues)not sweet(not good,don't buy this stuff)
Pixi Beauty PixiGlow Cakes are Supersweet
In the PR package, Pixi included a selfie light. It's really cool, because it has 4 light settings (lo, med, hi and blinking). It really makes a difference when taking pictures. You can charge it by USB.
PixiGlow Cake - GildedBare Glow
This is the first PixiGlow Cake I tried. You can see that the color radiant goes from light to dark. From champagne to a dark brown. There are 4-6 spectrums of color in this "cake". Your makeup brush easily fits into any of those spectrums. The lighter end is the highlighting end. The middle is the blush. The darker end is for bronzing & contouring. GildedBare Glow has a natural, neutral, peachy brown color scheme. I was very impressed with the bronzer and it contoured great. Blending was easy. The blush was beautiful. If you're a medium to darker skin tone, start using the blush towards the darker end. The color payoff is pretty & natural. The highlighter was a little white & icy but I used a beauty blender to blend it out. It came out really pretty. I LOVED the final look. I topped off my look with Pixi's MatteLustre Rose Naturelle Lipstick (review here).
PixiGlow Cake - PinkChampagne Glow
PixiGlow's PinkChampagne Glow Cake has more of a PINK theme! You guys know how I feel about pink. I had so many bad ones when I first started blogging that made me look clownish that I felt no pink would work for me. I found that not to be true. I love pinkish brown lipsticks and subtle pinks for my face. When I applied this, I was really surprised. It's a grown-up pink! It looks beautiful on and I feel it will compliment so many skin tones. The bronzer looks the same as the GildedBare Glow above. The highlighter for this one is more of a baby pink. But the overall effect is beautiful. I topped off my makeup look with Pixi's MatteLustre Bitten Rose Lipstick (review here).
I really love these PixiGlow Cakes and feel you will as well! They had me dancing! LOL
