Not Sponsored: I want to wrap-up my face primer series with a review of the Hourglass Veil Mineral Primer (Barneys, Selfridges, Sephora, Harrods, Bloomingdales) and No 28 Primer Serum (Nordstrom, Neiman Marcus, Barney's New York, Bergdorf Goodman, Sephora, Harrods, Selfridges, Bloomingdales). I've never tried anything from Hourglass (can you believe that?), but have always heard rave reviews about their primers. I've tried both, so let me share my thoughts and experiences about each below. I purchased the deluxe sample sizes instead of the full size (so I linked those as well). I'm so glad more companies are offering that option. Lets talk about the difference of each.

Hourglass Veil Mineral Primer - Sweet
Veil is VEGAN. Its OIL FREE. It has SPF 15 sun protection. It conceals redness (even rosacea). It minimizes pores, fine lines and imperfections. I tried this without a moisturizer (picture below), but on Hourglass' site, it says to apply this to MOISTURIZED skin. This primer is white in color, but you don't have to worry about it turning white on your skin. The color evaporates. It has a clinical scent. Shake before applying. It applied evenly on my skin. When I applied my Too Faced Born This Way Foundation, I found that I used less foundation. The foundation adhered well to my skin. Everything was even (as you can see in the picture below). If you have dry skin like me, you will want to use a moisturizer with this primer. Just to give your skin some type of glow. On its own, your skin will look a little dull (matte). The sunscreen protection (SPF 15) is mineral-derived. They ask that you apply this 15 minutes before sun exposure and reapply every 2 hours. Anyone else giving the side-eye??? It's a makeup primer! How am I going to apply this again, with makeup already on my face? So um... yeah! Personally, I like to use a separate sunscreen for my face before applying a primer. So this primer alone will not give you hours of protection. Hourglass also states that if you plan on swimming etc. then you will need added waterproof sun protection. On Hourglass' website it states that this primer "repels water" [but its not waterproof]. So you really need to think about what you'll be doing, to see if this will afford you sufficient protection. Overall, its a great primer and I can see why it has won so many awards.
Hourglass No. 28 Primer Serum - Sweet
I've heard so many claims...THIS IS GREAT FOR DRY SKIN...GREAT FOR DRY SKIN! So, lets see! Its VEGAN. It softens the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. Repels water so makeup looks fresh! As the name suggests, it is a primer & serum in one and contains 28 ingredients (14 essential oils, 10 lipid-rich plant oils, 4 nourishing vitamins) to nourish your skin. So this primer's goal is to nourish your skin and prep it for makeup application. You guys, its a pretty thick serum. It's consistency is like a gel. My dry skin did a great job absorbing this formula and my skin looked radiant (picture below with primer + makeup). Someone with oily skin may not like this formula. Again my foundation adhered well and lasted all day. Some primers don't react well with some foundations. I found that BOTH of these worked well with both my NARS and Too Faced Foundation. They really made them "behave" HAHAHA I didn't have to struggle with my makeup. I mentioned above about sunscreen (adding my own sunscreen to my face)... well, I feel the same about serum. I really like to add my own serum (from my skincare regimen) to my skin. Both of these primers have extra benefits. I might not necessarily need them, but they are an added benefit that works. I really like both. I highly recommend both. I would suggest that you purchase the deluxe samples to see what works best for you.
