Not Sponsored: I'm doing a seven-part series on an assortment of products I purchased from
Shea Shea Bakery. You can read my review of their
candles,
lip scrub,
body creme,
body wash and
face mask here. Today, I am going to review their Lemon Glaze Scrub. I love lemon pound cake! So when I read that this scrub "smells just like lemon pound cake drizzled in icing!" it went right in my online basket. This scrub has a blend of both white & brown sugar, shea butter and vitamin E. It has a beautiful yellow color! It mimics a home-baked lemon pound cake. The scent is LEMON. Does it remind me of lemon baked goods? Not quite. I was expecting more of sweet lemon. This seems more like a sour lemon. So how does the scrub perform? I could immediately tell it was moisturizing and the granules would exfoliate. But was it the right balance of both? No. It exfoliates well, but I felt it was too moisturizing (oily) and I have DRY SKIN. If you look at my pictures below, you'll see that water beads off my hand. I then dried my hand and everything looks good. But then look at my inner hand! It just felt greasy/oily. Scrubs can be funny. I experienced the same thing with a very expensive scrub from FRESH called Brown Sugar. Just too oily and slippery. A scrub that I've mentioned time & time again, that has the right balance is Soap & Glory's Breakfast Scrub. Great exfoliation. Moisturizes your skin. Rinses cleanly. I still use it today. If Shea Shea Bakery would tone down the moisturizing properties in this scrub, it would be great. I just didn't care for the lemon scent or moisturizing properties. If you're oily, you definitely want to avoid.
